Cruzinram Posted Friday at 05:13 PM #1 Share Posted Friday at 05:13 PM Corkage fee has rocketed to $42.00 plus gratuity. Took a bootle of our favorite wine for dinner on rooftop grill. Expecting $25.00 fee but like everything else it has increased. Just an FYI. Might not be a savings anymore to bring your own bottle onboard. 1

That corkage fee is crazy!
Team Stag Posted Friday at 05:29 PM #3 Share Posted Friday at 05:29 PM Apparently it has been updated in their FAQs. Thanks for sharing though - I was not aware of this. And yes @Rina155 - it is still included if you have a beverage package.

That's when you start to pour a glass in your room and walk down to the dining room with it. 3
Iamcruzin Posted Friday at 08:05 PM #5 Share Posted Friday at 08:05 PM (edited) $42 to twist off the cap of a bottle of $5 buck Chuck? It's not as if people are boarding with 2 bottles of Chateau Lafite Rothchild. It's cheaper to buy a bottle of the $10 wine they sell for $40. cruizingOmi Posted Friday at 11:31 PM #6 Share Posted Friday at 11:31 PM Just open the bottle in the room, fill glasses, carry to dining room. Pour the rest into a refillable water bottle and take with you, Voila no Corkage fee. 2
Covepointcruiser Posted Friday at 11:49 PM #7 Share Posted Friday at 11:49 PM Is the current rate $35 plus service charge or $42 plus service charge?? So there is still no charge for corkage if you have a beverage package?

Alakegirl Posted Saturday at 02:34 AM #11 Share Posted Saturday at 02:34 AM Look around next time you cruise. People do it all the time. Quite often one of the waiters standing near the door will offer to carry it to the table for you.

Maybe they can come to my cabin and carry it all the way?

George C Posted Saturday at 03:46 AM #15 Share Posted Saturday at 03:46 AM I had a argument with staff at Le Petit Chef, they wanted to change me a corkage fee even though I had premium drink package in March had to have concierge remove the charge we were in a royal suite that included drink package and free specialty, rccl hasn’t changed us a corkage in over a decade . No way I would pay over 40 for a corkage.

Is it really OK to take a plastic water bottle filled with wine out at a table and pour it into your glass at your table? Do people feel comfortable doing that? PS. I know that, in a restaurant in New York City, if you did this this to save on drinks, they would almost walk you out lol Edited Saturday at 11:26 AM by Kordy

It was a plastic (acrylic?) wine aerator. I don’t want plastic anywhere near my wine, even temporarily.

It's estimated that 9% of bottles are packaged that way now, and that the % is increasing.

Rare NMTraveller Posted Saturday at 04:27 PM #21 Share Posted Saturday at 04:27 PM (edited) I prefer to uncork in the room and carry the glass to the dining room. During one of my cruises the waiter was having a difficult time getting the cork out. I wanted to help out so much 🤣 I suppose if the cost was inconsequential then I might just take the bottle. But $42 is the highest corkage fee I have heard of. Perhaps they should send their management to Econ 101 and not Nickel and Dime 101. The more that they raise prices, the less corkage fees that they will collect. I doubt that they collect many at this price. canderson Posted Saturday at 05:05 PM #23 Share Posted Saturday at 05:05 PM For $42, I'd at least expect them to ignore the open flame rule and bring out the candle for an old Cabernet!

The same thing happened to me the second or third time I tried to open a bottle of it. 🙂
