Vaping inside cabins?

Did you?

No I did not confront them. I wasn’t sitting near them. I would have reported it to a pool staff person but didn’t see one.  They probably wouldn’t have done anything anyway.

Not the individual(s), a staff member. Way above my paygrade to confront another guest on any issue. I've always seen staff members roaming around and especially manning the pool towel carts. Until you ask, you don't know if a staff member would have done anything or not. Hopefully you mention it on your PCS (?).

We were on the Regal. I hated that smoking was allowed in one area of the casino. Normally we would spend an hour or so in there each evening but barely went at all because the smoke was drifting over to the rest of the casino. My husband has a serious respiratory condition which is aggravated by smoke. This is not enough to stop us cruising with Princess as we enjoy everything else but we just won’t be making our usual donation every evening. Actually I could probably get yet another expensive handbag with the savings.

have to find a positive amongst all the negative.

Agree. The smoking lounges AKA casinos which only allows limited gambling are the biggest negative for us as the smell doesn't stay in the casino. I don't blame the smokers, I blame Princess for allowing the smokers to use the casino as a smoking lounge especially when the casino isn't open for gambling. It would be nice if Princess followed Celebritys lead and did away with all inside smoking.

Agree, but Celebrity’s solution was to have a smoking section along the exercise track (do I burn more calories if I hold my breath going by?), and along one side of the “promenade” deck.

I'm walker. I know what you mean on Celebrity's M & S class ships. But still better than being inside with the smoke. On Celebrity's E class ships the smoking area (starboard side) is away from the track and close to the Sunset Bar. IMO, the E class walking/jogging/running tracks are the best on any cruise line ships I've been on. I don't walk Celebrity's Promenade decks. The Enchanted has a good one. Away from the smokers.

The following statement is copied from the Princess Cruises Passage Contract, which has revised date of July 2024.   So, unless there is newer version out there, it appears vaping is allowed inside the guest’s cabin.

The use of electronic cigarettes, personal vaporizers, or electronic nicotine delivery systems is allowed within the confines of the Guest's stateroom (balcony not included) and within designated smoking areas only.

No doubt people were doing it anyway, so it is only realistic to allow it in policy.  And, I don't recall seeing any complaints about vaping in cabins on here since Jul 24 (or before then, actually), which reinforces the view I've gained from personal experience that it is just about impossible to detect whether a previous user of your cabin or an occupant of an adjoining cabin has been using a vape.

Can't argue with their policy but I find the policy strange. No matter where we are or go vaping is always prohibited in any inside establishment, just like all tabaco products.

Recently Celebrity had a Q&A and the callers overwhelmingly suggested a new smoking area - 100m aft of the ship.

Understand different rules in different places.  At home there is no smoking or raping inside any building open to the public or within 15' of an entrance or exit.  Works for DW who is asthmatic.

The tv in the cabin has a message in the smoking section, which states that the use of electronic cigarettes is permitted in the cabin.

Could you send a screenshot of that?

Never saw that before.

Could I ask, is your passenger contract related to departure from the UK, EU, US, Asia or other areas?

Just wondering if it varies?

Obviously, the policy needs to be updated somewhere……...

I am cruising out of Port Canaveral next year and the above is also included in my contract.

Thanks, I was looking at the passenger contract on my bookings also.

Says the same.  I’m still surprised as it does not match the verbiage on the website.  SMH

We saw people openly vaping by the pool on the Caribbean Princess in January. They didn’t try to hide it and no one did anything about it.

Did you report it.  I would have,

It’s pretty dumb to allow vaping inside but not outside.  What am I missing?

There is no agreement whether vaping is safe or if it leaves a residue. One website says yes, another says no.

If the policy is to allow vaping inside cabins, Princess may not be for me.

I’m pretty astonished to learn of this exception to the smoking policy.
And pretty disappointed.
I’d hate to be the next guest to enjoy that cabin.
