Gershwin is very organized. He is also very quiet. Don't mistake his quiet style for inattention. He is all that and more. Great guy and very good at keeping the CL up and running. He also writes things down.

We had Gershwin on the Voyager, two weeks ago. He was very efficient, if not somewhat overbearing. We liked him, and he runs a tight ship (NO taking drinks out of the lounge). He very closely checks your Seapass when you first enter the concierge lounge but remembers you after that. They had 106 D/D+ on that cruise so they had moved the evening service to the card lounge on deck 14. Since there is not a key card lock on that room, someone was standing outside the door every night checking key cards. The first few nights they only served on deck 14, and at times there was a long wait for drinks as he only had 1 and sometimes two additional servers. On Wednesday, someone from the suites complained about the cc lounge not serving in the evening, and ship's management directed Gershwin to open both the cc lounge and the room on deck 14. Gershwin served in the concierge lounge and another person ran the deck 14 op. We returned to the cc lounge for the rest of the cruise in the evening and found service and offerings to be acceptable. Gershwin was always pleasant and stopping to talk for a few moments with us, but he told us he is going to the startup team for the Independence at the end of this month.

I just got an email from Giovanna. She is leaving the Splendour next month for vacation. In June she starts on the Mariner.

So she should be alternating with Fernando and will probably be on my 8/17/08 Mariner cruise. Sounds like the dreaded Mitzi is out of the picture!!!

I just talked with someone just of Adventure- DeDe is on Holiday- a Carmen from Peru was concierge. Not sure how long DeDe on Holiday(anyone know).

Anyone experience with Carmen??

As far as I know Kenneth is staying on the EN until he is replaced by Julian. Carlos has been in Guest Relations on the EN ....... and who knows what he'll do when/if he changes ship.

 

I'm also not sure how Kenneth and Carlos and Julian all showed up on the NV. I think that may have been a mistake.

If it is the Carmen who has worked in Guest Services ....... she is wonderful. She did an outstaning job in G.S. so wouldn't be surprised

if they moved her to the Conceirge spot for DeDe's vacation relief.

On the Brilliance they open the Odyssey Lounge to Diamond Members only between 4:30 & 8:00 pm. Although she's not a Concierge per se, Andrea who is the Bar Tender, puts Katherine to shame with her service in the lounge. I'm not a usual smoker, but the Odessey becomes a cigar lounge after 8:00, and I spent a lot of time just conversing with her.

Empress of the Seas (NE) has left RCI´s fleet. Her new name is Empress.
