gotgames2play Posted May 2, 2015 #1 Share Posted May 2, 2015 We will be sailing to Bermuda on the Summit this summer - what areas / restaurants will be off limits for us? Thanks! Dawna
Nachosdelux Posted May 2, 2015 #2 Share Posted May 2, 2015 (edited) Michael's Club, Blu, Luminiere (unless invited by suite resident, plus fee) - anywhere else on the ship you can go, although there may be a fee involved Edited May 2, 2015 by Nachosdelux
miched Posted May 2, 2015 #3 Share Posted May 2, 2015 The same as others have listed. Since they are not included in your fare you will not notice them or feel as if you are being denied anything. Most times you won't even know that those places exist. When Michaels Lounge was open to everyone most time it was closed and it got to where we didn't even bother going to there or noticing the place. it is the same with the specialty restaurant, they are there but if it wasn't for someone standing outside soliciting business they become "invisible." happy cruising 🌊🚢🇺🇸🌞
Rare ghstudio Posted May 2, 2015 #4 Share Posted May 2, 2015 You also will not be able to use the red carpet (yes, it's a real red carpet) gangway when returning to the ship...if they still set it up.
simon stingray Posted May 2, 2015 #5 Share Posted May 2, 2015 And if you're not Elite or above, you won't we able to go into the Sky Lounge each evening from 17.00-19.00 whilst they are holding the Elite cocktail hour.
rnrcruzin Posted May 2, 2015 #6 Share Posted May 2, 2015 As a "regular" non-suite person you're pretty much restricted to your cabin, the buffett, and the art auction.
Rare chemmo Posted May 2, 2015 #7 Share Posted May 2, 2015 As others have said the main suite restricted areas are Michael's club and luminae restaurant. On formal nights you may also see a restricted area in the theatre until 10mins before curtains. There are no suite areas on decks etc. Persian gardens is also for Aqua class, those who pay and elite captains club members with vouchers. (Not worth going to really on M class ships IMPO). There are two speciality restaurants you can pay to go to. You can pre book before you go or look for offers when you board. Despite the high focus of discussion re suite/Aqua.......owing to the recent introduction of Celebrities suite life programme for most of the time all guests enjoy and share the ship without even being aware what cabin anyone else is in. kevinyork Posted May 2, 2015 #9 Share Posted May 2, 2015 This is an interesting thread by the OP. We experienced and enjoyed Michaels on our first Eclipse journey as Perry Grant was performing there. Then he was moved to the more impractical Cellar Masters. We are on Eclipse in late June and after the refit it will have the suite restaurant Luminae. This has taken away 50 seats from club dining and these passengers have been deflected to Select plus Suite passengers can choose to dine in select as well. If Select is busier as a result and we have to wait then we wont be happy. I know Celebrity want to reward Suite passengers but there has to be a point at which regular passengers feel like second class passengers. bobsfamily Posted May 3, 2015 #14 Share Posted May 3, 2015 The VAST majority of the ship that is given over to passengers is available to all. MC and new suite dining take up a small portion of the area. If not in Aqua-class you have to deduct the Blu dining area also which most likely is larger than MC and suite dining combined. As an aside there is lots of spaces that you as a passenger AND the suites guests cannot go... like the engine room for example.
gergles Posted May 3, 2015 #15 Share Posted May 3, 2015 If you really want to feel 2nd class, check out "The Haven" on NCL ships - the suites get an entire half-deck, including their own pool (!), hot tub, and lounge. They also reserve regular restaurants on the ship for Haven meals for breakfast and lunch. http://thehaven.ncl.com/courtyard/#floorplan

Not necessarily true. It depends on how many Elite/Elite+ are on cruise. In February on The Connie they had area roped off for others who wanted to come in and buy a drink. There were cruisers there every evening enjoying a drink and the view. If huge amonts of Elites cruising there would not be space.
Rare ghstudio Posted May 3, 2015 #18 Share Posted May 3, 2015 Red Carpet ????????????????????????????????????? No joke....the ships carry a red carpet which they occasionally put out at port stops. There is the "red carpet" entrance back to the ship for suite guests and the rest of us go through the regular return gate. I have watched from our balcony and have seen very very few actually use the carpet...but it was there. I'm sure a search of CC will find discussion. I don't know if it's an idea that was tried (last year) and discarded or if it's still done at some ports.

Suites, and I think Elite plus (and of course Zenith!) A bit of carpet and a separate line... although ALL had to queue thru security. The ice towels and water/lemonade is still available for all though.

No, not elite plus....it was never offered to us....we're just part of the unwashed masses :) It's for suites and perhaps zenith's. Perhaps with the next turn of the crank they will have vestal virgins singing and throwing rose petals ahead of the suite passengers...with a herald who will announce "hark....they come, please step aside and lower your head as the suite passengers pass" (you can probably tell I'm not thrilled with this new "class for a cruise" system). bobsfamily Posted May 3, 2015 #21 Share Posted May 3, 2015 No, not elite plus....it was never offered to us....we're just part of the unwashed masses :) I'm surprised they allow the lowly Sky suites in that way... Truly about the only advantage would be if coming back at a peak time with a very long line to just get to security. Once past the bit of carpet you still are waiting to get "Beeped" aboard and then scanned for that dang pint of booze.

Not necessarily true. Depends on the number of Elites aboard and attending this event. In our 2 weeks on Infinity we were never moved out, the Elites just huddled in the central area and talked about us hoi paloi, trying to decide if we were any threat to invade and take over... Rare Azulann Posted May 3, 2015 #25 Share Posted May 3, 2015 (edited) Red Carpet:eek: I have seen that little bit of carpet and the ropes beyond the nice tent with some wicker furniture, drinks, cold towels area for everyone. On all my sailings, I have never seen anyone walk on the "red carpet":D Just walk around it , show your SP to the crew at the bottom of the gangplank and walk on board to the "ping" machine and the "Welcome back,n...." from the next crew member. I think the "red carpet" needs to be retired. It is silly....;) Edited May 3, 2015 by Azulann
