  1. Please elaborate on "...the amount of amenities/areas..." that you cannot partake in??? What are you considering "general population cabins."??? For many of us, there is no such thing as "general population" as opposed to fellow passengers, some of whom we meet and others we do not. As for off limits to "us" who do not purchase Suite Cabins would be the Retreat/Michaels Club and Luminae... As such, mainly two (2) areas out of the full ship... So not sure how you get that impression, then again you did say you did not research so it is quite understandable how you could be very mistaken in your thoughts... Please go to X's website and take a very quick look at the ship layout to understand, somewhat, where you will be able to go and enjoy aboard... lots of places.. That way you will be very informed on what is and what is not and be versed on your ship. I do not sail in suites (yet) and like a few others who post here, do not as well... Selective reads for sure... IMO bon voyage
  2. ji - heck that is late, get up early, say around 4a and call, then 4.30a and 5a... Just in time to greet Room Service... LOL bon voyage
  3. Yes, they do, except the OP needs to call security and not the passengers... bon voyage
  4. bc it is all in the quest for a great sailing, great food, great drinking and meeting great people!!! LOL bon voyage
  5. To add: how would those passengers know it was you who called, as there 'usually' are cabins on either side of them as well above and below.... Any one could call, unless you show intimidation if you saw them the next day, then that would be a dead giveaway, IMO... and some of us would for sure... I would be brazen enough to let them know it was me... and dare them!!! LOL Continued peaceful and fun sailing for you... bon voyage
  6. If nothing 'is' done, then call security, which would be the first go to IMO, then GS... Security can get there quicker and directly... Those passengers, obviously, are antagonizing you enough to post here about it. If there is ANY retribution, then call security again, they will take care of it for you... bon voyage
  7. To be sure, your family members will be fine just as long as they are not "fall down drunk and rude" and they do not venture beyond the smoking areas aboard AND not get any nasty looks except by a few who believe that those who smoke and drink should not be allowed on-board... so not to worry, go, enjoy and have some great memories!!! Most passengers aboard X's ships are "nice" people also, to be sure, IME!!! bon voyage
  8. Yes, it is an open jaw flight. I believe you can find the available flights by either checking it out online or calling RCCL... Good luck and bon voyage
  9. Yet, just allow them to make those comments and pass them by as their agenda is not the same as yours, which is making sure your children enjoy themselves... while you have a great sailing, too. Check your roll call to find out if anyone there are bringing their children, but I would guess that Camp at Sea would be available, maybe not a full compliment of hours if there are few children, but something would be available... Good luck and bon voyage
  10. X has, to date, not had kombucha available... You may want to look at X's website to see what types of beverages 'may' be available on board... Cheers and bon voyage
  11. c1 - I would recommend that you sail when there is a good chance that teens will be on-board... Based on what you have written I Am sure your DD will enjoy X, especially with her age group aboard. She will find that most of the teens are well behaved and enjoy doing things around the ship, PLUS there may be a few organized activities for that group which will enhance her experience and enjoyment aboard. Good luck and bon voyage
  12. Per chance did you alter your arrival times to eat or do you have a fixed time you want to eat??? Sorry about your experience, for sure that can be off putting on Blu or any other restaurant on-board... bon appetit and bon voyage
  13. Actually why not go to the MDR upon boarding take stock of the seating and decide which tables would work best for you... get the table numbers!!! Speak to the the Maitre d' to advise of your situation and the tables which work best for you... AND the approximate time you will be arriving so they can try to keep one of the available for you. I would also suggest that all bets would be off if you are more than 15 minutes late as their hands would be tied because of the numbers to seat, plus if you are desiring to eat at a busy time, there may be a wait beyond normal walk up time... After all, the M d' cannot hold a table but for so long in order to accommodate as many diners as possible. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE remember that the time you may want to eat, those tables may be in use and you may have to wait a bit for them to free up. bon appetit and bon voyage
  14. Not knowing which ship is being sailed (it really does not matter) all of the restaurants will be good, PROVIDED you let them know in advance at least 24 hours!!! You can even let them know what you would enjoy that night and the Maître d' will work with the chef and you to make it happen... Being vegan myself, the only time when there was an issue was when signing up for the Daniel Boulud Chef dinner... I was told several hours before the dinner that I could not be accommodated due to the licensing agreement which indicates NO changes can be made to the menu. Although X's own Chef's Dinner, when offered, will make changes to accommodate vegans... bon appetit and bon voyage
  15. I have always had issues with Samsung tablets and using certain proprietary apps... While it would be nice for this and other apps to work on the tablet, in reality I use my phone at the pier, so it is not a major challenge, as the tablet is a bit too bulky for me to carry around like that. Yet, I can understand the desire to use it before sailing. bon voyage
  16. If at all, before your sailing... Cheers and bon voyage
  17. Many of the 'basic' questions are on X's website here... As such, I can only rely on what others have posted about the package they use... The basic package, as described, is exactly what it is, basic and nothing more need be expected. bon voyage ETA: just like beverage packages, only we can decide if it is worth it to upgrade.
  18. While I think you are generally correct about RCL in terms of options, personally I think that the quality of teens sailing on X, in terms of 'behaviour' will be a much better influence. On most of our X sailings there were a good number (upwards of 15) of teenagers aboard, while there were times when they appeared out of control, out of no where a parent appeared and all was under control for the balance of the day. Some sailings on X there are organized activities for that age group, which gives them an opportunity to meet others in their age range... which is a good thing IMO... bon voyage
  19. I Am so sorry to hear this... I would think they would have offered up an explanation as to the reason as opposed to a flat "you can't upgrade". Maybe something will change long before you are to fly out... Good luck and bon voyage
  20. Not sure, but have you tried calling the airline to upgrade OR to find out the reason you cannot do it online???? bon voyage
  21. Yes, X does have a non-alcoholic package.... Cheers and bon voyage
  22. NL - I forgot, I vote for Infinity.... (selfish to be sure)... I Am sure whichever line/itinerary you choose, it will be a great experience, still... bon voyage
  23. While I Am sure he will be surprized, I think you can ask his mother which countries she thinks he would like based on his interests.... Then surprize him with a gift or something from that part of the world announcing the sailing for him!!! I think once you get the basic paperwork together and submitted to X (parental consent, Visas, and passport) all should be good. YET, I would contact X in advance, to confirm which paperwork they require to board... This is a great thing you would do for your DN and it will be a great memorable experience for him, regardless of the sailing... Just think of all of the wonderful people he will meet on the sailing!!! bon voyage
  24. 🖐🏿🖐🏿🖐🏿 bon appetit and bon voyage
  25. dk then obviously you are impressing the staff enough to want to help??? You have to exercise the DYKWIA card.... I get treated like I Am eating in Luminae... food delivered, drinks brought and most especially napkin unfolded and placed on My lap!!! LOL bon appetit and bon voyage
