  1. Also, check what coverage you may have with the credit card you use to book the hotel. Some include basic insurance coverage for these situations.
  2. We will be on Oosterdam in 1/2025. Can anyone tell me if the veranda cabins on deck 4 have bathtubs or shower only and are they older with shower curtains? Also, has the library been restored on the Oosterdam? Thanks!
  3. We used the Guest Service desk on our last cruise because the Neptune Lounge did not have the binder that showed all of the vases available for purchase.
  4. What a wonderful review! Thanks for taking the time to do it!
  5. I've yet to have a phone conversation with the TA I've been working with for the past 5 years. I email them the details of what I want and they take care of it. I have much better things to do than wait on hold to talk with someone who may or may not be able to help me.
  6. It looks like the table in front of the loveseat is adjustable. That's nice!
  7. I like the included option to upgrade your cabin within your booked category. That has saved us quite a bit of money. I also enjoy the shorter lines and the no wait for tendering. I have used CO on both the older ships and the Pinnacle ships. I did prefer the dedicated CO dining room on the Nieuw Statendam (Pinnacle class) but still appreciated having the shorter line for the MDR on the Nieuw Amsterdam (Signature class). I also took advantage of the expanded room service menu. I can't think of anything I disliked.
  8. I think it's a good move. Sometimes there would be 2 and even 3 on occasion on the 1st page. It gets to be like the pinned posts, too much clutter.
  9. That's quite a menu! It would be really difficult to choose1
  10. What type of activities is your husband interested in? It may be that HAL just isn't a good fit for him.
  11. Lokrum Island, just a very short ferry ride from Dubrovnik was a favorite of ours. But, we have not visited since Game of Thrones was filmed there. That could have changed the experience. It had been a nice place for a swim and a walk, leaving behind the chaos that Dubrovnik is on ship days.
  12. That is a good change especially as you will have had an overnight in Stockholm. I hope you have a wonderful cruise!
  13. I would disagree! Anything that Rick Steves recommends becomes over run with tourist very quickly.
  14. I don't know about other lines but HAL has trays under their ice buckets in your cabin. They're not huge but I have used them to bring snacks back to the cabin😊
  15. You get to choose any available cabin in the meta category that you booked. Example - Book an obstructed view balcony and upgrade to any balcony of your choice. It does not have to be the highest category.
  16. Check what the refund options are for the private tour provider and check reviews on TripAdvisor or Yelp or whatever your preferred site is. In most cases, the private tour is better and less expensive.
  17. No, it shouldn't. Your email is tied to your Mariner number. However, with HAL's tech issues I wouldn't be surprised if it did show up at a different price.
  18. On our most recent HAL cruise the last sets from BB Kings or Rolling Stone started at 10:45 and ended 45 minutes later. A DJ took over after that but I don't know how late they played because I was usually ready to go back to the cabin by midnight.
  19. If you're watching another table for an entire meal you are also ignoring your dinner companions.
  20. Anytime! Have fun learning about cruising. It does have its quirks compared with land travel but it can be so enjoyable.
  21. Hi Heather, welcome to Cruise Critic! You can request your preferred seating before your cruise. Contact your travel agent or HAL and make your request. There is a choice of an early seating or a late seating for fixed dining. You may or may not get what you request but, if not, you may ask again when you're onboard. In the future make that request when you book. Carol
  22. I would vote no on this. It is just too tight of a space for four adults to maneuver about the cabin, share a bathroom etc. And at night with the extra bed folded out, it is even more difficult to navigate your way to the bathroom.
