  1. On another note....when dining in Luminae, with few menu choices - and I admit to being too picky - I HAVE TO order from the MDR menu. If they stop that (and I understand they don't offer the MDR menu on the E class ships due to logistics), and except for the larger cabin, it won't be worth the $$$$s to me to book Retreat class.
  2. So none of this affects our cruise life with X...EXCEPT for the large increase in pricing. I understand the need to trim the budget (as some of us will do this year with inflation etc) and scale down the offerings somewhat, but in smaller increments, over time, it might not have been noticed ....which is what they've done over the years with little reaction. Jumping to the extreme was bound to generate strong opinions.
  3. You won't be if on the Retreat sundeck....lots of sunbeds and lounge chairs...at least during our cruises.
  4. We've been privileged to experience both non-Retreat and Retreat accommodation. I'm sorry the person who has, by his own comment, not sailed on X and is commenting as through he has, that he shares an opinion on the clientele. There have been very few occasions of rudeness, thoughtlessness, or manners other than what we enjoy in our day-to-day life. IMO those comments are rude and classless and insinuate that those who do not share Retreat level are beneath him/her and that those who are taking advantage of the move up offer will water down the upper class he is used to. Please enjoy your cruise(s), walk the ship in areas other than the Retreat, and you may find very pleasant, kind, and interesting folks no matter which accommodation they have chosen then come back to us and perhaps apologize for presuming otherwise.
  5. We were in aft suite in Nov. Not refurbished...still the drab orange and brown; we were a little disappointed. This was on deck 12. Saw a cabin on the way to the elevator that did have grey/blue combo decor so some have been done.
  6. We had the same opinion with the food on our last Nov. cruise. Short Luminae menu offerings so ordered from MDR's menu almost every evening. Lunch and b'fast very good. We were disappointed in Tuscan and Murano which has been our go to for almost all past cruises. Same menu but quality was 'off'. Service very good. Since MDR seemed to have more menu choices and on the Equinox the Retreat isn't 100% complete, we decided the 'Suite' life (do like the larger cabin though) isn't worth the $$s being charged now.
  7. We were on that cruise and in a suite...so Luminae dining each night (except for Tuscan/Murano). Staff was wonderful...celebrated my b'day and our anniversary with hearty barbershop quartet singing. A little noisy for the rest of the room no doubt. Both Retreat concierges were great....balloons on the cabin ceiling for my b'day and they spread (fake) petals on the bed for our anniversary....haha! Did you enjoy the Retreat sundeck? Mohammed was our butler...guess he switched from deck 8 to deck 12..but maybe there's more than one M.
  8. Did you call the 'move up' dept. directly? They were very helpful to me when I requested a cabin change. Phone # I had on an email: 866.752.4752
  9. Our son gifted us this pkg for our anniversary last month....the mimosas come with your 'order from the b'fast take out' menu which is a card you fill out night before and hang on your door, picked up through the night....it's as special as you like but we did enjoy our b'fast on our balcony. The chocolates and flowers came later in the day. The cake appeared at dinner. I wouldn't hurt his feelings by saying 'not worth the price'. You can order orange juice with your breakfast and spike it yourself with your own champagne. Flowers and chocolates were nice. Cake didn't get eaten...too many desserts on the menu and plus cake...too much. You can take any bottle of wine or champagne to the dining room and it will be served to you. Our butler arranged for balloons all over the ceiling in celebration of my b'day and flower petals ALL OVER THE BED for our anniversary....that was a hoot! However, doing something nice for someone else is never a bad thing. Enjoy your cruise!
  10. I've searched the site for answers as to how long it takes to receive FCC's. The posts were mostly in 2021. Does anyone know currently how long it takes for these to be processed and applied to a credit card? TIA.
  11. Does this mean if I'm in a C1 cabin I would pay C2 price? We're Elite +.
  12. I think I read somewhere on CC that booking onboard requires a non-refundable booking?
  13. Thanks for the tip! My DL had expired and never gave it a thought it might impact my renewal.
  14. can't mention the name or link here. Some online agencies show available cabins for all the cruise lines.
  15. Guess I should have clarified....not 'issue', but 'comment'. mea culpa.
  16. You're stretching to prove your point. Lets stay with the 'smoking' issue.
  17. This is most likely true, but you're identifying a very small market with the disposable income to provide the luxury experience on a very large ship. These 'younger' people will not fill that ship (maybe the Retreat). I also think many of the 'older' market want the very same enchancements to their cruise. If you think the majority of either of these markets are overly satisfied with the IV cabins on E class provided for their experience you haven't paid attention.
  18. I agree with post as well, but this is not a fair comparison....I'm not affecting my health by breathing in another's alcohol or trans fats...they just do that to themselves...😉
  19. Thanks for the tip....worked for excursions but NOT dining. Been trying since last Friday with calls to Sales, CVP, Captains Club. Finally got a rep to try to book for me. It was blocked to her as well....so in exasperation I sent a note to President's office. That may get someone to intervene or at least contact IT to unlock my booking (and maybe several other posters with the same problem).
  20. Still can't access dining, but did rebook excursions using one poster's 'round about' way of getting into Plan My Cruise. Trying to get through to X to find out if there is a problem for only some of us, but wait is waaay toooo long on hold.
