  1. I’m really enjoying your review. And you’re making me really want to try an Alaskan cruise. Do you have any excursions booked? I know Alaskan excursions can be $$$ and we’re not big organized tour people. I always wondered if we could have fun in Alaska just wandering around on our own.
  2. So they call it cruise elegant now you’ll see a wide range of people who really want to dress up nicely and then others who don’t want to. I don’t think there’s any ships that don’t do it at all. But you’re not required to do it.
  3. Oh there’s flamingos at the port area in costa maya? That’s pretty much what we just did on our cruise. We just stayed in the port area as we weren’t sure what our kiddos (currently 4) would enjoy. We were more than fine doing that and still would be for this cruise. I just don’t know anything about this port, so I wasn’t sure if there was anything that is a don’t miss activity!
  4. We’re in the beginning stages of planning a cruise next summer. We’re going to Cozumel, mahogany bay, and costa maya. We know we want to do the beach in mahogany bay, unsure of Cozumel yet, and we’ve never been to costa maya. Our kids are still on the young side, they’ll be almost 6 for this cruise. I am hoping to find something that they would love without breaking the bank. Any family friendly things you can think of? I’m not at all against doing a ship excursion but don’t necessarily want to wander off on our own like we did before kids.
  5. Do you know how much the magic chair rides are if you don’t have a cabana?
  6. So it’s neither. It’s a couch, but the part you sit on flips over to make a bed. My 4 year old twins shared it because they didn’t want to do the Pullman. It was a tight fit that wouldn’t probably work when they’re older, but they didn’t mind this time. I attached a pic.
  7. Honestly, if you have an itinerary and a deal you’re willing to book, do it. Especially in the Havana area I think you’ll be fine. Is the service comparable with Celebrity? Probably not. But, that doesn’t mean you won’t have a good time! I’d say go for it.
  8. Ugh the speakers. I don’t mind them when people use them in their rooms. But one past cruise we had a balcony neighbor who had their own dance club on their balcony. Like dude, no one wants to hear it.
  9. Thanks for doing a live review. I’m sure they’re a lot of work but I really enjoyed it!
  10. Wow, your pictures are incredible! Barcelona is for sure on my bucket list one day.
  11. I thought the same thing and wondered who else would comment!
  12. Wonderful review so far! I can’t wait to read more. Thanks for putting the time into this!
  13. Wow, this trip sounds amazing! I’ll be following along!
  14. I mean, it does matter though! Because yes if you’re platinum you can arrive anytime you want not just in that window of time. But if for some reason they’re not letting people even in until 11, you don’t want to get there at 10. If you get what I’m saying. Or if everyone is going to be getting there early not realizing it’s going to be chaos!
  15. I’ve heard of it happening but I think it’s pretty uncommon. If you think about how many pieces of luggage they process I’m sure the % is pretty low. But just as with the airlines, it does happen. I have AirTags in all my luggage and it’s a nice way to keep track of them.
  16. Honestly, I was prepared for the worst after reading the candy straw posts before our cruise. Yes they got slimy, but I didn’t eat them so I didn’t care. They weren’t as bad as I thought they would be. I agree, I’d rather have plastic straws. But it just made me drink my drink a little faster. My kids enjoyed eating them though. Basically I wasn’t bothered enough with them to carry my own
  17. On the Mardi Gras this past January, we got very mixed reviews on if it would be or not. Ours was. As soon as we boarded and we boarded in the early priority group, we went straight to our cabin and the keys were in the mailbox. So we had only intended to drop off our bags, but we stayed a few minutes and then headed out for lunch. After lunch we did come back before the 1:30 time and no one minded.
  18. I’m following along! Wow, you’re brave with the flight. And that poor couple with the passport. I hope they got something figured out. How sad. I can’t wait to read more!
  19. It’s possible? Maybe a big wedding? Or maybe an inspection Carnival already knows about and they know they won’t be able to process people earlier than that?
  20. We loved it too! Probably our favorite until we sail on the Jubilee. I never felt like it felt as crowded as the numbers said.
  21. I haven’t had both. I had the chocolate and loved it!
  22. Your boarding passes will still say priority on them which will allow you to show up before that. I’m not sure if Long Beach has a priority lounge, but if they do you’ll be in there and you’ll have early boarding too. Ignore the time slot.
