  1. I sailed in an interior for 12 nights with 2 friends - as the youngest (at 44!) I was in the bunk bed (pull-down from the ceiling)! It was a bit snug in the cabin with extra person and luggage We said we'd look at a balcony next time to give ourselves more room
  2. If you're able to locate West Quay shopoing centre - very near to the port - in the upper section there's lots of eating places and next to the shopping centre there is a separate complex full of restaurants Hope that helps
  3. I've cruised with RCL 8 times too and have cruised with P&O twice. First time was on Oriana - Northern Lights itinerary; second time on Britannia. P&O are different from RCL but I liked both. RCL has more wow entertainment - flowrider, rock climbing wall, bumper cars, parades etc. P&O seems quieter, no wow entertainment. I would say it depends if you're cuising for the ship and its features or for the itinerary I would certainly look at P&O in the future as their pricing is more my budget at the moment and the ship facilities suit my needs
  4. Thanks for your cruise blog. I've loved reading it, sounds like a fabulous cruise. It brought back happy memories of my Baltic Cruise in 2018 - and I'd love to go to the ports you went to. Sorry to hear you got Covid; hopefully you're feeling better now
  5. Found this review earlier today and finished catching up on all 20 pages! have a fab time, looking forward to hearing more and seeing your pics
  6. My parents are sailing with Fred Olsen today from that terminal
  7. Not from a cruise but I recently went to a festival. I started to feel unwell on the Wednesday (festvial finished on Sunday), tested negative for 3 days before a positive on the Saturday. Sometimes it takes a while for the positive to show up. If you continued to feel unwell medical should have tested you daily. Hope you feel better now
  8. but not in time for Monday!! Personally I would rather people did a test before boarding (I know covid is still doing the rounds). My parents have basically been shielding for 2 1/2 years and I don't want them to get covid now; they are mutli-jabbed but both have health problems which would worry me if they test positive
  9. depends what's going on around the ship, whether the next day is a port day, excursion booked etc
  10. depends what time I get up!! If in time would be MDR, if later or in a rush would by Windjammer
  11. I got Covid last month after attending a festival and that positive line seemed to be permanently on the the test cassette! Fred Olsen rules say "the day before you sail"
  12. My parents are going on a cruise with Fred Olsen on 1st August. The requirements since 8th July are for them to do a lateral flow test the day before they go and take the test cassette with them to show they are negative. There is a charge at Southampton of £25 if anyone forgets to take their test with them and has to be provided with a kit. Random testing at the port will be done Would people take someone else's test so they could board?!
  13. Thank you for the mention of flu jabs. It has prompted me to book one at the Boots where I work so I can pop out during my working day. The appointment isn't until mid-September but at least it's now in my diary
  14. Thank you. they booked with a TA so I think bag tags and tickets will come from them. I will go onlibe at the weekend with their booking reference to see if I can help them with trips. It's a British Isles cruise. They've crusied with Fred a few times and booked witrh the same TA but communication seems to be more lacking this time
  15. Thank you for your fabulous review including your unexpected days in Munich! I'd love to do a Greek Isles cruise 😀
  16. Thank you. My parents don't do "online" so they were told they'd get something through the post. It looks like I'll be searching for them!
  17. Many thanks for all replies. My parents have a box of lateral flow test kits so will use that and take the test cassettes with them. They have not heard anything from Fred Olsen regarding testing! But then they also haven't heard anything about shore excursion options either
  18. My parents are due to sail on 1st August from Southampton around the British Isles. Is anyone able to advise whether there is a requirement for them to do a covid test before they go? If so, can this be a lateral flow test? Thanks for any answers; my parents are elderly and are not sure of the current regulations
  19. sorry to jump on this thread to ask a question - with the refreshment package do both of you have to purchase it or can it just be one person (not to be shared)?
  20. only been there for lunch but another vote for Bill's
  21. I thought this was the case for UK passports - regardless of destination
