Just off the Century. Definitely a lot of vibration aft when they're using the thrusters. I had cabins just behind the aft elevators.

I tried to move from just back from the aft elevators to the C1 category midship ...and no go. They were going to have to rebook the whole cruise and would lose my Zaca Mesa package, as well as the beverage package. My TA even tried to use my Elite status for the one free category upgrade and they just wouldn't do it. I was willing to pay for moving more midship....nope. They did say I could try to upgrade while onboard but I have not had any luck with that. I will pretend the vibration is soothing me to sleep. I am going to enjoy it despite the vibration.

Update from the ship. Noise level appears to be reduced thanks to passenger complaints on this cruise and the previous 2 cruises and help from bar servers who reported our complaints.

We are in the aft-most deck 9 Concierge Class cabin. So far no vibration but the cruise is young and we have spent 2 days at sea. I will report back on this later.

Cova Cafe continues to be wonderful and our favorite hangout. Bar servers here are the best!

We just got off the Century Sunday. We had a Sea Day Brunch Saturday from 10 am till 1 pm. Very disorganized getting in. Finally a waiter out put us at a table with a dirty tablecloth and we asked for a clean one. Had mostly breakfast items. Waffles were great, and you could get omelettes, bacon, ham. The usual. The one thing that we went for and that was notably missing was shrimp cocktail. No shrimp at all except for the tiny ones in Shrimp Ceviche. We didn't go until about 12:30 so maybe they had run out but we saw none.

Hi Kathy! Glad to hear that this leg is quieter. That being said, I can almost guarantee that you will feel it when the ship pulls into the first port (tomorrow morning?). Granted, our cabin was a deck down from yours, and slightly more aft -- but we thought we had a "magic fingers" bed, docking in Nassau on the first cruise! :p Funny thing -- on our Hawaii cruise, I'd heard vibration complaints from some of the folks in the aft cabins. But, we never felt anything in our deck 12 midship skysuite, on that one. How do you like your new cabin, so far? Hope you and Jack have a great cruise!

We went early and we didn't see any shrimp either. However, I thought it was very organized. We were seated at a very nice table and it was easy to find .... I always forget where I am in a buffet.:p We enjoyed it and thought it was nicer and more organized than the last one we went to which was on Millennium (but that was a 5 dayer).

Wish I could tell you that this was a fluke, but -- from what I can tell -- this is a fleet-wide change in the sea-day buffet. Last year on Equinox, I searched all over for shrimp (or any other kind of shellfish). When I finally asked the maitre'd, he pointed me to the ceviche station. That was the only shellfish they had at the buffet. :(

My sea-day brunch had shrimp cocktail on Jan 20 Connie sailing. Also had ceviche and seafood pot pies. We were there around noon.

Hi joetop,

Fwiw, they did not run out of shrimp. The ceviche is a change from the previous shrimp cocktail offered at the buffet. It's likely cheaper for Celebrity, but we thought the cerviche was tasty.

Excellent. I'm so excited for my friends, I know they're going to love this. This is their first ever cruise. I hope they love to cruise as much as I do and that this becomes their favorite way to vacation.

Thank you for your post!

Thanks Andy for the wonderful updates. We were on the Century on Jan 5th for the Panama Canal cruise. I've listened to others who have commented on the volume of music and one of the things I noticed in the casino was that there were several times (usually during announcements) when they had two different types of music on as well as the person in the casino making an announcement. It was difficult to hear what was being said at times. If they had something in the system that would turn off the music while the announcement was being made that would be great. I also noticed that when they were having many of the (drawings) near the stores (which is near the Cova cafe) they usually had music playing at that time which made it difficult to hear the announcements. If they could have had the band take a quick break for the announcements it would have been nice. I can see both sides of the coin where some would not want to hear the announcements as well.

We had a wonderful time on our cruise. There were just a few things that we were disappointed in....lack of lighting in the dinning room, the service in the dinning room was not as stellar as prior cruises that we have been on but overall we had a great time. Thanks Andy for all of your comments.

Andy, shrimp cocktail update. Last night was the 1st night on this cruise that I ordered shrimp cocktail. I thought I only got 3 shrimp in the cocktail, but one was buried under the others for a total of four.

Suzanne, we love the cabin and the veranda perched over water with forward and aft views! I am sitting here now as we pull into St. Croix. It has been quiet here. No "rude" people are looking down from the Sunset Bar yelling out our names to get our attention like two people did a couple times with you. We had slight vibration last night for around 10 seconds at midnight. We did get some of that light "fish tailing" last night that we often get in the aft cabins; the very slight vibration now as we pull into St Croix is similar to that. I'll report on how the vibration during the rest of the cruise compares to previous times in aft cabins. We have been aft before in rough seas (Bay of Biscay on Infinity in sunset veranda and east coast nor'easter on Mercury in last aft inside cabin) and it can be an adventure; in those cases it was an adventure no matter where on ship but just more so forward and aft. (Posted from Cova Cafe a couple hours later)

Glad to hear that you guys are enjoying the cabin, Kathy! We loved the balcony -- it reminded me of the "end" Sweet Sixteen cabins on Millie Class. Have fun in St. Croix today!

We were on the 10 night wine/transition cruise from Vancouver to San Diego in Sept. Loved the Century and the entire cruise. We had a Celebrity Suite aft under the Sunset Bar. On the last day, as we were watching sailing away from Catalina our balcony, the Sunset bartender leaned over the railing and said "Bob, Laurie may I bring you a glass if Chardonnay?" I said no. Please bring me a cold bottle and two glasses. He did. That's Celebrity service.

As to aft vibration, we felt nothing excessive during the cruise. We have booked aft on the Eclipse in April '14.

Andy, we look forward to sailing with you again. We met on the Nov. 16th Eclipse cruise. Bob

We are returning to Century at the end of March for a Pacific Coastal Cruise. I do expect some cost reductions, which suck, but we still expect to have a great time. Hopefully the new crew will figure out the routine by then.

I will count the shrimps in my cocktail. I do remember when Celebrity actually had caviar, but I bet those are long gone.

Are there still Escargot?

Hi Kathy,

Glad to hear. Perhaps they had a shrimp shortage on the last sailing, or Celebrity read what I wrote, and sent a memo to the ship LOL. At any rate, glad things are going well for you.

Please say hi to everyone at the Cova Cafe for me, and I'm craving my usual Iced Chocolate. Can you send me one, with some of their heavenly biscotti ? :)

Thanks for your updates, and have a wonderful time onboard Century. I miss her already.

Why would you want to count the shrimp in your cocktail? Just tell your server you want one with 4, 6, 8, 10, or however many you want.

I think 10 might be extreme, though. I was just mentioning it, as the "shrimp count" has been a frequent topic on this thread, for some peculiar reason.

I will be looking high and low for the escargot, though.

I do remember, and I hope it is still being served, that there was an Appetizer in Murano called "Escargot Tortellini". Now that was something special! :)

Hi Cursdesilets,

Yes, Escargot is available every day, and it's as good as ever ! Hope this helps.

Thanks ANDY! Escargot are not part of my daily diet, so I do so look forward to them on our "cruise diet".

Are there any other things on Century that stood out as must tries, eating wise?
