A type C will work just fine in an F. If you google 'gain extra outlets cruise' you'll find the first post has an explanation of a few options.

Thank you Bill for answering that question. Although they're cheap, I'm glad I don't have to buy a new adapter.

The new interactive TVs have NO way for you to hear the announcements in your cabin. They are working on making it happen - hopefully soon.
That is so frustrating! You can get all of those other announcements, but not this one? Hopefully this will be fixed before our next cruise.....waiting in the room is one of the benefits I love.

No announcements on the TV in the room, only in the corridor.

Captain's message, CD's announcements, port and disembark information all only in the corridors. If you have noisy neighbors who like to stand and talk in the hallways - too bad. They will only talk louder to drown out the PA system.

You can hear the announcements on the TV if you turn to the Bow Camera channel, I think either 41 or 43. Turn up the volume and you will hear the announcements during disembarkation.

There is no channel 41 or 43 on the new INTERACTIVE TVs, which is what we were discussing, somehow that got dropped somewhere in the posts.

No cabin announcements on the new interactive TVs. They are working on it, but it is not available now. I'm on the Oosterdam right now, I know of what I speak and I am not happy. Just had to go to the corridor to hear the Captain's message and the CD's update for this evening.

Carol, When we were on the Zuiderdam this past November we had the new interactive TV and the channel that shows the map, ships location, wind, weather and other such info did have the important announcements, i.e., Muster Drill aka Passenger Safety Drill, Disembarkation, etc., But only the Important announcements. Captain and CD twice daily announcements could only be heard outside of the stateroom.

I couldn't hear them call the colors on either of my last two cruises. K'dam and NA both Feb end dates, I couldn't find them on any of the offered channels [i never thought of propping open the door]. We do get the important announcements on the cabin speaker - when we had to miss a port this morning - and of course the safety video is on its own channel on the TV.

Maybe I'll find the channel for the colors this Friday.

There is a bow camera channel. It's under "Live TV" "Forward Camera", but I can't remember if it had the announcements on it. You probably discovered it and I assume there were no announcement there.

I wish I could remember how I finally got announcements on our interactive TV in December on the Nieuw Amsterdam to work. I remember being surprised and then annoyed that they weren't coming on, and then I found them by accident. I will ask my sister if she remembers. I have a feeling it was on the map channel or the live cams. I do remember that you had to turn it up REALLY LOUD in order to hear it.

We just realized that the 11 pm hour might be a bit late for us on our Alaska cruise. My wife and I stay up late but we are East coast timezone people. We are not sure how well we will adjust to the time change. In NY last call is 4 AM but I think that would be midnight in Juneau.

I find it really easy to adjust to time changes when I head West. (Including Europe to North America.) Where I have difficulty is when I head East. It seems that going forward in time is easier than going back. haha

Does HAL change their ship's time to match local time on their Caribbean cruises? I am thinking of Cozumel, Roatan, and Costa Maya that are all on Central Time, while Tampa, HAL's home port for some Caribbean cruises, is on Eastern Time.

Yes.

There are only two instances I know of where HAL has not changed their clock to match local time---Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, and Murmansk, Russia.

We had a two hour change for Roatan and Santo Tomas. No Daylight savings time??? We changed our clocks one hour ahead for Costa Maya and then the port was cancelled. An hour forward again last night to match Tampa.

How big is the category I interior quad stateroom on Nieuw Amsterdam? Does it fit 3 adults comfortably?

Also, does anyone know how the arrangement of beds looks like? Is it standard or I can request for a specific arrangement. Thanks.

Are there any apps that we can download so we can send text messages to communicate with each other on the ship?

My wife and I have been using Ship Text for the past 2 weeks on the Volendam with our iPhone 6's. It works very well!!

Holland allows smoking in very limited spaces. Until last year they did allow smoking on stateroom balconies but that is now not allowed. There is a limited space in the casino and a limited space on one of the open air bars. On the last ship we were on that was all that was allowed. At the time my husband was still a smoker, thank goodness he quit.

Good for him!!!

I do not see a roll call for my Oosterdam Alaska Cruise May 14-21. I tried to start one, but apparently I do not know how. Can anyone tell me how to do this. Maybe it doesn't matter, since it is just over a month away and no one else has started one, I may be the only CC member on this cruise.
