We recently acquired the Home Trust credit card. Haven't used it as yet but soon will. Easy application process.

How long did it take from application to receiving the card?

I have the Amazon Chase card I will be so bummed if it gets cancelled! I've checked the box for pay onboard expenses in USD for cruise in 2 weeks anyway of making sure that happens?? Also I wish we could purchase the drink packages etc now online in usd because in canadian it seems to be over 30% exchange

I recall it was a quick turnaround time, perhaps 3 weeks.

I wish I knew about this sooner. We are cruising in 13 days. I guess there's no time for me to get the card:(

If it weren't for the snail pace Canada Post mail, you'd probably get it in time. :')

If you could phone in the application (some companys will do this) you could ask them to courier the card and you could have it in 5 days. Just a thought.

If you check in with a person, ask them if your account is set up to be charged in USD. Based on my experience before their default seems to be to not even bother looking at what you've selected.

Check the rate as you are about to set sail. Since Royal sets their rates once or twice a year, the prevailing rate could be better for you, even though you will incur the 2.5% conversion fee with the credit card.

If you decide to get charged in USD, there should be a place to indicate that on your sign and sail documents and then also make sure you mention it again to the check-in agent at the pier.

On a Princess cruise, we asked them to charge us in USD even though we had booked in Canadian because we were using a USD visa. They still charged us in Canadian on the USD visa so I had to pay the unfavourable conversion and the 2.5% on top of that. I was very unhappy!

Received our letter today confirming the closure of the Marriott visa as of March 15th.

The only good new is that the annual fee is being pro rated to reflect the closure date and that they are still awarding the annual free night effective March 15th.

We still haven’t received notification about our Amazon card.

I am thinking I should go get the mail! I should look into the Home Trust one shortly, as we have transatlantic booked in April.

Thanks for the link, I hadn't heard anything.

Confirmed, received my letter in the mail today for the Amazon card and someone on RedFlagDeals posted a scan of their letter about the Marriott card being cancelled on the same date. End of an era.

Yup got mine too.....and I just cancelled my TD US Dollar Visa last week before I knew this was happening.

Not sure how new Home Trust is. Read about it on a travel site and got one August 2017.

I received a letter last night from Chase Marriott Rewards Visa and it said that the card was stopping on March 14, 2018. Too bad.

Could you post a copy of the Marriott letter? Or a link to it? I checked the RedFlagDeals and could not find it.

I received mine in the mail today too for my Amazon Chase Visa. Sad indeed. Are there any other cards that don't have conversion fees?

I used a TD bank US visa last Sept on the Radiance and and the amount of my bill was what I was charged when the statement came - NO extra conversion fees. Think someone made a mistake on your bill. I keep a US dollar account (TD calls it a borderless account) just for any US purchases and find the arrangement works well.

I need to exchange cash for the trip, I was told the train station gives better rates than banks. We have an exchange center in our mall and a casino. What's your experience? Thinking maybe I'd just put cash on my sail account then won't have to worry about being charged in Canadian

It's an enhanced signup bonus offer for the Starwood Preferred Guest American Express (SPG is also owned by Marriott, will likely merge with Marriott Rewards in 2019)

That sucks. I had the SPG Amex and got rid of it because so few places I shop accept Amex.

I’m really bummed this card is going away. We use it all the time and have had a lot of free nights.
