Meet RCI President Michael Bayley - Live Chat Feb. 10!

Two questions:

1. Is Dynamic Dining becoming the norm for RCCL ships?

2. Is RCCL going to attempt to use Ipads for so much, as they do on Quantum?

Having thoroughly enjoyed our two cruises on Oasis, we were disppointed with our recent Quantum experience mainly because of Dynamic Dining and also all the effort by the ship to operate "smart" with Ipads for everything from waiter's taking your orders to staff compiling waiting lists for attractions.

As to dining, we travel with several other couples, and enjoy the traditional dining room experience because it offers many options, and we don't have to decide if we all agree on Italian, steak, asian, etc. If RCCL moves more towards DD, we are back to other cruise lines. We just got off the Royal Princess, and really enjoyed tradional dining.

The attempt to do everything via Ipads is comical if not annoying. Some things are best done with old-fashioned pen & paper. That's often more "smart'

As a long-time Royal Caribbean cruiser, we just sailed the Celebrity Constellation in a Royal Suite. We really enjoyed our suite experience. Will RC do more for cruisers that sail in a suite. Right now it depends on the ship that you are on. There is no consistency. Some ships have breakfast in a specialty restaurant for suite guests and some don't. Some have some function with the officers and some don't. I hope that you will bring some innovation to RC for suite guests.

Mr. Bayley,

Does Royal Caribbean have any plans to go back to a more rational pricing strategy for pricing their sailings?

Many passengers onboard the ships and here on Cruise Critic have taken note that the seemingly never-ending BOGOHO sales no longer save passengers money because having been ongoing for nearly a year, prices have leveled out to pre BOGOHO rates.

With these "sales" it is very confusing and frustrating trying to figure out what price you are actually paying, which promo you are booked under, and which fares are combinable with which benefits (balcony, credit card points, etc.)

Can we please get back to a more realistic pricing system?

Hi,

Does RCI have any plans to make 7-9 day itineraries for the new ships that are sailing out of New York or are they going to continue being 12+ cruises? I love that the new ships are so close to the New England area but I can't take cruises that sail that long as much as I would love to. Don't know too many working families that can take such long vacations like that.

Thank you for taking the time to answer questions.

Michael,

First Thankyou for doing this. I will most likely not look @ this live as 10 ET will be 7 AM in my time zone. But I do want

to make a statement and hope that you will answer it or @ least look into it:

In the survey it is asked of the guest if you met the expectations. But shouldn't you be asking what they are before the cruise? You can ask that

they be written and sent to the main office where all the answers can be compiled & sent to the specific ship.

I do think it is possible on the short cruises [3-4 days] for starters.

Do we pay gratuities for complimentary dining? Where are your public restrooms on your deck plans? Can we bring on board a 1500 ml box of wine instead of two 750 ml bottles? If we show up for dinner without reservations will we be seated at a larger table that has no shows? Can we make standing reservations for room service coffee every morning at 7 am? Can we bring a tray of food back to our room? Will we know in advance what exact pier we will be docking at? Can we use debit cards to load our seapass card? Can you load a muster drill video on line? What bank is your on board ATM machines with? Can we pay with cash at the bars or at the casino? Can we make dinner reservations from our in room tv? Can we keep receipts for every seapass transaction? Do the pools close at night?

We will be on Anthem - and want to keep Dynamic Dining - how will the new Classic option be launched? Do we have to do something to keep DD - or will it work so that people wanting Classic option will have to request it separately?

I've already asked the Crown & Anchor folks this question, and was told Classic will be an opt-in, you must specifically request it.

Mr. Bailey:

Please consider another ship in Galveston with a trans Panama Canal itinerary once the new Canal is open.

As much as we love RCI and live very near the port (20 blocks) we would welcome at least one new itinerary from here.

In addition, please consider the Carnival route to and from San Juan.

Hi Michael, when will Royal Caribbean reveal what is going to happen to the Allure when she has her dry dock in April/May.

Will the Concierge Lounge on Allure become the Diamond Club like on Oasis ?

Many thanks.

Hi Liz, Did you get answers to these questions, specifically about the DL? I submitted that question as well as if the DL on Oasis is going to stay that way but I have not seen my question posted on the chat yet? Thanks

You didn't miss them. I found answers to be very generic and no real concrete answers. Avoided some tougher questions. As expected. Wouldn't even confirm Harmony of the Seas yet Captains and Hotel Directors are letting it slip.

Amazing how CC members so often know more than RCCL Executives think we know :D

Exactly- I don't know what the big secret is as to whether the DL on Oasis is going to stay that way and if that is what will happen to the Allure:rolleyes:

Is there a transcript available

http://live.cruisecritic.com/Event/Cruise_Critic_Live_Meet_RCI_President_Michael_Bayley?Page=0

Hoping this works above, this is the transcript of the Q&A - although there were lots of questions that were not recorded or posted - I posted questions that did not appear, time constraints I suppose...

As you will see, not all of the questions were answered...
