Comments It's an amazing location if you spend a lot of time up on the open decks.  It is also nice to have easy access to the open area above the bridge for good views although that area is only open from sunrise to sunset on days it isn't too windy.

Here is a video tour:

Comments unlike older Royal Class DW (Deluxe obstructed balcony) there is a pergola below the balcony extending out. You can 'almost' see it in the picture. Will definitely book it again, in fact booked it on Enchanted Princess in September. Loveseat not sofa provided

Deck.       Riveria

Cabin #.   R410

Category. MiniSuite

Port/Starboard/Bow/Stern. Port

Connects With Cabin # no

Accessible. No

Quiet.    When the couples on either side of this cabin felt “amorous” I could hear everything. It was like being a blindman at an x-rated film!

Balcony Size. Bump out, 8’ wide by 4’ on narrow side and 7’ deep on bump out

View.      Port and forward — clear view of the port side fly bridge

Privacy Issues. The bridge officers can see you if you’re standing on the deep section

Wind can be an issue when underway

Soot none

Problems. Had a problem with toilet not flushing. During periods of high use, (first thing in the morning, and just before bed,) it worked. Off hours (2am bathroom run,) it felt like I was priming a well, or building up pressure, to get it to work. Had to press as many as 20 times before it would flush.

Category S2 Sky Suite

Port/Starboard/Bow/Stern Port side Aft corner

Connects With Cabin # n/a

Accessible No

Quiet Yes

Balcony Size Enormous, and wraps around the corner, with sliding doors from both the living room and bedroom opening onto the balcony, a small dining table with 2 chairs, and 2 loungers with a small side table. It's partially covered, which is nice for getting out of sun or rain.

View Unobstructed

Privacy Issues  Because balcony is only partially covered, majority of the balcony can be viewed from above

Wind A little at times, but not bad at all.

Soot A little, but was not too bad at all, even when in port.

Problems None

Comments We loved the enormous balcony, and the separate bedroom, as well as the fact that the bathroom is divided into a large room with sink, shower and tub, and a second smaller room with a sink and toilet. Also, there was ample storage, both for hanging clothes, and on shelves and in the many, many drawers all around the cabin. There were also plenty of electrical outlets and charging ports, including in the base of the bedside lamps.

Ship - Royal Princess

Deck - Marina

Stateroom # - M407

Category – QO

Port/Starboard/Bow/Stern – Starboard

Connects With Cabin # - None

Quiet – Generally Quiet. Early in the Morning we could hear carts and stuff being moved on Lido deck above us. It sounded like thunder and we could sometimes hear people talking outside, but not often and not loud

Balcony Size – Average

View – Balcony, but skywalk is on the floor above us and a rail holding it was to the left of the balcony.

Privacy Issues - None

Wind - No

Soot - No

Problems - Obstructed Balcony View.

Comments – We were upgraded to this mini-suite so we have absolutely no complaints, but the balcony was an obstructed view. We were fortunate that it is the end part of the skywalk, so no one could look down onto our balcony, in fact it offered a bit of privacy, as no one could see down to our balcony from above at all, but it also prevented us from seeing moon and stars at night. And could not get upper shots of mountains when we were to close.

Ship - Majestic Princess

Class - Royal (with Medallion)

Deck - 14

Stateroom # - R616

Category - Penthouse Suite

Port/Starboard/Bow/Stern - Mid Aft Portside

Connects With Cabin - No

Accessible - No

Quiet -  Yes

Balcony Size - Standard 2 chairs with dining table and 2 loungers with small table

View - Excellent

Privacy Issues - None at all!

Wind - No problems

Soot - Not an issue

Problems - None whatsoever

Comments - Just a short jaunt to the Concierge Lounge and the laundry as well as the aft elevator. The Concierge Lounge staff was amazing and being so close to the Lounge made us feel like it was almost an extension of the room!

The storage space is overwhelming (in a good way); having a full bath and very spacious separate shower is a bonus, not to mention that the toilet is just off of the entry, so that if you have guests, they can use the living room, balcony and toilet and you can keep the bedroom curtained off if you choose. Definitely would book again!

Ship - Discovery Princess

Deck - 9 (Dolphin)

Stateroom # - D706

Category - Balcony (BD)

Port/Starboard/Bow/Stern - Port Side Mid-Aft

Connects With Cabin - No

Accessible - No

Quiet - Yes

Balcony Size - Large (similar to Caribe Deck on Grand Class Ships)

View - Unobstructed

Privacy Issues - Balcony is 1/3 covered, so can be seen from decks above.  Can also look down onto the balconies of the Mini-suites below on Deck 8.

Wind - No Issues

Soot - Not an issue

Problems - None

Comments - The location is just off of the aft elevators and stairs, never heard any noise from this area.  On my voyage the area just forward was used as the quarantine area, so very little foot traffic in the corridor.  Loved the large balcony and spent a lot of time on it, the lack of privacy did not bother me at all.  Love that Princess doesn't charge a higher amount for these cabins than the standard Balconies.  Would book this cabin again and highly recommend it to anyone booking a standard balcony category.

This was a great cabin.  Has a larger extended angled balcony.  Great mid-ship location.

We had no issues at all with this cabin.  Except that there are lights on the promenade deck area below can shine up towards your cabin at night.   (Why don't they fix this!!!)

This is a great value to get a larger balcony with a Deluxe cabin, mid-ship, that is not really obstructed.

Ship:  Majestic Princess

Class: Royal Class

Deck: Emerald (Deck 😎

Stateroom: #E501/503/505

Category: Obstructed Balcony (BW)

Port/Starboard/Bow/Stern: Midship Starboard

Connects With Cabin: 501 and 503 connects

Accessible: No

Quiet: Very quiet even though it's near the mid group of elevators.  Only heard occasional people talking as they walk by

Balcony Size: Typical of BW class cabins

View: Obstructed (See various pictures below)

Privacy Issues: Nothing bad per se but technically being lowest balcony people above to the side can see you

Wind: Nothing special noticeable but we were in Alaska so you would expect cold wind on most side balconies

Soot: N/A

Problems: None

Comments: We booked 3 back to back to back cabins for the Alaska cruise with 2 of the 3 connecting inside.  With the outside partitions opened, it provides a long balcony but not very deep as these basic Princess balconies are fairly shallow.

We liked the mid ship location as it's just off the middle set of elevators and stairs. Being on deck 8, it's just 1 flight of stairs down to deck 7 where the atrium starts and 2 flights of stairs down to MDR.

These obstructed balconies are substantially discounted versus regular balconies on our Alaska sailing.  If you don't mind looking beyond the life boats, you can save yourself couple thousands of dollars for a family.

Any follow up questions on the cabins can be email to me at my signature info below as this thread does not allow questions.

Cabin location on deck 8:

Inside connection. Cabin 501 is on the left.  503 is on the right. With Princess, both sides can open the connecting door right away.  With other cruise lines, we had to wait for cabin steward to open for us as they are locked at first boarding.

20220806_123321.thumb.jpg.2f0a0639eb19dce42d61dd7141c0daf4.jpg

The cabin steward also was able to open the outside partitions right after we met him in early afternoon.  With other cruise lines, he had to wait for "permissions" from supervisors if they allow openings due to potential winds.

Once opened, 3 back to back to back balconies looks like this:

Category: OY
Port/Starboard/Bow/Stern: Port Side
Connects With Cabin # None

Quiet: it’s very quiet, only on 1 day there was a slight banging from the life boat (#24) outside the window but it has not come back.
Balcony Size: None
View: Obstructed Oceanview
Privacy Issues: no issues
Wind: no issue
Soot: not a issue
Problems: the light switch for the main room is unusual & shower temperature control
Comments: the light switch for the MR by the door operates differently then the light switches for the MR by the beds. It takes a little getting use to if you want to control the lights for the MR without having to get up each time to go to the panel by the cabin door. The light switch for the bathroom/closet area functions normally.
In the shower, making small adjustments to the water temperature can significantly change the water temperature.
The TV sometimes forgets how to operate and need the power cord reset in order to return to normal functions.

Comments Wonderful oversize balcony with large table and 2 chairs with 2 foot rests. Half of balcony is open to view from decks above but half is covered so you can have privacy if you want it.  Even though cabin is forward and we had very rough seas (hurricane nearby), there was very little movement, just a little bit more than in the center of the ship. The noise of the waves crashing against the ship was loud but it was the same elsewhere on the ship. Cabin was very quiet. We did not hear any noise from below or from other cabins.

Problems - There is a "room service cleaning location" (for lack of a better term) directly across the hall from this stateroom.  While it wasn't used all day long, it was used late morning, later in the afternoon, and right before bedtime as stateroom stewards use this space to clean up room service remnants.    They were noisy as they never shut the door.  All noise clearly heard in stateroom.  See images below, taken directly from my doorway.

Comments -  Stateroom felt brand new; very clean and spacious.  We barely used all the storage areas.  I loved being on this deck!  Just a quick walk across to the Marketplace totally protected from the elements (although it is outside).  Plenty of seating at tables, as well as easy access to pizza and grill items (and MUTS).  I would book this general location again in a heartbeat, but would select something away from the above cleaning station.

Comments: Stateroom was in a perfect location. Near the center elevators. Note that their was only 2 plugs in the stateroom but one in an odd place behind the phone but USB plugs on the lamp base. You could use the other plugs if you bring a universal adapter. Great view as we were pulling into Cabo San Lucas. Two decks down from the Lido Deck & a easy walk up or down.

Ship Discovery

Class NA

Deck Sun 17

Cabin #S217

Category BC

Port/Starboard/Bow/Stern Bow Stern

Connects With Cabin # NA

Accessible NA

Quiet Yes unless its 6am and they are throwing the deck chairs around as they arrange all the loungers for the day (Every morning). They are not quiet about it so it was a daily alarm. We would never book this room again for this reason.

Balcony Size Standard

View Non-Obstructed (Great view)

Privacy Issues No issues

Wind Lots of wind on sea days

Soot No at front of ship

Problems As mentioned the very loud lounge chair placing EVERY morning at 6am. Literately throwing the chairs around and dragging them in place.

Comments

If it wasn't for the the 6am wake up call a really great room location beside the adult pool and just a short walk to the main pool. You are very close to the Retreat  Retreat Bar (when its open) and Sanctuary and several hot tubs.
