Any reason we shouldn't do last cruise before a ship repositions?

Wondering if there is any upside or downside of the last cruise BEFORE a ship repositions to a different port. We are considering doing last cruise from San Juan before the boat repositions to voyages leaving from Galveston.

Cannot think on any reason to avoid such a cruise. We do like to avoid cruises that are close to a major drydock (either before or after) but repo cruises are of no concern. In fact we love to book repo cruises.

No reason to be concerned at all, it is simply another voyage for the ship.

I think I am missing something. I don't see that the poster says they are planning to take the repo cruise. I also don't see anything about a back to back cruise. Someone had mentioned having two different itineraries.

 

I would not consider "the cruise before a repositioning" to be "the repositioning."

 

Like many have said, it's just another sailing for most ships. I wouldn't worry about it.

The crew doesn't react that way, generally. And as to the comment that you may have crew turnover at or near a repo, the crew works fixed timelength contracts- 6 months, 9 months, 10 months, whatever. Not seasonal. There is at least some crew turnover almost every new cruise, and sometimes during cruises- because of their fixed time- in days- contracts. We had a stop in Brisbane Australia in September- two days before the end of a 17 day cruise around Australia- and 8 or 10 cruise employees were swapping out, including the Head Chef. It would have been cheaper for the cruise line to wait two days and swap people in Sydney, but a contract is a contract.

My negative experience has been on the first cruise after a repositioning. Especially a ship coming over from a long stay in Europe. The crew seems to have a different attitude based on the previous majority passenger nationality make-up.

 

We have done a last one before a repositioning and there wasn't any obvious negatives.

 

Now the last few trips before drydock could be negative with everything left to go to pot since its going to be replaced soon.
