Royal Suite Class program - Roll Out Date?

Recommended Posts

21 or 22 or 23 even - just doesn't seem like enough coverage for the number of the ships and star suites for something being promoted as a 24/7 unparalleled experience. That kind of hype is going to attract a demanding passenger.

Pretty sure it's 11, except for Harmony and her 4 bedroom suite (that one needs a dedicated Genie BTW)

It's also on 5 ships except that Ovation where it only applies to Australia departures.

Aren't you sailing soon with a Genie? I guess you may be one of the Beta testers

Sorry, i was in a hurry to gt that out. :o

What I was trying to say is "I" feel that the Royal Genie program is being marketed as truly personalized service and the Genie needs to establish a connection with the guests. If the guest ends up seeing 3 or 4 different Genies over the course of the day that connection will be difficult to maintain. But you are right, many people won't utilize the services to any extent (kind of like the bidet in those fancy suites) and some will monopolize them to death.

You could not have said it better, as it was exactly what I would have said.:)

I suspect as the new program gets established, after it's roll out, they might have to add another genie per ship. I'd hate to think they might change the cabin classes that get a genie, thus lessening their workload. The other thing I have to consider is the genie's work load will/can change greatly from week to week, so it will be hard to find the right balance.

Here is to a RC roll out going successfully.;)

I am slightly jealous and yet thankfull that I am not one of the Beta testers. I think Tom might be one as well. I am interested to hear of both their experiences when they return.

There was a "Genie Duties" that I saw online to be used as a recruiting tool for hiring. It listed all the genie duties and many of them used the words "the genie will coordinate" and "the genie will oversee".

With that wording one would expect that if a suites guest wanted an evening party or dinner arranged the genie would do the arranging and not necessarily serving the plates. He would be assigning waiters, bartenders, etc. for the serving tasks. (that is just my interpretation of what I read online).

The service might look exactly the way the photos in advertisements portray but the service will take place.

Everyone seems worried about the Genie having enough time for them. What are you planning on asking the Genie to do? I honestly can't think of a lot to ask them for?

Everything in those brochure pictures. :D

We've had a butler twice and totally under utilized them.

I just hope it's not to watered down by the time I save up to sail in a Star Class suite

I think you nailed it with this comment above in red. I think the genie is more apt to be on the phone behind the scenes arranging requests for their guests and others would make it actually happen. If possible I see them showing up up to give "the extra special touch" (minds out of the gutter ;)) and make sure all is going smoothly. Who knows, maybe they will up pack and pack you bags but that just won't happen in our cabin for a few reasons. One, it is a bit creepy. Two, what drawer did they put the stuff in? It would almost be comedic as you look in every drawer to find one specific item.

Secretly I wish they could save a deck chair like at Sandals, but I know this won't happen. Would it be wrong to ask the genie to sit in your pool chair until you show up at 8:30am?:p Much better than a random flip-flop with a ship's library book. That is a total joke comment, with a touch or honesty.;) That would be a big one for Lisa.

I think the RC BRANDED ACT will be the shoreside welcome and goodbye. I'm OK with it but if I have to wait to board the ship, as the genie isn't there, I will board with the masses. There won't be anything holding me back from embarking the ship.:D It will still be the same when you disembark only with a more personal connection, "thanks for sailing with us and don't let the door hit your a$$ on the way out".

I also suspect ships with genies will change their boarding to go as follows. B2bers, Genie guests, Suites and Pinnacles, etc down the C&A levels.

Will they call you 'Master'?

That's funny. But has been mentioned on this tread earlier, there will be some guests who want a huge amount of service. I could imagine someone like that actually thinking it would be a good term.:roll eyes: I don't think those lavender/purple genie uniforms look at all like Barbara Eden's costume.:D

Our family has never has a suite and may be a long time if ever we get to have one, especially in star class.... We completely lucked into falling Into the new star class suite program so Im going to take advantage of the genies services and I think planning ahead and putting things in the questionnaire they send to us is a start so they have a idea of what would help to make a great vacation for our family..... I guess along my line of thinking I would like breakfast on our Aquasuite balcony most mornings early to enjoy very beginning of the day when somewhat still quiet and the peacefulness of the sea around you.... Drinks and snacks on arrival to our suite would be great when we return on port days while we are all getting ready. I will enjoy having my things unpacked, not sure about everyone else in the group yet, but one less thing for mom to do. We have a few celebrations in our party so coordinating a nice dinner party possibly...

I would think those are all easily arranged by the Genie but agree with an earlier poster I think that the food would probably be delivered to an area close to your cabin by another person and then the Genie would possibly deliver it to your cabin. I don't think the Genies will have to run all over the ship to get things I think they will have helpers who do the running and they will take care of the interaction with guests.

Yes, Tom and I are the beta testers on Allure for the last week of May.

For me, I think the escorted boarding and disembarking are cool. As for services during the week, I can see taking advantage of the in suite hand crafted cocktails. A few times. :) And help with reservations and a few special requests.

But I can imagine there being some super demanding guests.

Maybe you could ask them to put up the curtain clip at night, to block out the light. :p

Tuck in and bed time story? Owen would love be that one.:)

I recall drifting off to sleep a few times as a child while I was getting my back scratched, so.... (this request would be Genie dependent)! lol

(just so that there's no confusion to any lurkers, I'm saying this in jest!) ;)
