wander Posted April 12, 2016 #1 Share Posted April 12, 2016 Just received advanced notice of the 2017 Grand Asia Cruise, including the itinerary. Pre- reservations only, actual reservations in future. Do to the agency I work with I have total faith in this information, escort even listed. (Of course, anything in the cruise world can change.) Round Trip San Diego - 80 days - leaves Oct 1st, return Dec 20th I do not know if the cruise is listed yet on the HAL Board - no time to check as I have a meeting to get to. Quickly, Ports include: (several overnights as well). Dutch Harbor, Japan (5 ports), South Korea (2 ports), China (3 ports, including Hong Kong), Vietnam (2), Singapore, Indonesia (2 ports), Australia (4 ports), New Zealand (3 ports), Fiji 3 ports), Samoa, Hawaii (2 ports). I will be seriously looking into this cruise myself. Been on the Grand Asia (sometimes South Pacific as well) 3 previous times - but each itinerary has had some different ports). Rare rafinmd Posted April 12, 2016 #2 Share Posted April 12, 2016 This has been mentioned on a couple other threads, one dedicated and also Pete & Judy's World cruise thread. There's also a roll call set up. I put down a deposit while on the Prinsendam last May and some people even knew about it on the 2015 World Cruise. ScottishMaid Posted April 12, 2016 #4 Share Posted April 12, 2016 Additional interesting ports on the Volendam Vancouver to Singapore Fall 2017, such as Hakodate, Qingdao, Naka, Ishigaki, Taipei, Kaohsiung. Also spring 2018 in reverse. We would like to do the Grand Asia 2017 but disappointed they didn't include Taiwan or new ports in Japan.

rkacruiser Posted April 12, 2016 #6 Share Posted April 12, 2016 Maybe I am mistaken, I thought I saw a possible itinerary for this cruise that included Nagasaki. No Nagasaki in 2017; have been to Hiroshima and visted their Atomic Bomb Museum and would like to visit Nagasaki's as well. The dates just may not work for me. To return so close to Christmas, when am I going to work on my Christmas greetings? On the ship? I want to see the pricing and do some more "considering" of travel plans for 2017. wander Posted April 12, 2016 Author #7 Share Posted April 12, 2016 aka cruiser - yes, pricing will be important to know. (HI! would be fun to cruise with you again.) refined - yes it has been mentioned and discussed for several years, ever since it was announced that the comparable cruises would no longer be "Grand" cruises. Most of the chatter I have read since then was usually based on speculation. Sorry I missed seeing the specifics of the dates and the itinerary until my TAs e-mail. In looking at the roll call (yes, I have been reading it but not as a member), I just noticed that the full itinerary was added by someone over the weekend, which I had not read since last week. Tampa Girl Posted April 15, 2016 #8 Share Posted April 15, 2016 What is the usual deposit on such a Grand Voyage? I know that the FCC does not apply. Also, does anyone have any idea when reservations will be open to the public?
Rare rafinmd Posted April 15, 2016 #9 Share Posted April 15, 2016 When I put a deposit on a 27 day WC segment was $1,250. I think that would be a pretty good estimate. Of course it's less for onboard bookings. I put down $100 on the Prinsendam to hold a space but expect I'll need to put down more when it is announced. I see the HAL website will be down for maintenance tonight, I hope they load it in inventory then. The ship is the Amsterdam. Tucked in between the Alaska Season and the World Cruise. sugarpink Posted May 9, 2016 #19 Share Posted May 9, 2016 Cruisespecialists.com has some preliminary information and the itinerary, which is subject to change. You can put $100 each as preregistration through them, which is fully refundable. Nothing on HAL site yet. I will be on the Amsterdam May 16-21, and will check with the future cruise consultant. I would rather book through HAL and then check all travel agencies for the best OBC and other offers. Often Costco has great OBC, but it's not on their site yet. I would love to do this cruise!!
