Princess Australia- Sea Princess World Cruise 2016

Recommended Posts

Always a risk with any cruise.

Me... If the Captain don't want to go somewhere, nor do I.

Exactly Mr GUT, the Captain is God. I have been on plenty of cruises where we missed ports because of weather.

This is what was posted on FB by a friend on the. Cruise:

Announcement from Captain- storm front ahead, full speed ahead, anchoring in Esperence Bay. Arrive Freemantle on Tues

not Monday. Missing Sri Lanka. Heading straight to Dubai. Disappointing but what can we say - our safety is paramount. So atleast 10 dats straight at sea. Joy oh joy [emoji16][emoji572]️

If they miss Colombo, after Freo it will be 12 days at sea, arrival in Dubai on June 4. Plenty of time for the Princess Pop Choir to practice anyway. The bars and casino will be busy.

Checking Marine weather in ye olde Indian Ocean off WA coast for the weekend/early next week, some 8-10 metre seas to be avoided.

Good luck to all.

Not quiet Uncle Les Mrs Gut is God, but she lets the Capt do his stuff.

I'm a strong believer in letting the experts do their job.

Nothing much to read on the two blogs, boring really. They need some big seas to liven 'em up, LOL.

Sounds like they're gonna get 'em.

The Bight bites again, wonder why the call 'em the roaring 40s:D

Just off the Sea Princess where we did the Sydney to Melb segment.

The sail away was amazing, and the vibe was fantastic!

However, the ship is looking very shabby. I am not a person who is critical of a few stains on the carpet here and there, but the state of our cabin was very tired. Furniture heavily scratched and fabrics worn, mirrors scratched and curtains faded (not such a biggie). However, where the sliding door met the cabin on the balcony, it was so badly corroded that it had formed a large cavity thru the metal of the cabin wall.

We had sailed on Sea Princess in the Caribbean about 7 years ago and even then she was looking like she needed a spruce up.

Second seat dining was like a ghost town, and tables for 6 & 8 had maybe one or two couples. A couple we dined with on one evening were trying to change to a larger table that had several couples, just to have some company at dinner time.

The CD seemed tired already, and in the 2 nights we saw him in the Theatre, he used the same jokes over. He & his staff will have their work cut out for them with the 10 days straight at sea they have ahead.

I would not consider a world cruise on this ship, and wonder why a larger class is not used. More space, more dining & leisure options to be had on the "Grand class" ships. I don't think that there are any/many ports that would not be able to cater for a grand class ship on a world voyage. I wonder if this will ever happen?

Totally agree, I have been on Sun/Sea/Dawn, all old and tired. Golden could have been put on the WC, she is a better ship all round, I was on her couple of years ago around South America.

These WC's are expensive per diem, I just looked this one up on Princess Site from Freo - Balcony cabin $38,000 pp tws, around $370 per day.

Standby for incoming, I know many like ye olde Sun Class vessels.

One issue may be filling the big ships.

However I predict that within a couple of years all three of Ye olde Sun class will wear the P&O badge.

And our Princess ships will be Diamond, Emerald and Golden, or something similar.

 I just had a look at the Signifcant Wave Height map for the next couple of days.

I don't think they are going to get around the south-west of WA without a battering. Looks like there will be 8 metre seas (at least) in that area for a couple of days.

Well maybe not Diamond after all the Asianisation.

Another issue re World Cruises...I was forgetting ye olde Panama Canal, the Princess Grand Class ships, Golden/Diamond/Star etc etc are too wide. The Panamax ships, Island, Coral and of course the Sun Class are ok. As are the Vista Class ships, QV, QE, Arcadia and the various HAL Vista Class. But then widening has taken place so ships wider than 106 feet at the waterline or max 122 feet at the bridge wings might be ok. I will check it out in Nov when I am in Panama Canal on Island Princess, take my tape measure with me, LOL.

Anyway back on topic, getting a bit crunchy out there now as Sea Princess heads for Freo. The ship's shop, sorry boutique will be doing a roaring trade in travelcalm etc. I prefer Scotch and Dry Ginger Ale myself, the Ginger Ale settles the gut down and the Highland Nectar calms the brain and heart.

You can tell that she is a professional blogger.

Johanna admits in her blog today that she is a guest of Princess, she is also pushing the ship's shorex. I wonder if she is 'going the whole way? Must be well in with the Carnival Australia hierarchy to get a trip like this.

In Melbourne today.

Anyone got the link to the Station Pier webcam? When I changed computers I lost it and its not coming up on any searches so far . Is it still running? Webcams have a habit of coming and going.:D

Someone might have answered this already but they've stopped the web-cams now in Melbourne.

Well 3 mnths ago i suggested that the golden, emerald and maybe diamond will mostly be based out of Australasia.2018 will be the defining year when Pand No,will have their new ship.Carnival is now looking at basing a ship out of melbourne.Adelaide will be the next big mover.Sydney is getting to crowded,Cruise companies are not idiots.Where do middle-class chinese want to sail to,now let me think,oh i know aus,nz and the sth pacific. Now theres an idea. And i will suggest that the Majestic will make its present felt.Dawn has gone, sea will be next and then the sun.Adelaide will be the big mover, the asianised ships will turn right, and the aus ships will turn left off,to tas,nz and the sth pacific.I do wish you lot would put some credence to what i say,or ill have to put my angry pants on.:rolleyes:

Laughed at Jo's blog when she said you can do the ships tour at a nominal fee......unless it's been cut back i am sure I paid over $100 lol

No doubt Jo got a Freebie for promoting the ships tour. Now I just checked her blog and the pic of her on the bridge with the Captain, do I see a blue cruise card around her neck? Is our Jo a Virgin Princess Cruiser? Ye Gods !!! The mystery deepens !!

The ship's tour would have to be AU$120 at least, I paid £70 for the tour on Oriana last October, but I must have drank £70's worth of nice bubbly in the Captains Lounge following the door, the tour took 4 hours and the drink another 2.

Back to the topic, no tendering going on today into Esperance? I wonder when SP will re commence her voyage, perhaps this arvo. So definitely Tuesday into Freo.
