Does NCL still read these posts?

Recommended Posts

Every Meet and Greet we've been on, we're told that NCL monitors the posts on Cruise Critic. Yet, I haven't seen any comments from their PR team in a long, long time. Do you think they still read and pass on our comments to their corporate offices?

NCL actually posted on that long "Can't Bring Water On Board Anymore" thread. But all they did was cut and paste from the email that was sent out to those affected. No real input like that of what was posted in the past.

Perhaps, but I don't think they (corporate office anyway) care. I don't even bother to submit the post cruise surveys anymore. I'm amazed at companies that treat their customers with such disregard. The on board is good, but other than that.......P.U. stinky!

If not for great last minute solo rates I wouldn't cruise NCL anymore. I only stay with companies when it is to my advantage. If I were paying thousands instead of low hundreds I'd have been gone long ago. But I'm also the cruiser that FDR doesn't want! VMMV........

I'm not so self-centered as to think that because a company makes a decision that doesn't appeal to me (like the recent rule regarding liquids), that means they don't care about me. For example, I think the Haven is a stupid, ridiculous waste of space and should be eliminated, but that doesn't mean that NCL doesn't care about me! It's not all about me. I don't think smoking should be allowed on any ships, but that doesn't mean NCL doesn't care about me. They have to care about their business, and they have to care about all passengers. Therefore, every single decision they make will piss off some people, since despite group think that occurs on this forum, not everyone is identical.

I love, love, love this. I never post on these boards, but this is one of the best posts I've ever read. Most people just complain.

If I could like this a 1000 times I would.

Hi M

Been a long time since we on the Star!

As to your above question....who knows! But they sure are making bad news on TV and the internet.

NCL use to come on her very frequently and post, but not anymore. I think they do read the posts. Since many got really nasty and especially when attacking Mr. Del Rio when he came on board, that is when they stopped posting and I think they made the right decision to stop. There certainly is a way to voice one's displeasure with a company and their management's decisions, but no need to attack anyone personally.

You didn't get the memo? This is a message board and companies are supposed to bend over backwards to please you and you only. And when they don't you must go on a long winded rant about how they hate customers and how you will never use their service again and how you know how to run a multi million/billion dollar company better than they do. Now, drop that reasonable attitude and go grab your torch and pitchfork and come back and start another angry thread. :p

:D

Well said, LP. Like Michael Corleone said: "It's not personal, Sonny. It's strictly business." ;)

When it comes to my spending, it is about me. I make no apologies.

Thanks. I didn't see that lonely post in the sea of many!

Too bad they didn't give any helpful information. :(

Hi!

We're going on NYE cruise on the Dawn out of NOLA. Maybe you'd like to join us?

And as for your comment, yes they are getting more than their share of negative publicity!

Someone probably reads the board, for entertainment value, if nothing else.

What may be a problem to some on CC, might just indicate a successful customer divestment strategy to someone at NCL. Customer divestment is the practice of a business for getting rid of their least beneficial customers. They might want to do so for a number of reasons. They might be their least profitable customers. They might cause poor morale or more strain on their workforce. They might be serial complainers. There are a whole number of reasons why.

This is an interesting article on the subject from the Harvard Business Review indicating both the increasing tendency and the reasons.

Nicely said. I feel exactly the same way (including the Haven). I posted some similar sentiments on the "long" thread and got thrashed pretty well. LOL I'm all for the ban, I stood in line at Black Falcon trying to get on the Dawn while this clown pushed along his case of Dew with his foot. I was about to commit mayhem on his butt. The things people get worked up about on these boards is pretty hilarious.

I understand NCL needing to increase profits, but I do not understand them wanting to get rid of the lower paying customer. Someone needs to take these inside cabins wether they buy drinks, specialty dining etc or not. We have always booked a minisuite or balcony but with the increases are now going ocean view. We now have platinum, UBP and SDP. We always spend a lot in the casino. This next cruise was a twin river comp. probably wouldn't have booked unless it was such a deal. We love NCL but have to look at price for next cruise before we will book. I guess we are not FDR's type of cruiser he wants either. I could care less about the ban on bottled water and soda. It is a very common ban on other cruise lines and not a big deal. I do feel they should honor medical reasons though. Not honoring it is just not right. My Mom had to drink so many Gatorade drinks per day with her gi issue or she would dehydrate and possibly die. nCL should recognize special medical needs of the passengers.
