We cruised a variety of lines over the years 9 total; more recently Princess, Holland America, Cunard primarily... none of the lines recognize membership in another line. That is fine by me.

Well, "fair" has nothing to do with it. It's a marketing program designed to get people to cruise on Princess, and if they want to change the whole program tomorrow and make status dependent on passenger hair length, they can. This is a business gimmick. Period.

You have just made a case why they need to up the number of days and cruises to reach these levels, it's too easy and fast.

 

On Royal Caribbean, it takes 700 days to reach their top level.

 

By the way, Royal Caribbean and Carnival only count days now. Can't advance in their loyalty levels by number of cruises.

It's a loyalty program. The basis of a loyalty program is so you stay loyal to one brand. How is jumping to another brand after you reached a status being loyal to the brand who gave you the status?

I know this is over 12 months ago re: the post from Living on a Prayer, it is possible to have more than 1 Captain Circle Function on a cruise due to the high number of Platinum and Elite members now cruising especially amongst retirees, however the function is by invitation.

Last month's Regal TransAtlantic had the CC reception split into two nights. Your invitation was one night or the other. They were on the 2nd and 3rd sea days of the crossing after leaving Cobh which were both Smart Casual nights (a surprise as it's always been on a formal night on my past cruises other than last year's 5-day which had just one formal night).

They probably didn't want to make it formal for one party and then have smart casual for the other. Formal nights are going to be spread apart on longer voyages. We have only 5 in 60 nights, so if the first one is first or second sea day, we only have 4 over 57 nights.
