Rare Jamman54 Posted September 18, 2016 Author #151 Share Posted September 18, 2016 Jamman, I was wondering when you were on Zenith for the hurricane. She was also in Bermuda with us (this was in September, 1992) and the Captain decided NOT to leave port early. We heard that they encountered SEVERE weather with glasses and dishes broken and I think I remember the Captain was actually fired....:( Karry, our trip on the Zenith was in August 2001. No hurricane, but really rough seas coming back from Bermuda.

skrufy Posted September 19, 2016 #165 Share Posted September 19, 2016 Jamman, On page 6 Patti is holding a drink on deck. Have not seen that glass before. Can it be purchased, and if so where on board. We will be on the Glory this February, maybe they will have it. Im a transplanted Long Islander ( many years ago ) and its nice to see your photos of home.

Im a transplanted Long Islander ( many years ago ) and its nice to see your photos of home. Patti is drinking from the then very popular mason jar glass. We brought a bunch of them home. The bad news is that picture was taken over 18 years ago, and those glasses are long gone! :)

Rare mizLORInj Posted September 19, 2016 #168 Share Posted September 19, 2016 (edited) Do you need to reserve seats in the Serenity area or can you just walk up and find a seat?. . . Did you have afternoon tea on one of the 2 sea days? If so, did they have scones? . . . MARAPRINCE Hi. Jamman54's fellow cruiser here. ;-) Not easy to find a chair on Serenity deck. And the uppermost deck was closed both sea days to to high winds. I believe afternoon tea was offered both of the sea days. Rare Jamman54 Posted September 19, 2016 Author #171 Share Posted September 19, 2016 Our first Fun Day at sea….. We were up at 8am. Since we had an inside cabin where it could be pitch black 24 hours a day, at night we turn the television to the bow camera channel and mute the sound. This way when it does get light outside, it gets lighter in the room via the television. Works for us. Looking at the bow camera, it is partly cloudy, fairly windy, and the seas are pretty calm….. Around 9am we made our way to the Sea Day Brunch in the Sunrise Dining Room. There was a little bit of a line, but it moved quickly….. To be continued….. Rare Jamman54 Posted September 19, 2016 Author #172 Share Posted September 19, 2016 Here is the Sea Day Brunch menu….. Patti started with a fruit plate, and then had a cheddar and tomato omelet with turkey bacon, and a small macaroni and cheese…… I started with a Caesar salad with jerked bacon, followed by an order of rancho hueveros and corned beef hash…… Afterwards, we took a stroll down the Promenade stopping at the Red Frog Pub….. To be continued…..
Rare Jamman54 Posted September 19, 2016 Author #173 Share Posted September 19, 2016 Foosball and shuffleboard in the Red Frog Pub….. Continuing on the Promenade. Here is the Taste Bar….. Rare Jamman54 Posted September 19, 2016 Author #174 Share Posted September 19, 2016 Here is the Shore Excursion Desk on Deck 3 in the Atrium, and its hours of operation for our cruise….. At this point, Patti wanted to do a little shopping, and I made my way up to the Lido to visit my friend Guiste at the Red Frog Rum Bar. At Noon, we got together in the casino for the first slot tournament of the cruise using our BOGO Platinum entries. It was at this time, when Captain Andrea Catalani made his noontime announcements that we were informed because of the weather conditions caused by Hermine, instead of being in Boston tomorrow, we would be going to Portland instead. Then the next day we would double back and call on Boston. Being in the noisy casino, Patti and I never heard that announcement, but we found out about it from the Captain himself later at the Diamond Party. As for the slot tournament, neither Patti nor I would qualify for the finals. Afterwards, Patti stayed in the casino and played some slots, while I grabbed the camera to go check out what was happening on the open decks. Out on deck it was sunny and the temperature was in the low 70’s, but it was also pretty windy. Here are a couple of views of the Carnival Sunshine’s wake….. Waterworks was open but there were no takers….. To be continued…..
Rare Jamman54 Posted September 19, 2016 Author #175 Share Posted September 19, 2016 Another view of the waterworks….. The SkyCourse was closed due to the winds….. There were a few people enjoying the activities in the Sports Square….. A few brave souls were using the hot tubs….. To be continued…..
