Name a thing you would like to see on cruise ships...

More comfortable cabin furniture.

Scent free cruises.

MDRs eliminated and replaced with different, smaller dining options.

Dry special dining options (Chef's Table Dining).

Workshops to learn new skills.

Eliminate ship wide formal nights. Ships are too large now and required dress should be reserved for select specialty dining venues only.

Lol I was thinking the same thing. A rollercoaster that circles around the ship and maybe over the promenade and then drops from the top deck. Pretty sure it might happen soon enough.

Or, to continue with a water theme - it is a ship, isn't it? - how about a inner tube float down a "river" through the ship from front to back similar to what you might find in a water park? Could even have an mild white water rapid section where the river drops to the deck below.

Happy hour at the bars on at-sea days. The cruise lines make a decent enough profit on liquor sales that they could afford to do this. Of course, the ship(s) would have to make certain that there would be a sufficient number of bar staff to handle the demand.

With your screen name and avatar, I trust that you are being facetious. If naval architects of yore could read these comments about how to further desecrate what once were majestic ocean transports, they'd be rolling over in their graves.

Love this idea! Even if only for a couple nights during the cruise.

Is room service now only breakfast and lunch? I thought cruise ships still offered 24/7 room service...

HAL offers no extra charge dinner on verandahs, as well as breakfast and lunch.

I'd like unlimited free wifi-. For those who are sure ro jump in adn tell me to leave my surface pro at home, please do not bother. If You don't want it fine, don't use it. No one is likely to force you fo go on line if you don't want to. BUT some of us, parrticularly solo travelers who are used to spending time on their computers, may like to have the option of connecting for as long as they wish without getting a huge bill. As it is, solos usually pay 200 % if we want a vvernadah or suite..

Seems we have the best of both worlds now- if you want internet it is available for purchase. If you don't want internet you don't have to purchase it nor do you have to subsidize the cost for those that do. I'm sure if the cruise line offered free wifi the cost would be spread among all of the passengers.

Yes, to some extent I was being facetious. I personally have zero interest in cruising on a floating amusement park. But, in the spirit of the thread and of the post I was responding too, I figured I'd toss in an idea that many people would probably enjoy. When Royal Caribbean builds it first mile long, 50,000 passenger ship, they could include a meandering river to float on.

FYI: I am being facetious about the mile long 50,000 passenger ship! They would never build it, right????? :D ;)

50,000 passengers? I don't even want to think what Embarkation Day at the home port would be like. The cruise terminal would be the size of a city!

I get yourpoint but the question is, what do we want. i want unllimited free wi-fi. And, yes, there is nothing free on a cruise ship. i It is either inlcluded in the fare or billed at the time of use or consumppiton.

.....combined with skeet shooting. ;)

Only if we can use the walkie talkies of those loud talkers as the skeets!! "Can you hear me - bleep?", "Where are you - bleep?", "Am I coming through - bleep?", "What did you say - bleep?"

With a ship that large, they could have an airport on the top deck so people could come and go any day of the week, just like a hotel. No more massive turnaround exercises they now go through at the end and beginning of every cruise where everyone leaves and another crush of passengers boards.

I had so much fun during a poker tournament during my last cruise (not in the least because I won of course :D). Unfortunately, there are not many passengers who like poker, so you need to be lucky.

Maybe more people would like to play more familiar board games, with a dealer/judge, like a Monopoly tournament for real money. (for instance 6 players, $50 to play, $10 for the ship and $240 for the winner). The last time I played Monopoly must be 20 years ago, but I'd sign up.

I would like to see a lot fewer art auctions and a lot less of those 9.99 sales.

I would like to see more live music poolside in the afternoon.

I would like to see a higher quality of both food and preparation.

There are plenty of cruise lines that already fit that bill (e.g., stellar food, no art auctions, etc).

My contract never said I should attend those "auctions", nor did it have a rule that said I had to buy, while a better word would be to invest in, a copy of a painting of a photo of a cat where the very famous artist was trying to express love and happiness and the very meaning of life itself after, true story, finding the love of his life on this very ship.

The ships sails because some people want their pictures taken, their hair dressed, and find the auctions most interesting. For me, the auctions are just a pleasant surprise, their existence shows that other people are paying part of my cruise.

Can't agree with you. Art auctions, cheap sales, bad pool music, and the casino all help keep the hordes away from my favorite bar and free up the lounge chairs near the pool. My favorite Playlist pounding through ear buds can drown out their canned muzak. That's a win win.
