crystalspin Posted January 21, 2017 #26 Share Posted January 21, 2017 How do you spend your days at sea? OOOH! I like to party! And by party, I mean knit and drink wine. And look at the sea. DH likes to get one of the Oslo-type chairs and read his Kindle. And look at the sea. He's another party'er!
Laurba99 Posted January 21, 2017 Author #27 Share Posted January 21, 2017 I should add I'll be with my 9 yr old and 70 yr MIL so we may need to do different things to make all happy. She is traveling alone (without spouse) so prob won't do her own thing. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
SuiteTraveler Posted January 21, 2017 #28 Share Posted January 21, 2017 On NCL ships, Epic and newer, we LOVE to go to the spa and spend the day there.
capecruzer Posted January 21, 2017 #29 Share Posted January 21, 2017 Sleep in a bit (until about 8 instead of our normal 6:30-7). Have breakfast in the dining room if available. If not, have breakfast around the pool or on our balcony if we have one. Lounge in the sun, swim in the pools, do some reading. We're generally done with the sun by 3 pm or so. Have drinks on the balcony while everyone showers/cleans up. We then spend time at the casino/game room/trivia at the bars, look at our pictures, explore the ship's crevices for places we might have missed. Love sea days!:)

Rare kazu Posted January 22, 2017 #31 Share Posted January 22, 2017 Sea days are fine by us ;) leisurely breakfast, treat ourselves to a lunch in the Pinnacle Grill now and then (HAL), walk around the promenade deck, enjoy lectures, play bingo (only time I play is on a cruise ship) as bingo is always fun with a drink in hand ;), go to some different wine tastings/beverage events, enjoy good lecures and relax :)

We met a couple that the husband had cancer and they were living out his bucket list. Inspirational to say the least!

taglovestocruise Posted January 22, 2017 #35 Share Posted January 22, 2017 I like the ships that offer water skiing and always go down to visit the glass bottom room to watch the whales and giant squid I read an article several weeks ago that said most of the cruise lines are removing the huge glass panels from the glass bottom rooms. Apparently sharks consider squid a great diner choice, causing the giant squids to attach themselves to the glass as a security blanket and cause the glass to crack along the edges. Having a giant hole develop in the middle of the ship could become problematic. I also read that many passengers didn't know the rooms were free for viewing.. happy cruising

We also spent our sea days like the above on HAL's Zaandam around Cape Horn from Valparaiso Chile to Buenos Aires. Favorite ship is usually the one we just got off. Aquahound Posted January 23, 2017 #38 Share Posted January 23, 2017 We have so many sea days on our next 7night. Thought it would be fun to share what people enjoy doing on any line. For me Royal(oasis class) would be watching my son zipline (did it once myself! But now I'm a watcher) Celebrity -mixology class once and behind the scenes kitchen tour and bingo and Disney- watching my son interact with any character. How do you spend your days at sea? I love the grass between my toes on Celebrity Solstice Class ships. I love lounging in the Solarium on RCI Oasis Class ships. I love the slides on NCL Escape. I love relaxing with a good latte' in the Crows Nest on Holland America ships. I love hanging out at the aft pool and drinking specialty margaritas on the Ruby Princess. There's a lot I love about sea days and as you can see, I can find a favorite activity on almost any ship.

screwsmcernst Posted January 25, 2017 #47 Share Posted January 25, 2017 We usually get up and walk a mile or two on the track, then we will go to breakfast in the MDR. After that, we find a spot on deck, to read, nap, drink, etc. We like to take a dip in the hot tubs, meet people. I can't just lay around all day every day, so I like to participate in the different activities on board. If we are on a ship that has mini golf, we will play. Table tennis, trivia, etc. Then we head down to the cabin and get cleaned up for the evening, we usually watch sail away from our balcony, or the aft bar area where we have cocktails before dinner. The ports are fun, but the sea days are our favorites. :)
