Allow me to go one step further for those that are still insisting it's late night only..;.

Here's the *breakfast* menu link posted today:

http://www.royalcaribbean.com/content/en_US/pdf/Room_Service_Menu_2017.pdf

Note it's from the US site and yep, want hot? $7.95.

Too bad, one of our favourite activities - breakfast on the balcony - on one our favourite cruise line spoiled by a nuisance charge. $8 per day isn't going to blow the budget but if you can still bring me all the cold stuff for free it ain't about the delivery. I understood that for late night - actually made sense. But a charge whether the tray has hot stuff or cold stuff on it? Seriously?

Sheesh.

Folks it's 7.95 PER STATEROOM....Are people really concerned about this?

It's a $7.95 delivery charge per order. Starting with the lucky folks on the 11 night March 27th Serenade sailing, most of whom are blissfully unaware of the change.

A hot room service breakfast every morning and maybe a little something half the afternoons or evenings during their cruise, and it's no longer just $7.95 but over $125 they didn't budget or expect when they paid for the cruise.

Awesome! Symphony of the Seas is exempt, and I am already booked.

Nope, not exempt. Just not affected by the roll out since she hasn't sailed yet and thereby never had free room service.

Right or wrong as I said before Royal has done this for at least 20 years. When Voyager came out first few months Johnny Rockets was free, when I sailed her 3rd month I showed up and they started charging a cover charge. No advance notice... Cruise lines change rate of tips, a lot lately, and if you didn't prepay you pay the higher rate...

I'm on that Serenaded sailing, well see how it. Works out.

As far as Symphony, isn't all the good stuff ala carte like Harmony?

Then your mission, should you accept it, is to report back how it works out on your cruise. No trays in hallways? Guests storming GS? And, if you actually order room service, quicker delivery with hot items hot and better sounding food actually better?

As far as Harmony, according to the roll- out schedule, she goes to $7.95 on April 1st. Anthem and Ovation also will be getting the new $7.95 menu. So for those ships, it is a better deal - until it's not.

If royal want to charge then that's fine by me and their prerogative, HOWEVER. I and many others have not had a choice on whether we can or can't pay this charge. I think the main issue it's it's implementation.

Once I've done these cruises then I may decide that I want to try another cruise line that is not charging for room service or way up the costs of the other cruise line and a royal cruise where I'm paying an extra $222 on a two week cruise. We tend to have breakfast on our balcony and afternoon tea in the room when we are chilling before the evenings entertainment.

I have 3 up and coming cruises and 4 staterooms, one suite on one cruise and a balcony on another were booked with Casino VIP Vouchers.

Do Royal really want me spending my hard earned money on another cruise ship for $16 a day?

This update was outlined in the most recent edition of the Crown and Anchor news letter.

Royal Caribbean is introducing a new room service menu that features several upgraded selections including a Wagyu Beef Hamburger, Philly Cheesesteak and Grilled Salmon with Cucumber Mint Yogurt and Roasted Asparagus. The upgraded menus will start rolling out on March 27th and be available across the fleet by end of May 2017. To view rollout schedule and the new menus, please click here.

As part of the rollout of the new room service, a delivery charge of $7.95 per stateroom order will now apply. Continental breakfast remains complimentary and the delivery charge excludes Grand Suites and above.

Wow, I just read the previous 2 pages and the lawyers are getting into it. It's making my head hurt. I think I'll got to the thread where this Pax is complaining about the cabin on Liberty as her child is in the bunk bed above theirs and affected their sex life during the cruise.

At least the kid isn't in bed with them. That is the best form of birth control ever invented.

Will you get casino vouchers and the other VIP perks on a different line?

Casino drinks, dinner vouchers, no cash fees, etc...

April 30th will be my 5th cruise and 2nd with RCI. One constant thing I remember is that room service took forever, arrived cold, and was underwhelming. If the food quality is better and/or the delivery is faster I'd rather pay the $7.95 fee then have it be free.

I sure hope people follow through and cancel their cruises. Less demand = lower prices for the rest of use.

But also for something that if they don't have still won't mean they miss out on meals on the cruise. They can keep the same budget but still have the same meals.

Just sent my official protest to C&A. If this causes enough flap, I really think they might back off...at least they did in the great Diamond Cocktail debacle several years ago...when they went back to the Diamond Lounge concept with food and drinks instead of peanuts and beer/wine. You opinion does help. Emails or letters do work sometimes.

As a last resort....MSC is winking at us.
