mcrcruiser Posted June 11, 2017 #202 Share Posted June 11, 2017 I read all these posts ;but FWIW why doesn't Celebrity communicate better & not take for granted that every one knows their priority & protocol . After all every one is their customers & must be treated with due diligence & respect After 79 (40+ with Celebrity)cruises we have seen a lot & that is why we now do land trips here in the states ,so we have better control over our enjoyment of travel .:D
caribill Posted June 11, 2017 #203 Share Posted June 11, 2017 Disheartening to learn that disembarking in St. Petersburg is still a hassle with Celebrity. In June of 2007, I, my husband and parents were scheduled on an Alla tour of the city when an announcement was made that all folks on private tours must first gather in a lounge on the 11th floor (far from the exit gangplank) before disembarking. Fortunately, I had a copy of a letter that my favorite travel magazine (ITN) had sent to the president of Celebrity about just such an issue. His response was to categorically deny any attempt to delay disembarkation of passengers taking private tours. When I showed this letter to guest relations, she personally escorted us off the ship, after insisting "But don't tell the others". I read all these posts ;but FWIW why doesn't Celebrity communicate better & not take for granted that every one knows their priority & protocol . After all every one is their customers & must be treated with due diligence & respect The better communication needs to be with the staff on the ship. SantaFeFan Posted June 11, 2017 #204 Share Posted June 11, 2017 The better communication needs to be with the staff on the ship. Agree. It's not Celebrity as a whole, but the individual ship's staff. We had zero problems getting off the ship and getting in line to go through immigration when we stopped at St. Petersburg on Constellation a few years ago. And that was for both days. We weren't forced to wait for the tour groups to get off the ship first. We just got in line with everyone else when our time to meet our guide approached. And, we didn't experience having to step aside and let the tour groups cut in front of us in the immigration line. Everything went pretty smooth for all passengers, ship tours and private tours. pspercy Posted June 11, 2017 #205 Share Posted June 11, 2017 The problem is not so much with the Celebrity but more with the Russian authorities. They are the unfriendliest and rudest bunch you will meet, and deliberately create anxiety and unnecessary wait!Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Not cruise related but the nastiest (airport) immigration people I ever encountered were Sydney (Australia) and Halifax (Canada). This includes many third world places and Russia & ex-Soviet places.

Pushka Posted June 11, 2017 #207 Share Posted June 11, 2017 I usually have no interaction with immigration on arrival into Aust with the scanner. Nothing to declare so it's usually very painless.

Not willing to call them out as friendliest, but their approach is generally not as blunt, nor as dour as a number of other countries' services. Hard to see how they could be nasty. What did they do that was so nasty? Did this occur multiple times or was it just a single occurrence?

I expect a single occurrence as can happen in any and every entry point to any country. I had a very nasty lady when entering through the Chicago airport. It started because I carried 2 items plus my purse and my grandson had one. Started in to how rude he was to make me carry more an she went on from there.. Just one nasty person having a bad day and I didn't assume that it was Chicago...
