pittsfordmom Posted July 3, 2017 #1 Share Posted July 3, 2017 I'll be traveling on the Coral Princess this month to Alaska. I wondered if meals are included even on full days we are in port.

skynight Posted July 3, 2017 #3 Share Posted July 3, 2017 Yes, of course. Lunch in the DR on port days is the only dining option that isn't offered. All other dining venues are open normal hours on both sea and port days.
sunsetbeachgal Posted July 3, 2017 #4 Share Posted July 3, 2017 Yes and one of the thing I love about Princess is that you can get a meal in the buffet all day long. Some cruise lines close the buffet for example after lunch at 3 pm then don't reopen it until dinner. Not so on Princess, you don't have to worry! satxdiver Posted July 4, 2017 #7 Share Posted July 4, 2017 Besides the usual MDR (sea days lunch only) and HC which is open continually from 6 AM to 11 PM every day, there is the pizzeria and grill as well as the IC (open 24 hours). Like others have said you definitely not go hungry on a Princess ship.
Rare jwattle Posted July 4, 2017 #8 Share Posted July 4, 2017 You have to try pretty darn hard to go the slightest wee smidge hungry on a cruise! :D
Rare 1025cruise Posted July 4, 2017 #9 Share Posted July 4, 2017 Just keep in mind, meals are included on the ship. Don't expect to walk into a restaurant in port and present your ship card to "pay" for it.
Rare geoherb Posted July 4, 2017 #10 Share Posted July 4, 2017 We miss having lunch in the dining room on port days. The dining room used to open every day for lunch until Princess instituted this new policy a few years ago. Occasionally we've found that they'll open the dining room for lunch on a port day when there's a late arrival (1p.m. or later) or early departure (before 1 p.m.) But you can't count on this. You just have to pay attention to the hours listed in the Patter.

CATGUY7 Posted July 4, 2017 #12 Share Posted July 4, 2017 Our dining times were a little messed up with shore excursions on the Emerald a couple of weeks ago. So we headed to the buffet. I have to say, the food was decent, at best, during off-peak times. And getting the attention of the waiters/waitresses was harder than I've ever experienced on Princess. majortom10 Posted July 4, 2017 #13 Share Posted July 4, 2017 On our recent cruise on Crown, we disembarked on Saturday, the food in the buffet at lunch was very repetitive and of poor choice. Do not know if someone thinks UK cruisers like battered fish but to have it on every day of the cruise is a bit too much and the service due to lack of staff was very poor compared to our last cruise on Emerald Princess. OCruisers Posted July 4, 2017 #14 Share Posted July 4, 2017 While we miss not having lunch in the MDR on Port days, there are lots of other good places on the ship to eat! (y)
sfaaa Posted July 4, 2017 #15 Share Posted July 4, 2017 Come back full. All day, everyday during the cruise.

We had the same issue on the Ruby in January. We eat most of our meals in the buffet and the repetition was almost painful.
lolane1 Posted July 4, 2017 #17 Share Posted July 4, 2017 Well, no one has mentioned room service. I have lunch delivered and enjoy it on my balcony at least once a cruise. It is available 24 hours.
