Colfireman Posted August 12, 2017 #1 Share Posted August 12, 2017 What do you like or don;t like on the Eurodam compared to other ships. I have been on the Zaandam, Grand (Princess), Millennium, Solstice & Eclipse (Celebrity). We are booked for next April for a Panama Canal Trip
freestyling Posted August 12, 2017 #2 Share Posted August 12, 2017 The decor, great crew and Tamarind Specialty Restuarant for sure!
Krazy Kruizers Posted August 12, 2017 #3 Share Posted August 12, 2017 The Silk Den -- lovely place to have a pre-dinner cocktail and look out at the view. The Tamarind -- love the food there.
veryseasonedtraveler Posted August 12, 2017 #4 Share Posted August 12, 2017 The whirlpool room in the spa is wonderful. I remember the afternoon Captain Kirk (Keijer) decided he wanted to be Captain for a day on a tender. He gave someone the day off. VermeulT Posted August 12, 2017 #5 Share Posted August 12, 2017 It's bigger than the Zaandam but smaller than the Grand Princess. I've been on her 3x now and getting ready for #4. I love the Tamarind restaurant. It's big enough that you never feel crowded but it's not so big that you get lost or tired getting around.
Cruise4food Posted August 12, 2017 #6 Share Posted August 12, 2017 I like that Eurodam has those VT staterooms on Crow's Nest deck with Juliet Balconies. Most people stay away from them because the balconies are small and being up at the top you can feel the sway. However, that means I can afford to splurge and get a VT balcony instead of inside cabin. Verandah/balconies on the smaller ships have too much of a pricing premium over insides. GradUT Posted August 12, 2017 #8 Share Posted August 12, 2017 We love a ship with a promenade. We always do a walk after dinner and sometimes earlier in the day as well on a sea day. The Eurodam's promenade works great for us.

Rare Roz Posted August 12, 2017 #10 Share Posted August 12, 2017 I had a suite and it was beautifully decorated in shades of gray, silver, gold and tan - very tasteful. The ship has interesting artwork. My favorite HAL ship of those I've sailed. Roz Sent from my SM-S820L using Forums mobile app
coachkb Posted August 12, 2017 #11 Share Posted August 12, 2017 We did a 14 day Eastern and Western Caribbean cruise last November on the Eurodam and we loved it. We danced in BB Kings Blues club every night (sometimes the only ones dancing) and the Lincoln Center musicians were fabulous. We found the food in the MDR very good, I'm celiac and they gave me the menu at dinner for the following evening so that they could adjust the ingredients to accommodate me. The salad bar was fantastic, fresh ahi tuna every day and made to your liking. We attended a number of the Microsoft lectures as we just purchased new computers and found it very helpful. We are booked on the Westerdam in October and with the changes it will have the same pluses as the Eurodam.

Cruise4food Posted August 18, 2017 #15 Share Posted August 18, 2017 Sent from my iPad using Forums Tamarind and silk den Just to let you know, on Eurodam the Silk Den is renamed as the Tamarind Bar. Not sure if anything changed. Perhaps others have visited both versions. Sent from my iPhone using Forums

rkacruiser Posted August 21, 2017 #20 Share Posted August 21, 2017 What I particularly like: the hydrotherapy pool and thermal suite, Tamarind Restaurant and Bar, Pinnacle Bar and the more "open" feel of the Pinnacle Grill. What I don't care for is the Eurodam's decor. Whatever is the monstrosity sculpture hanging on the Atrium's ceiling supposed to be? Looks like an unfinished stalactite to me. Beware of port side Deck 5 veranda staterooms forward of the forward elevators/stairwell: our Stateroom's veranda often had standing water during our Baltic and Atlantic crossing cruise more days than not due to rain. Our Stateroom Steward said it was because of not enough drains being placed in the scuppers. He did his best to get rid of the water daily (evening using a hose to suction the water from the veranda into the commode one day). Nothing the Front Office could do, but we did receive a plate of chocolate covered strawberries (like we needed more food!).
Tinknock50 Posted August 22, 2017 #21 Share Posted August 22, 2017 This has probably been answered elsewhere but what is the menu like in the Tamarind? I don't usually bother with specialty restaurants but this thread has me interested.

AV8rix Posted August 22, 2017 #25 Share Posted August 22, 2017 I've never yet been on the Eurodam, although hopefully will change that in a couple of months. But I'm going to interject something that hasn't yet been mentioned - !!! EURODAM's CASINO IS NONSMOKING !!! One of only two ships in the whole HAL fleet!
