Differences between Pursuit and Journey/Quest

We were on the Adonia twice this past year (to Cuba and DR). My wife missed the casino, but they were only week long cruises. We'd vote to reinstall a casino on the Pursuit, just like on the Journey & Quest. Would be pretty simple!

With Azamara’s USP being longer stays in port and overnight stays the hours available to open the casino are limited, during our recent 20 day b2b it was only open on a few evenings and one sea day otherwise it was just a dead cold space. Don’t think we have ever seen the casino crowded during any of our Azamara Cruises and management will obviously know if it’s a good profit making area or not.

Viking are Azamara’s nearest competition and they seem to be doing very well without casinos.

Yes I think this is the reason the casino will not be a priority likewise the shops do not get high square footage. I noticed far fewer staff in both in October.

However, there is no need for sports fans to abandon Azamara there is always your room TV supplemented by room service and a carry out from the bar.

On my recent Journey cruise it was more than hinted at that none of the ships would have a designated Casino in the long term, going forward. This was from someone who would definitely be "in the know". There would be a few slot machines in the area formerly known as the Casino but the space was underused and not a big revenue earner as Azamara has so many late departures and overnight stays.

I think they intend to use it as a piano bar and also for the band to play in sometimes. They did a trial of this on our cruise but I felt it was too small an area for the band. The music was very loud and we couldn't talk at all, so we left. In my opinion that area is just perfect for a piano player like Max or Ed or even occasional guitar music, but it is too small for the band.

So it's not just Pursuit that won't have a designated Casino. Although I'm not a big gambler, I do like to donate a little in the Casino so I find this disappointing, but it won't materially affect my cruise.

Told flat out by a staff member it was going

Guessing in the next redo

Not a deal buster for us, but we do like to hit the casino after the show...not much else to do in the evening. But if there is more in the way of live music (not loud bands, but piano, guitar, or even a string quartet like Oceania or even...please, please, please, a harpist) we will be happy. And as long as DH can watch American football or baseball (depending on the season) in the stateroom, we will be okay. I remember what fun we had when we were on board during Super Bowl a few years ago...Azamara decorated the Cabaret Lounge, there was a large screen t.v., and a special buffet. Unfortunately t.v. reception wasn't good, but everyone enjoyed the party.

The band played one night in Spirits on our October Journey cruise and I agree that it is totally the wrong venue for them.

The band are lovely people and we felt bad leaving but as we were sitting right on top of them the noise was deafening.

Good news for me if there is additional space in Spirits for Ed and Max. I love listening to them both.

Just arrived home from 27 days on the Journey - the gaming tables will be removed during the 7 day dry-dock starting on the 7th of January in Singapore. As for the slot machines no one was totally certain, there was mention of electronic table games. We will be on the 14th January cruise from Singapore and will report.

Azamara could release concept plans of the new Spirits area for discussion .

My wife will not be pleased if they did away with the casino on the Journey and Quest. Not a big gambler, but she does enjoy playing the slots some in the evening and on sea days (a form of entertainment).

We'll be on the Quest transatlantic in April, so we'll assess what the situation is at that point. If they are going, that'll probably kill Azamara for us for anything but a short, 1-week, cruise. No casino is also the reason we haven't given serious thought to Viking Ocean. May be doing even more Oceania and Regent in the future (we'll be back on the Explorer in January)!

)!

From what people have said, there will still be some slot machines, it seems that it’s the tables that are going.

I do hope they update the slot machines if they do keep them. The ones on Azamara are so old fashioned and quite boring to play.

I'm not a big gambler....never play the tables but I do enjoy playing the slots for a while in the evenings. I actually came out almost $500 up on my last cruise. I was very good and put it towards paying off my onboard spend. :D
