Rare kazu Posted January 8, 2018 #26 Share Posted January 8, 2018 Thanks for your responses. My dummy booking does not come up with a casino rate. I guess I am not one of the chosen few although my wife and I spend a lot of time in the casino and often that ends up more expensive than the cruise fare. Interesting, though, that I get a casino rate on Carnival ships, but not on HAL although we have gambled considerably more on HAL. As a few posters have said, "no rhyme or reason". bummer :( Just to be clear there is nothing that says "casino rate". It just has a lower price than what you saw on the main page ;)

Djptcp Posted January 8, 2018 #28 Share Posted January 8, 2018 I usually earn 5000-6000 points on a 7-day HAL cruise (also on Carnival) and receive offers from the casino host on the last day of sailing. I also have received letters at home from Club 21 and we snagged a Neptune Suite on our 10-day Panama Canal cruise in Nov. 2016 for only $700 per person (Interior cabins were only $99 pp, but we had had Neptunes our last 4 HAL cruises). I also receive free cruises on Carnival from the Players Club called bounce back offers. Interesting though last week I was booking the HAL Rotterdam using the View and Verandah deal, but when I was finished I noticed it said Casino Rate. Cruzin Terri Posted January 8, 2018 #29 Share Posted January 8, 2018 thank you for the clarification :) So my casino discount on my cruise comes from HAL and my casino cash comes from ocean players club? Or, is that also HAL generated? The letter I got on board told me to contact ocean players club for that. they confirmed my "casino cash" and sent me a letter. I am a bit confused. We have a casino rate on our next cruise but there is nothing about “casino cash” as you mention or a letter. Do you get this letter once onboard? Do only certain people get this letter for cash or do all people who get the casino rate get casino cash? How does this work? Thanks, Terri

Do only certain people get this letter for cash or do all people who get the casino rate get casino cash? How does this work? Thanks, Terri I got a letter the day before disembarkation on the last three cruises I went on. The tricky part was that I had to book the cruise 30 days from disembarkation. The prices were not good to make the booking within the time frame. The last time I booked a cruise I emailed club 21 to see if I was eligible for any Casino cash. Club 21 emailed me back and told me I was eligible for $175.00 Casino cash but they needed my booking number. I emailed them back my booking number and was told since I booked a casino discount through HAL I was not eligible for the $175.00 Casino cash because it could not be combinable. The room discount was more than $175.00 so I did not fight it. In my case I either get the Casino cash or the room discount but not both.

When I emailed them they didn't have the results yet from the Rotterdam and asked me to re-email back in a couple of weeks. When I did, they told me I was entitlted to the cash and told me to advise of a booking number. I did so and got the confirmation of my casino cash. I do have a casino discount price on my upcoming cruise. People in the casino that had played enough that were only on the TA got their certificates from the casino boss on the last day of the cruise. It was something special for the TA portion apparently. They didn't do it at the end of the Collectors.
ChinaShrek Posted January 8, 2018 #32 Share Posted January 8, 2018 Quite sure your travel agent can see this rate based on your Mariner number. If not, they can call HAL and ask. If you do a mock booking on the website, you can also see the rate, as long as you are logged in with your Mariner number. Thank you!
Cruzin Terri Posted January 8, 2018 #33 Share Posted January 8, 2018 Thanks for your help. I don’t remember if I got a letter from the Player’s Club when we disembarked the Rotterdam last December. If we did, i probably threw it away because at that point the cruise was so bad that we swore we would never sail on HAL again. Well, here we are ready to sail on the Zuiderdam. And we received a casino rate to boot. I emailed the Player’s Club and asked if I am eligible for “Casino Cash”. We will see what the answer is. Thanks again for your help. DaveOKC Posted January 8, 2018 Author #34 Share Posted January 8, 2018 Another thought - my DW does most of the gambling but I make the cruise reservations under my name (at least during the search and pricing phases). Does not putting her name and number in the system impact getting the casino rate (I know this does on land based casinos)?

Does not putting her name and number in the system impact getting the casino rate (I know this does on land based casinos)? If you're booking online you would want to input both mariner numbers. One or both of your numbers is flagged for a casino rate. The same applies when you book with a travel agent or directly with HAL phone rep. The easiest way to get this info is to call HAL and ask them if either of you qualify for the casino rate.

Does not putting her name and number in the system impact getting the casino rate (I know this does on land based casinos)? I do the bookings and check pricing and I am the gambler ;) So, out of interest, I just logged in on the HAL site using DH instead of me and he did not get any discount on his pricing. He does get it since he is sailing with me, of course. So, if you are doing quick checking you either want to log in as your DW or input her mariner number or, as Lady Arwen suggested input both. I am too lazy to put both numbers in when I am just checking pricing ;):')
IndyDenise Posted January 8, 2018 #37 Share Posted January 8, 2018 We received at least 35% off the lowest price for a NS. I can’t remember the exact percentage off. Then we received Explore 4.. and the free two night hotel stay in Barcelona. Our 12 day Mediterranean Cruise became a better deal than a 8 day Carnival Caribbean one. Georgie562 Posted January 8, 2018 #38 Share Posted January 8, 2018 (edited) This is something which has always been confusing to me so forgive me for trying to get some clarification. When I log in and see special mariner pricing, that is NOT the casino rate. Correct? If I am reading this correctly, the only way to see a casino rate is if I choose a cabin? This is correct. Just happened to me today this is what it seems like to me for 14 day cruise on the Maasdam leaving october 28, 2018 looks like the public price which is the view and verandah sale the fare is $2,599 when i go further into the reservation and log in with my mariners number, it gives me a lower price of $2,099 but then when I'm about to chose the cabin, it drops down to $1469 I did a courtesy hold because I might just end up booking and in the notes on the booking confirmation on page 2 it says casino discount I was in the Casino every single night on my past 22 day cruise on the Maasdam but I dont think I spent more than $600 in the casino Edited January 8, 2018 by Georgie562

Rare Lady Arwen Posted January 8, 2018 #41 Share Posted January 8, 2018 I just tried this and the public fare for a veranda now shows $5,739pp. Did you gamble slots or table games? We've always only played the slots. We rarely spend more than $300 per cruise but we do gamble every evening for at least 1-2 hours. We've been getting the casino rate for more than three years. We've saved from 30-40% off the published rates on our last 4 cruises (Canadian dollars).

I saw a 14 day on the 14th of Oct. I get a casino rate and saw about what you saw on the first round. It did not go lower when I picked out a cabin. I spend less that you in the casino both time and money, so it looks like you are being rewarded.

Stakeout Posted January 18, 2018 #44 Share Posted January 18, 2018 (edited) the Casinos on HAL ships are run by Carnival Corp no matter what name they'll use-- Club 21 etc.. it's still Carnival Corp subsidiary.. the staff does not work for HAL... they can be on a HAL ship this month or be on a Princess ship the next or any other Carnival owned cruise line.. we get the Casino rate..
