Is there a Cheese course during dinner in the MDR on the Infinity ? If so .... what Cheeses are served?

Thanks in advance .

On our last Infinity cruise (September 2017) we had SD and the Head Waiter brought us a cheese plate each evening before we even looked at the menu. Not sure why but a nice touch. Only cheese plate I've ever seen is on the dessert menu.

I don't think they offer cheese plates between courses to cleanse the palate in the MDR.

The cheese course normally comes after the main course. It can be served before dessert or as dessert, never to cleanse the palate. :halo:

In the MDR, Blu and Luminae the cheese offerings change from night to night.

Humm -- I am confused as to how my post implied to "bigbeergut" that cheese plates were offered between courses to cleanse the palate. I was just trying to state that the cheeses offered on the cheese plates are not identical each night.

I remember (years ago) when Celebrity use to offer the sorbet in the MDR before the main course to cleanse the palate. Also offering sorbet during sea days on the pool deck.

What you posted was perfectly clear. ;) I've never heard of cheese being offered to cleanse the palate.

Perfect: sorbet to cleanse the palate; cheese course to come before dessert (very French). I'm sure you could order whatever the cheese offering may be and then move on to dessert.

In Murano’s last year I just couldn’t manage a desert let alone a cheese course (should have skipped afternoon tea!). I expressed my disappointment to our waiter that I could not do justice to their cheese! When we returned to our cabin later they had sent me a beautiful selection to enjoy...

We collected a couple of ports and enjoyed late at night on the balcony!

Over the years we have found the MDR cheese plate, the room service cheese plate and the Oceanview selection a bit ‘hit and miss’....The more rubbery it looks the less flavour it seems to have!

This is the service that I experienced when I first started cruising in the '80s. The waiter brought out a cheese plate for no apparent reason and told us it was to cleanse the palate. I never thought much about it at the time and since the practice has effectively disappeared I never thought much about it since then. If that's not the purpose then so be it. I'm not sure I ever suggested that it was between every course or only between dinner and desert. If it's on the desert menu then I hope that helps the OP. Perhaps the OP can order the cheese plate and another desert if he/she wishes. I usually focus on the chocolate section of the desert menu.

If you want the cheese board after dinner, its worth mentioning it to your waiter when you order your main course. Then s/he can get it out of the fridge early and serve it a bit closer to room temperature. Otherwise the cheese is really cold and not as tasty.

MEATLOAFFAN probably has one of the best "food porn" threads... https://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2477899&highlight=cheese

GREAT pics...enough to make one hungry (including cheese plate pics):)

Not a problem. I always order two desserts. You can order the cheese plate that is on the dessert menu for an appetizer if you want. I did it a couple of times on our 2016 Equinox cruise.

Funny you mentioned the sorbet at the pool deck. I just was mentioning that to DH this afternoon. I can't remember the last time a pool butler came around offering the refreshing little sorbet cups or the chilled towels that they used to do regularly.

The last cruise that I remember sorbet being offered was on our 2005 Mercury cruise on the pool deck. By the time I was offered one I was able to drink it. :D I haven't seen it offered on any of our other Celebrity cruises after that. :(

We sailed on Mercury in 2006, but it was to Alaska and I doubt we saw it then, but do remember it on Infinity on a Panama Canal South America cruise in 2008. I also remember it after that on Summit, but don't remember if I've seen it since.

On the equinox this past October the pool butlers were bringing around sorbet..it was a nice treat on a hot day:cool:

So nice to hear. Thanks for posting. It's not a big thing, but a nice little touch we thought had gone by the wayside. Maybe we weren't at the pool when it was done on our last cruises.

We're doing a B2B cruise on the Equinox in March. I'll check it out. However Sorbet wasn't offered on our September 2017 Infinity cruise in the MDR or poolside.
