Is the current sale a good one?

I've never sailed on Royal Carribean before and am looking to book a cruise out of San Juan Feb 2019. Is the current sale a good one for that or is it better to wait?

TIA!

Usually when one sale ends, another starts. I'm not an expert but most of the time the prices stay very close from one sale to the next. Prices seem to rise and fall depending on how the ship is booking up rather than the sale itself in my opinion. We have been able to lower our booking price when the prices have dropped but sometimes the extra perks like On Board Credit can change. With the recent change in Refundable vs Non-Refundable deposits, I'm not sure how that affects asking for the newer, lower price when they drop.

San Juan cruises seem to be very nicely priced compared to other ports and have the best Caribbean itineraries (in our opinion). Of course you need to fly (unless you live in PR) but if you have to fly anyway, then it's not a big deal.

If you do book now, just watch the pricing closely up until final payment and ask for an adjustment if they go down.

Cheers

Book now. If the price goes down before final payment just call and you will get the lower price.

Not necessarily. They just did some kind of “savenow” sale with $200 off cruises from San Juan through December. My cruise is in November. The special price was for new bookings only. If I had waited, I could have saved $200.

Do you have a refundable deposit? If so, just cancel and re-book. (I think this is why they changed their policy on refundable deposits).

We always try to book while on board when possible as they generally have better perks and reduced and refundable deposits.

Even though it says new bookings only I have only seen them enforce that for the going, going gone sales which are usually well after final payment and people are looking to upgrade.

Look at what your airfare, your routing, and your travel time is going to cost before you book. Then weigh it all together and decide.

We wanted to book next summer out of San Juan. From Seattle, the prices were too high and travel time was too long and didn’t like possible connections. Not that either one by itself negated the cruise but all 3 put together??? Plus one of us has to reroute to STL to pick up granddaughter. We decided a different ship out of FLL.

I was wondering the same thing!

We have never sailed with RC before and are thinking of doing a sailing out of San Juan in March.

I just can’t decide if we should book today or wait a few days to see if the prices go down with the next sale.

Thanks!

The fake sales come and go constantly and the price rarely changes.

Price the last minute sailings for this March and see what the difference is. Usually, not always, the price will decrease after final payment but waiting to book airfare could be an issue with having to fly San Juan.

Depends. My son, wife and grandchild have a wonderful rate and kids go free. Cheapest I’ve seen for a balcony for three.

That's why I said "rarely". The KSF seems to be one of the few "sales" that many report saving significant money.

The real deals are the Kids Sail Free promotions where you can save a substantial amount of money for a third or fourth passenger. Right now they have KSF offers for certain sailings in 2018.

Bummer when my kids are all adult aged but yet teenagers 👎

My perception/understanding of RCI's pricing is that whatever the current "sale" is may very broadly influence the pricing on most of their itineraries. However, you have to look at a specific sailing to decide if it's a good price ("sale") or not (factors such as sail date, current occupancy rate, etc.).

I have been tracking the price for my upcoming Allure cruises daily since mid-December. Here is the price in USD for Dec 2nd, checked daily around 05:00 Eastern Time (intra-day price sometimes fluctuates), for 2 adults and 1 child in a 3V interior:

Generally, I have found that the price is near the lowest during a KSF promotion, but even then, the prices vary by quite a bit. I know my personal price history may not be particularly helpful for anyone, but perhaps it can give you some broad insight into how prices change from day-to-day.

In my opinion Royal Caribbean never has sales. They simply rework their marketing material frequently.
