So, while I agree, I prefer a smoke free ship. I don’t actually care that they stay in their place. Yes, it is civilized to smoke in a designated smoking area, but 50 years ago, people smoked literally everywhere, and somehow our species is still in existence 50 years later. It is shocking, with all of the tv shows showing all of us the dangers that somehow we all survived.

 

Smoking is dumb and those who do it are on average going to die sooner and poorer. That said, good lord people...

Let's not lose sight of the original subject in this thread. That being the callous disregard for others by a woman who chose to smoke in a public venue where smoking is prohibited and then showed a total lack of societal norms by grinding the butt out on the floor. Rather than being concerned with whether someone is laid back, lets focus on returning to a society where others are considered, not just oneself.

My question is, how smoky are the adjoining areas? We will be on Oasis, so I'm wondering if the smoke travels to the hallways near Izumi or the Ice Rink?

I have not found smoke to be a problem outside of casino area on deck 4. The only thing to consider is whether you want to walk through the casino to get from one end of the ship to the other given that ice rink and theatre entrance are on the same deck.

we were onboard for two weeks this month.Our experience was that, yes, you can smell the casino smoke in the hallway outside Izumi. You can also smell it in any aft elevator lobby and in the elevators. We were in a Junior Suite on deck 12, aft, starboard, and we could smell the stale cigarette smoke every time we used the elevators.

 

Others may have a different experience, I am only relating what our experience was.

Skirting the rules on a cruise could get a lot of people killed. I have been through a house fire and the thought of being in a fire on the ocean is pretty scary. We all know the risks on a cruise but someone who cares nothing of the welfare of others is pretty disconcerting.

Where did he even hint at implying that? He said the Promenade was not more prone to fire than the casino. And RCI does allow smoking in there. So where does someone smoking on the Promenade create this huge fire risk? If smoking on the Promenade is such a fire risk then it is just as much of a risk, if not more, in the casino.

 

The real issue here is not fire but the smoking itself discarding the filthy aftermath on the floor.

But no biggie, all species survived it. 3 mile island. No worries. No species went extinct. Concordia sinks. No biggie. The human race continues. Of course I jest but you get what I’m saying.

An uncountable number of animals died in the Exxon and BP accidents. But no species went extinct so according to the prior post’s logic we aren’t supposed to worry? That is absolutely ridiculous.

 

So what now, 200k die in auto accidents so we shouldnt worry about a fire hazard on a ship? You make zero sense and if it was possible to be negative in this metric you would have a high negative score.

I could point out that regulatory restriction without border control is pointless. So the "chicago gun ban" doesn't mean much until they put up city immigration gates. It's a hell of a lot easier to bring a gun from Indiana or even Oak Brook into Chicago than it is to bring them across an international border.

 

But instead of doing that, I'll just point out that you're arguing gun politics on a cruising message board. So basically, you need to wear a helmet for developmental reasons and forewarn those with whom you interact that you are slightly more mentally challenged and a handful of pond scum.
