Things you have asked the butler to do

From what I have read regarding tips, it seems to me that many people do not use their butlers as much as they can. Maybe that is because people do not know why to ask for? Let’s list some things you have asked (And received the sevice) of your butler! I’ll start. (Caveat - we tip our butler generously and usually get to know the butler as well. We do not treat the butler like a servant, just a person who is making our cruise more comfortable).

1. Meals in the suite

2. Special requests on snacks

3. Bring our wine bottles to the restaurants we have dinner plans at so they are the right temperature for the meal. (We once even had the waiter of the restaurant call the butler to bring down our champs).

4. Bring iron and ironing board to suite

5. Set up anniversary surprise for hubby

6. Get my bag from the naughty room (I packed a small fan which is apparently not allowed anymore).

7. Get my fan from Customer Service at the end of the cruise

8. Deal with difficult concierge for us - long story, but bad concierge, great butler who handled the issue without getting into “trouble” from his boss the concierge.

9. Refill water and soda in suite when is suites that include it.

10. Bring olives, mixers for the booze in the room.

I’d love to know what you all ask for too!

I would love to know this too! Last cruise when I went to tip our Butler he said but I hardly did anything to warrant a tip from you lol

We just don't need any of that. So seldom use the butler for anything. Not because we are hesitant, just don't want it. Quite happy doing for ourselves. In fact, prefer doing so. Probably many other suite guests feel the same. So, the butler can be used for as much or as little as individual guests desire.

I use my butler for pretty basic things. 2 foot massages per day, I have him wake up at 5am and reserve us 7 chairs by the pool. I have him remove our DSC for us. And I have him clean out my ashtray on the balcony.

We have a 21 day cruise coming up, except for plans to have breakfast delivered a few times and maybe an in suite dinner a couple of times instead of in the specialty dining, I can't imagine a lot of things I would use the butler for.

Probably not even for the snack delivery, on port days we will be gone and who knows where we will be on sea days, if in the cabin the buffet is a short walk and elevator ride away.

Bring up extra deck chairs

Bring deck blankets for glacier watching

Pick up our desserts from restaurants and deliver to our room whilst we go to the evening shows

Keep pitchers of ice water and ice tea in the fridge

Keep bowls of gummy bears and M&Ms full in our suite

PB&J sandwiches

Real potato chips

Evening snacks (in addition to afternoon snacks)

Keep fresh cartons of milk for our coffee

Asked our butler for a couple of meals delivered to the room. Have snacks delivered. Can’t actually think of anything else I’d want from the Butler.

I don’t ask for things just to use a Butler.

One think I saw another group do while at the Haven pool was to deliver a few pizzas and burgers while they sat by the pool.

One night I wanted some wings. Stopped by to get them myself but they would not give them to me unless we were going to wait for a seat and eat them there. Just called the butler and had them in my room.

Something I asked the first day were menus for all of the restaurants as we planned on staying in our after suite and have dinner outside while the land disappears. Didn't know what every place had so he brought them to our cabin and left them for the whole cruise

I have them tuck me in at night and read a bedtime story to me.;p

  • Bring popcorn for movie watching
  • Bring Chinese food and/or pizza for movie watching
  • Rearrange/remove furniture
  • Have clothes pressed
  • Bring daily coffee/breakfast to the cabin & set up and THEN wake me up at 8 am as he was leaving (this was awesome on a week when I had to work while cruising but spent many late nights in the casino!)
  • Escort me to the meet point for an excursion while I use my scooter (while he brings my walker), and then return the scooter to my cabin. And upon return, meet me at the end point of an excursion with my scooter so that I can drive back onto the ship.
  • Take dessert back to my cabin from dinner while I go to a show or casino
  • Help me unpack (hang up clothes, etc.)

I'm sure there is more that I can't remember. In fact, I can't think of anything I ever wanted or needed that the butler didn't make happen.

Considering that they will draw your bath this is almost believable.
Best story I heard from one of my Butlers is that there was a couple that called him everytime they wanted coffee. They would put the pods in and call him to push the start button.

I basically ask him not to bring snacks just extra water and in so many words please leave us alone. I still tip him/her $100-$200 depending on the cruise length. One time I did ask for a small cocktail reception in our room and tipped very well.
