schazzy Posted April 19, 2018 #2 Share Posted April 19, 2018 It's just grill items like hamburgers, hot dogs, chicken and some cold stuff like salads and sweets. We didn't partake do to being a bit seasick from the rock n roll boat that took us to our snorkeling, and the amount of flies buzzing around didn't help. Karlou Posted April 19, 2018 #4 Share Posted April 19, 2018 It’s fine! A lot easier than taking the tender back to the ship. Sent from my iPad using Forums

Sent from my iPad using Forums And, unless you don't plan on returning to the island after taking the tender back to the ship to have lunch, why give up a good portion of your day just to avoid a few bugs? Really, the bugs aren't that bad. No worse than what you'd have at most any outdoor BBQ back at home (maybe less).

nycruise1 Posted April 19, 2018 #9 Share Posted April 19, 2018 The bbq chicken is really good. Kind of reminds me of jerk chicken. Not worth the bother of going back. We came over on the first tender and stayed until well into the afternoon. The bbq lets you stay and enjoy the day without getting hungry.
brookeq Posted April 19, 2018 #10 Share Posted April 19, 2018 Food on the ship is better, but I wouldn't head back to the boat for lunch. Especially since you have to tender. There was plenty of things to choose from. The sides weren't too bad. And there is a lot of fruit to choose from too. I didn't notice an crazy amount of bugs. teknoge3k Posted April 19, 2018 #12 Share Posted April 19, 2018 Bugs = protein. Plus add a little BBQ sauce to them and it's not too bad. ;)
cb at sea Posted April 19, 2018 #13 Share Posted April 19, 2018 All of the food is brought from the ship, so.....

Half Moon Cay is one of my favourite islands. I wouldn’t waste time going back and forth on the tender. The food is just fine! BEEZALAR Posted April 19, 2018 #15 Share Posted April 19, 2018 Why would anyone want to leave the island even for a minute? They have to drag me off! Sent from my iPad using Forums

StolidCruiser Posted April 19, 2018 #17 Share Posted April 19, 2018 Just wondering You should return to the ship for food.
Purvis1231 Posted April 19, 2018 #18 Share Posted April 19, 2018 The BBQ was not great but certainly adequate. Half Moon Cay is such a great place there is no need to leave earlier just to eat.
jonboy9756 Posted April 20, 2018 #19 Share Posted April 20, 2018 Half Moon Cay is one of the most beautiful beaches on Earth. Why would you not want to spend every possible minute there? The buffet is fine, like it or not but I would not go back to the ship for any reason until I had to.
salty dingo Posted April 20, 2018 #20 Share Posted April 20, 2018 I can't imagine leaving that beautiful island just to grab a burger or a burrito. You can get that any time, and there is precious little chance to enjoy that beautiful beach.
Rare Jamman54 Posted April 20, 2018 #21 Share Posted April 20, 2018 Spend all your time on the island. The food comes from the ship and is prepared on the island.
idraconis Posted April 20, 2018 #22 Share Posted April 20, 2018 I found the food pretty good. The beach is beautiful. I've been to 20 island in the Caribbean and they all have bugs and other critters.
AmBear Posted April 20, 2018 #23 Share Posted April 20, 2018 Just wondering Currently on the Glory, we were at half moon cay Sunday, and the buffet was very good, if you're a 'simple' eater, freshly made burgers, hot dogs, chicken, with a bunch of side hot/cold dishes, along with a lot of fruit choices, and deserts. Towel Critter Posted April 20, 2018 #24 Share Posted April 20, 2018 My suggestion is just go look at what is available. If it looks good "eat it." If you find it unappealing, return to the ship for lunch. Of course, tendering back to the ship and then back to the island will take out a significant chunk of time from your day, so you should keep that in mind. Personally, I enjoy the "cookout" style meal. I'm not a fan of chicken, but I do enjoy the jerk chicken they usually have.
Ehpride Posted April 20, 2018 #25 Share Posted April 20, 2018 It's barbecue outside on a gorgeous beach. Personally, I wouldn't waste time tendering back to the ship for anything else.
