Littlegoo75 Posted June 8, 2018 #1 Share Posted June 8, 2018 We leave tomorrow, and I don't have time to run around after work today to go Poncho shopping. I would assume they sell them on board, but thought I would check. All of our destinations are calling for a chance of rain next week. Goody. CECE1112 Posted June 8, 2018 #2 Share Posted June 8, 2018 Academy has some for 99 cents by their camping stuff. Small enough package to fit in a purse or backpack if needed.
Littlegoo75 Posted June 8, 2018 Author #3 Share Posted June 8, 2018 I was thinking Academy would, but I just don't know if I have time to run out there tonight after work. I should have thought about this last week.
Littlegoo75 Posted June 8, 2018 Author #4 Share Posted June 8, 2018 Although, according to Murphy's Law, if I do run to Academy and buy some, it won't rain. If I wait, then it will rain and the ship will not sell them onboard.

Doggielover68 Posted June 8, 2018 #6 Share Posted June 8, 2018 I have seen them for sale near the gangway on rainy days, but keep in mind there is almost always a chance of rain in the Caribbean. It's usually short lived. Sent from my iPad using Forums
Sauer-kraut Posted June 8, 2018 #7 Share Posted June 8, 2018 As above. Your chance of rain might last a few minutes and then be done. I wouldn't stress the rain poncho, it will be HOT there....unless you are in Alaska.... who wants to wrap up in a plastic bag in hot humid conditions.
sammee Posted June 8, 2018 #8 Share Posted June 8, 2018 Walmart has them for $3 too. We packed a couple a few weeks ago. They pack small, and since we didn't need them, we have them for next cruise.
Rare sparks1093 Posted June 8, 2018 #9 Share Posted June 8, 2018 It was raining when we left the ship at one of our ports and they were selling ponchos at the gangway for $2. I believe they also sell them in the gift shop (and those might be sturdier). The $2 one did the job.
Littlegoo75 Posted June 8, 2018 Author #10 Share Posted June 8, 2018 Thanks for the quick responses all! We might just wing it....we packed them for our last DisneyWorld trip, and we just preferred getting rained on then letting the sun dry us off. I hate the feeling of wearing a poncho and hate looking like a dork. All of our excursions involve getting wet anyway. Plus, we won't melt. teknoge3k Posted June 8, 2018 #12 Share Posted June 8, 2018 Yes, if it's raining they have them for sale right as you debark the ship in ports. They're blue and they are $3 a piece.

CruiseHealing Posted June 8, 2018 #16 Share Posted June 8, 2018 This is on our must to pack list. DW hates getting wet. For me, I have a 100% dry guarantee. That means every time I am wet, I seem to get dry. So I don't worry about the rain!
cb at sea Posted June 8, 2018 #17 Share Posted June 8, 2018 If it's raining, I simply don't go out in it! Not a fan of getting rained on, or getting splashed. Really, tho, it depends where you're going...the Caribbean ALWAYS says rain is likely, because it is....it's the way weather works. Alaska....could be a chilly rain, and that's the kind I don't go out in!
mz-s Posted June 8, 2018 #18 Share Posted June 8, 2018 :p $1 @ dollar tree. Exactly. I have one in all my suitcases, they've been in there since our first cruise and never needed them - but I have them if I do!
BoDidly Posted June 9, 2018 #19 Share Posted June 9, 2018 They use to give those ponchos away at guest services if it was raining at the port of call. Last time I tried to get one was on the Paradise last year. I was informed to see the guy at the bar across from Guest Services. He wanted six dollars for one of them . And he wanted cash only no cards of any kind.. Luckily I had a few of the old ones still in my luggage.
Moviela Posted June 9, 2018 #20 Share Posted June 9, 2018 Ask the steward for a trash bag. Goes fine with rain, and you can dump it anywhere.
