Cozmic206 Posted June 10, 2018 #1 Share Posted June 10, 2018 My bag is pretty heavy, just curious how strict NCL is with their 50lb weight limit?
zqvol Posted June 10, 2018 #2 Share Posted June 10, 2018 THey don't weigh them, and there is no limit on the number you can bring. Unless you are flying split your stuff into two bags if you are worried about weight.
Motegi Posted June 10, 2018 #3 Share Posted June 10, 2018 Never had an issue. Agree with the above reply. If you are driving to port just bring multiple bags.
GA Dave Posted June 10, 2018 #4 Share Posted June 10, 2018 My wife has already asked this, and I told her the limit is how much I can carry, not how much the ship can. :)

Markanddonna Posted June 10, 2018 #6 Share Posted June 10, 2018 You need to be concerned about the airlines' limits. We never had a problem with the cruise lines.

newmexicoNita Posted June 10, 2018 #8 Share Posted June 10, 2018 My bag is pretty heavy, just curious how strict NCL is with their 50lb weight limit? never heard of them enforcing the limit. Of course if you are flying to port the airlines, as we all know do enforce weight limits.
MJSailors Posted June 10, 2018 #9 Share Posted June 10, 2018 Where did you get the information that NCL had a 50lb. weight limit ? No weight limits on a cruise ship. Airlines do keep to the 50 lb limit per bag and will charge for overweight. Ie- Southwest charges $75 dollars for an overweight bag. Plan accordingly. Know before you go !:D
cruisingpeople Posted June 10, 2018 #10 Share Posted June 10, 2018 Where did you get the information that NCL had a 50lb. weight limit ?No weight limits on a cruise ship. I thought I had seen something about this, so I went back and checked. This information comes from the NCL.com FAQ section. How many suitcases can I bring? Each person is allowed up to two pieces of personal luggage on board, with each piece weighing a maximum of 50 pounds. However, if passengers are traveling by air, they need to check with the airline for specific restrictions.

Why people need to bring more than 40 lbs of clothes on a cruise is always a mind bender for me, especially on Norwegian because there is no need for fancy clothes. Barb Nahoumi Posted June 10, 2018 #12 Share Posted June 10, 2018 I found that I never needed the extra pairs of shoes that I brought, so I reduced them to 3 or 4. 1 pr of sneaks, 2prs of sandals, and 1 pr of dressy. We make use of the platinum free laundry, so that reduces some clothing.

Some people maybe traveling either before and after the cruise. I did last year, I was away for 7 weeks from cold to hot weather so had to pack accordingly. Same for me this year travelling before in Barcelona and then heading to see friends after, having to pack for all weathers isn’t easy IMHO. casofilia Posted June 10, 2018 #15 Share Posted June 10, 2018 Just be careful, if your bag is well over the 50lb limit it might be "dropped accidentally"!!!

Maybe one likes heavy clothes? Maybe one will be cruising Alaska with planned excursions that require heavy clothes. Why people make such judgemental comments to anything that is different from what they would do, is a mind bender to me.

don't-use-real-name Posted June 11, 2018 #18 Share Posted June 11, 2018 Steamer trunks are out of vogue ! If your luggage has WHEELS all that much the better for all concerned. Even better when two pieces can be stacked together and pulled as one unit. Rule of Thumb - if when grabbing your luggage by its handle the handle comes off your luggage is too heavy ! If the empty luggage weighs more than the contents - you have a problem ! Leave the kitchen sink at home and you will be just fine !
Rare broberts Posted June 11, 2018 #19 Share Posted June 11, 2018 50 lb limit is for the protection of baggage handlers. Be considerate, use multiple suitcases rather than overpacking one.
