TeeRick Posted June 19, 2018 #28 Share Posted June 19, 2018 I know this is a very dumb question. but what are the parameters of the Michaels Club? I thought I could find it, but the answer is elusive. Not exactly sure what info you are looking for with your question. MC is for all suite guests and Zenith CC members. It has coffee/teas, soft drinks and a good selection of complimentary beer, wine and mixed drinks all day and night when open. The MC concierge will help you with just about anything that Guest Relations can do, and also arrange shore excursions. Also you can get escorted priority tenders and escorted disembarkation at the end of the cruise.

peggy1 Posted June 24, 2018 #31 Share Posted June 24, 2018 We used to love Michaels Pub when it was open to everyone and they had a cabaret singer/pianist. It was so much fun. Now you pass by and its wasted space with hardly anyone in there.

bigbenboys Posted June 24, 2018 #33 Share Posted June 24, 2018 Wups! Yes, a typo initiated by an addled brain due to my many years of chronological advancement. ZENITH, is indeed what I meant. I think the Elite count was around 1500 or so.... We met 2 Zenith couples in MC in March 2018. We were on a 14 night cruise in Asia on Millie. One couple were doing a b2b2b2b ending in Vancouver, BC. One of the couples were from Canada and the other couple were from San Francisco. We enjoyed talk to them. The busiest evening in MC is when suite guest can get their photo taking with the captain and or officers. The Elite evening happy hour was in the Cosmos Lounge. It was not over crowded. Certainly not wasted space on the sailings we've been on....packed before dinner every night and on evenings with entertainment you couldn't find a seat.... Rare C-Dragons Posted June 24, 2018 #40 Share Posted June 24, 2018 Celebrity doesn't know how to run and make Michael's Club Special. They should have all the top shelf liquors served in MC. Oh X knows quite well how to run MC, and making a profit is more important than making it special. They leave it up to the individual bar managers on each ship whose bonuses are tied to inventory and consumption by their guests. Each bar manager has a budget for the bars they are responsible for and if too much of the top shelf liquors are consumed the results can eat into their profit, so bartenders are instructed to discourage and even limit the amount of top shelf liquors consumed by guests. This came to light on our last cruise, where a bartender ended up being reported by a guest who became upset when told that MC was out of their preferred top shelf liquor (it wasn’t true). We were in MC at the time the bar manager questioned the bartender about the incident (totally inappropriate to do this in front of all of us at the bar!) The bartender was visibly upset, had a few things to say after the boss left and ended up quitting and leaving the ship after the following cruise. We had previously witnessed a similar situation on another X ship a couple of years ago. Unfortunately the staff in MC are caught between a rock and a hard place: follow the instructions of their bosses, or do the best job they can to make sure the guests in MC are happy and have the best experience possible. Unfortunately these two ideas are not always mutually compatible.

Straughn Posted June 24, 2018 #42 Share Posted June 24, 2018 Interesting thread. I have experienced Michael’s on three different ships. I have never seen or heard the bartender tell someone no. On a Silhouette cruise, my friend asked, late in the evening, for a Limoncello. The bartender went out to the Ensemble lounge and got one. The next night, he had a bottle. I had a preferred wine- within the premium package range, not a super pricey one, available at many ship’s bars and restaurants. The first night, not available. The next night, when I sat down, he said I have your wine.

The next night, when I sat down, he said I have your wine. On our first visit to Michael's after it was restricted to Suite guests we experienced the bar tender quiet simply saying to anyone who wanted anything not in the bar that they didn't stock it in Michael's. It was the last cruise on her contract and we have not seen her back in the many cruises since then. We also had an issue with someone in the bar who would not go and get a drink from the Ensemble bar. I went out and got it myself and showed him the drink he couldn't be bothered getting. Didn't happen again. To counter that we arrived on the Silhouette in March and my wife asked for a Bacardi. The bartender (Cranson) told my wife that she drank Bacardi Lemon the last time we were on board, which was the previous March and immediately went outside to get the bottle for us. It all comes down to the bartender and whether he is having a good day. Some of them forget that the most important person is the one with no drink in front of them rather than the person they are passing the time of day with. tomcruiser1234 Posted June 25, 2018 #46 Share Posted June 25, 2018 We think MC has got a little more interesting now. More people to meet. You can really make it a fun place if you take the opportunity to meet other people. Throughout the cruise as more people continue to frequent it tends to be a meeting place. Same is true at any of the bars but with so many different people at other bars, it is not as easy to always meet with same people. For the most part we were able to get any drink we wanted. I use MC as a great coffee house experience. Accept it serves booze. Great thing is...pace your yourself and take in the moment on a long Transatlantic cruise...lol
flyingv4me Posted June 25, 2018 #47 Share Posted June 25, 2018 My wife and I really enjoy Michael's Club. On our last cruise I asked for an Anchor Steam beer. Rosie didn't have it but got it from the Gastrobar, where many of these beers were kept. She told me that she talked to them and got a case for my consumption. By the end of the cruise there were several others in Michael's that were enjoying the Anchor Steams. LOL! Rosie was great!
atxlady Posted June 26, 2018 #48 Share Posted June 26, 2018 We were on the Summit in early April. We loved the MC, we usually went in at different times. It was never very busy and the bartender (Alexandra) was just wonderful. We asked for a Mudslide and she said it would be a few minutes as she had to go the to Casino bar. After that she offered to make them herself. She told us that she didn't have a blender to do drinks. She made us a Mudslide with all the ingredients in shaker glasses. They were awesome!!! Much better that than the blended ones. We started calling them the "Alex special" and when we walked in she would ask if we wanted one.
eileenover Posted June 26, 2018 #49 Share Posted June 26, 2018 And on the Connie, doing the UAE to India and back a couple of years ago, the barman kindly helped two of us to enjoy a beer tasting event.
