miched Posted July 26, 2018 #51 Share Posted July 26, 2018 Comfortable seating. I don’t know who it is that purchases the seatig but I have never been able to find any that are comfortable. Happy cruising 🌊🚢🇺🇸🌅
OCruisers Posted July 27, 2018 #52 Share Posted July 27, 2018 I would have 2 bedroom suites with equal sized bedrooms & baths. That way 2 couples could share a suite without 1 couple getting the "bad" room. (y) Love that suggestion!

islandchick Posted July 27, 2018 #56 Share Posted July 27, 2018 I would make all toilets including the cabin bathrooms into pay toilets.....in order to maximize revenue by selling packages (buy by the day, the cruise, or by the flush). With a view to increasing cabin and food revenue.....in concert with aqua class that gives you included bottled water the first day...and concierge class that offers a dedicated concierge, I would add food class cabins that included meals (now that I think of it, I guess we could have toilet class cabins as well...TBD by the accountants. If you aren't in one of those "modern luxury" cabins, then you will be required to take "go cheap" fares which are more flexible "pay as you go" dining package which will include an automat type facility, another dining area with 108 vending machines and a self service machine in the MDR where you can look at the menu and order your meal..paying on the spot with cash or credit card and handing the ticket to your waiter. Note: Go cheap fares will not be combinable with the stockholder benefit, just like today's good/better/best fares. BTW, I disagree with the promenade suggestion because that would be non revenue producing space. All public seating will be on timed benches... And then I'd add a "pick your own" space....strawberries, peaches, blueberries......which monetizes the space now used for lawns.....of course there will be a charge to pick. I have to give credit where credit is due....my unnmaed source within Celebrity told me confidentially that all of the above were considered when designing the edge class. Just stumbled upon this thread. Too funny!!!!
Nebr.cruiser Posted July 27, 2018 #57 Share Posted July 27, 2018 You’re absolutely right. I’ve often thought that designers choose seating to fit their visual aesthetic, without giving comfort or ergonomics a thought. Yes, the seating may look cool but, especially on Celebrity, are almost unusable--unless maybe you are six foot four and have legs like a giraffe. John182 Posted July 27, 2018 #58 Share Posted July 27, 2018 I spent my former life flying on and off those decks, and I DO NOT want one even near me again (I know, All Caps is yelling.......I’m yelling). Den Understandable. :)You have my deepest respect btw. Just for you I will swap to heli flying..... now how do I get permission to land on the ships?:)
cruisefam38 Posted July 27, 2018 #59 Share Posted July 27, 2018 An improved 21st Century cruise ship would have a winch to haul aboard the extra wenches, and a dedicated swan boat to bring aboard the swains. To maximize caloric intake and retention, all hallways on specified decks will be optimized by EZ PASS mechanized people movers, and staircases and stairways will be replaced by EZ PASS escalators and chairlifts. (for non US cruisers, EZ PASS is an electronic highway toll collection system. If cruise lines can bid out casino concessions, why not people moving operations?) Coupled with strategically placed vending machines in hallways and accessed via keycard/medallion, food and drinks can be offered without greatly increasing staffing. Another concession that could generate added revenue is to eliminate all live music, and expand the Silent Disco concept. To whit, Pandora or Spotify can provide tens of thousands of songs accessed through headphones. This further isolates all passengers one from another, decreasing conversations and public interactions, and increasing the quiet spaces on all ships. cruisefam38 Posted July 27, 2018 #60 Share Posted July 27, 2018 I like the idea of maximizing the helipad usage. If Lear, or a competitor, could get into VTOL aircraft, then the current helipad area could be retained, and be used for generating additional revenue from the Suite Set. Luxury cruise lines have less deck space, therefore the larger cruise ships and their capacious landing zones would then become more attractive to the wealthy lacking private yachts. cruisefam38 Posted July 27, 2018 #61 Share Posted July 27, 2018 PS - I would also like to thank Denny01 for his service. A full, wrap-around non-obstructed Promenade deck without toll booths would be a welcome feature.

I’ve often thought that designers choose seating to fit their visual aesthetic, without giving comfort or ergonomics a thought. All the furniture seems to be chosen that way. Hydrokitty Posted July 27, 2018 #72 Share Posted July 27, 2018 I get the point. This could be a deterrent to chair hogs....after someone has left their book and towel unattended on a prime chaise lounge for 30 minutes, the little spiky things pop up impaling their belongings to the chair with a sign that says "CHAIR HOG"....to retrieve their belongings they must see a pool steward in order to release the spikes.....there could be fines involved to defray the cost of installation. Rare Presto2 Posted July 27, 2018 #73 Share Posted July 27, 2018 Something like the Solarium adults only on Celebrity but with no roof so that we can enjoy the sun. Or a 'pay as you go' retreat as on Princess but with more are areas where you can sit outside and enjoy the sun and not be in the shade There is a theme here for me ;;-)
