Sure it is. I could live on a cruise ship for a fraction of my living expenses currently.
Boy, I couldnt. Currently around 3 grand a month without cruise budget

When i retire will have to move to where you live John :) . Just our utility bills are about $800 month. For my wife and I, it would definitelybe worth cruising instead of staying at home.

On Allure now with 600+ D and DP. The lounge crowds have been large at 5pm but it dies down after 6pm. It’s currently day 4 at 7:30 and the lounge is half full.
Is there overflow lounge at blaze? Is royal using an overflow lounge at all? Thanks

Our gas central heating is a lot cheaper than your air conditioning.

You do not think the fact that most high tier members seem not to spend too many dollars onboard is a concern to Royal?

Do you know for a fact that upper tier members do not spend too many $. Has RCL ever expressed such. They are feted and celebrated at certain events.

We are D+ and spend money to go into Speciality restaurants most nights plus spend money in the shops and buy drinks outside of cocktail hour.

Airlines are required to account for outstanding frequent flyer miles on their balance sheets. They usually report the liability based on the marginal cost of free travel that those points can purchase.

I wonder if Royal reports the liability associated with C&A points on their balance sheet? Somehow I doubt it because in order to take advantage of the C&A program you need to book a cruise which means revenue to the cruise line, not a liability. That is why Royal will never make your C&A level expire. They may reduce the value of benefits but the program itself brings in much more revenue than it costs them.

Not the same. Airlines/Hotels point are liabilities because these point can be converted in the future towards free airfare, upgrades, etc. Whereas, the tier points/nights earned on cruises cannot be exchanged for anything. It is simply a recognition of benefits to a Pax when he/she cruises. Therefore, any add'l expenses associated to the benefits, eg; free drinks, balcony discounts, free internet, etc. are current to match the dates of a cruise taken. No future liability.

Yes, my point exactly! Airline/Hotel programs are very different than cruise loyalty programs.

Lots of shorts in the DL. I was once told pants were required for cocktail hours. Enjoy that Allure DL, likely to disappear at next drydock.

I am Diamond Plus and every cruise get at least a 5 night dining package and the alcohol package as well. I also spend money in the casino.

I also book balcony cabins as a minimum. I'd be glad if they gave us benefits based on money spent. I know there are many who spend a lot more on suites etc. but they do get some extras that we don't when sailing in a standard balcony.

I don't spend much, if any, time in the Diamond Lounge as it seems to be very crowded on Allure in particular and it appears that some park themselves at 3:30 to be there in time for Happy Hour and stay the entire time. I've come in to ask a question of the Concierge and saw people there at the 3:30 time frame and I've gone in much later and the same people are still there.

To each his own, I guess.

You would benefit from awarding status points based on $ spent with Royal.

1 point inside cabin.

2 points window cabin.

3 points balcony cabin.

4 points JS.

5 points GS and above.

This would be a fair way to judge both loyalty and cash spent on cabins.

I would LOVE that.

I would be Diamond now, and almost D+

There is no place for bad behaviour anywhere.

I have read posts on here of unruly Suite guests and their children in the CL.

Personally I prefer the DL.

We read about horrible behavior from Pinnacle members a few months ago. Reading some of their comments and about their meltdown was quite entertaining.

Not at all for ships that do have not accessible full suites.

I just don't see any reason to give an additional point for an accessible cabin. Makes no sense whatsoever.

How about they charge the GS price and throw the suite perks in. [emoji6]

It makes no sense to you because you are not restricted in your choice of cabin. The only restriction for you is the price/availability of the cabin.

Your reason makes perfect sense on the 4 ships that have accessible full suites. The major of the ships do not have accessible full suites.

Your suggestion of charging GS prices for an accessible JS is an interesting idea. I for one would pay the GS price, for the suite perks, but I wonder would other suite guests and Pinnacle members share your view when they can not get seats in the SL or the reservation time they want in CK?

Don't forget to factor in the fact that ships only have 2 accessible JS cabins. At full capacity these 2 cabins combined hold 6 - 10 passengers, depending on the class of ship. So would it make sense to give those 10 passengers an extra point or would having an extra 10 people in the SL and CK make better sense?

Obviously this discussion is totally hypothetical but I am interested in your response and any other comment from other CC members. :)

When it comes to wheelchair users especially since we had Pauline's mam and her wheelchair on 6 cruises with us my utmost respect goes to everyone.

However, none to the extent that some have indicated. The DL on the 11th deck on Allure is small in relationship to the Anthem's and if you want to see full sail on this ship. The Music Hall is the overflow and sometimes no seats available in either venue.
