That’s a lot more than many people spend. You should favor pts based on $ spent. Can’t get any fairer than that.

When i retire will have to move to where you live John :) . Just our utility bills are about $800 month. For my wife and I, it would definitelybe worth cruising instead of staying at home.

Off topic, but our power and water runs about $850 a month. We are pretty careful with our power, making sure lights are turned off and keeping the a/c at around 79 (much higher than that and we get mold issues). We don't pay trash (included in the HOA) and we don't have cable but cell phones and internet add another $300 a month.

The joys of living on a small island...

Lots of shorts in the DL. I was once told pants were required for cocktail hours. Enjoy that Allure DL, likely to disappear at next drydock.

We sailed the Allure 7-22-18. The Concierges told us that shorts were now permitted in the Suite Lounge every evening.

When it comes to wheelchair users especially since we had Pauline's mam and her wheelchair on 6 cruises with us my utmost respect goes to everyone.
I respect wheel chair users, I just dont agree they should get another point in this ridiculous new scheme of yours.

Electric bill is $450 for about an 1100 kwh, water/sewage for 8000 gallons $225 and cable with internet $175. No home phone but our cellular service is about $175 a month. We have solar water heater so no electricity is being used for hot water.

Electricity, water, cable/internet and cellular bill takes us to about $1000 monthly. The price we pay for living on an island.

Anyone who is unfortunate enough to genuinely need accessibility cabins deserve extra IMO.

WHY?

I can see if a higher level cabin is not available as accessible, but just because someone is disabled? Nope.

IOW, if there are no GS accessible at all, then a Jr Suite Accessible, could be booked with GS perks (at a higher price, but maybe not full GS price) and get the GS points.

HOLY C***!!!

My electric runs about $130 per month. My cable (TV/internet/phone) is $180. My water is free (well). Trash is $25 per month.

Oil can run a bit in the winter, but not more than $200 or so per month for the coldest month.

It makes no sense to you because you are not restricted in your choice of cabin. The only restriction for you is the price/availability of the cabin.

Your reason makes perfect sense on the 4 ships that have accessible full suites. The major of the ships do not have accessible full suites.

Your suggestion of charging GS prices for an accessible JS is an interesting idea. I for one would pay the GS price, for the suite perks, but I wonder would other suite guests and Pinnacle members share your view when they can not get seats in the SL or the reservation time they want in CK?

Don't forget to factor in the fact that ships only have 2 accessible JS cabins. At full capacity these 2 cabins combined hold 6 - 10 passengers, depending on the class of ship. So would it make sense to give those 10 passengers an extra point or would having an extra 10 people in the SL and CK make better sense?

Obviously this discussion is totally hypothetical but I am interested in your response and any other comment from other CC members. :)

I spent 10 days in a scooter. Luckily we had the RS, so the double doors worked nicely.

But that's beside the point. It was just a joke to go with a ridiculous premise.

FWIW, Oasis ships have accesible full suites is my understanding.

We're D+ and we always do at least one specialty restaurant per cruise, purchase items in the shop, go to the casino occasionally, book one or two excursions through the ship and buy a couple of drinks during the day. But, I don't think it should be based on $ spent. People already complain about how the status is based on what people can afford (suite, how often they cruise, etc.) We can speculate all we want and want what we do, but if there are changes coming, RCI has already determined them and studied what will increase their bottom line, just as businesses should do if they want to stay in business.

On ships with SL/CK, no Full Suites offed accessible cabins? I’m guessing it has more to do with the bathroom configuration and door size?

Of course this would result in some unneeded wheelchairs showing up just to get the points. Perhaps some of them would even have comfort animals.

Of course it would. You don't have to prove anything to rent a wheelchair and there are enough people who will do anything to get something for "free" such as more points.

But, this will never happen as long as someone doesn't have to prove their need and that's against the law (ADA).

Sure. Stockholder.

We generally sail in a GS. However, generally speaking a balcony cabin is significantly more than an inside. Why shouldn’t those people booking a more revenue generating cabin receive more loyalty recognition.

Many loyal cruisers don’t generally take Royal excursions, pass on Speciality Dining, seldom play in the Casino, Pass on Drink Package, don’t shop much onboard, purchase Wi-Fi, take paid for Ship and Galley Tours, participate in fee based Wine/Beer/Alcohol tasting, Sushi classes, Park West (I’m sure I missed something).

Why shouldn’t points be awarded on all $ spent with Royal?

As a Pinnacle you are okay.

For everyone else it affects them in different ways.

I'm happy the way things are but when I engage in a thread I give it a lot of thought and try to suggest answers that would benefit most people.

Have a Brown Ale for me and a hug for Bella.

Regards Graham.

Thanks for the update. In recent past, people have reported being asked to leave the DL/CL for wearing shorts. I know the SL seems a bit more relaxed (I’ve seen swimwear and wet towels in the SL). I don’t think Suite Guests have a big issue with a more relaxed dress code in the SL.

I think that’s a good idea. Pay Full Suite prices for JS accessible cabins to enjoy full Suite perks. This would probably be limited to some degree as the SL/CK is a fixed size.

We get free healthcare too in the UK.

I thought our bills were high but these prices are an eye opener.

Funny, I was simply thinking of land line tele, electricity/gas, water/sewer & garbage as standard utilities. Did not even think of cable/land line/internet and wireless telephone as a utility. I was wrong. If I include all of the mentioned utilities in my case it comes to somewhere in the $600 per month.

I also, must add as an utility $150 per month in gas for my 2 cars.
