RoyalUP? (Bid for stateroom upgrade)

We booked a sailing for May 21, 2022 just this past Saturday.  It was a bit of a last minute decision via a casino offer.  It is already past final payment date.  We've yet to get an email offering Royal Up, and I've also checked the website and I get the generic message about having no errors and it being within 30 days of the sailing.  I'm not bent out of shape either way, but does anyone have any thoughts as to whether Royal UP will be an option for us on this sailing?

Talk about timing, about 5 minutes after posting this I re-checked the website and Royal Up is now an option on this sailing.  Now to make an offer...

So excited! We got our upgrade! We moved from a JS to a GS on Allure for our cruise on May 8th!

Congrats!  We did the same, winning our first ever RU bid and going from JS to GS on Allure last Aug - you're going to love it!

You  should be able to transfer your cruise to RCCL from Costco. Then you would be able to call RCCL for anything you need, AND participate in the RoyalUp program. Just a thought….Good luck!

Actually I did ask our RCCL vacation planner about that for our sailing last month, on behalf of our friends who booked thru Costco - but she said they can't transfer...

Must be a Costco agreement. Sorry….

A couple business days after a last minute booking seem fairly common.  Happy bidding.

I think Costco would have to agree to give up the booking (and that probably means giving up the commission).

Bummer!  I didn't realize that when I booked two cabins for summer cruises.  BTW I was on hold with CostcoTravel for over 4 1/2 hours to get a price reduction last week!  Will rethink booking with Costco in the future!

Yes - you would need to call them and wait a few hours to get through just to request them to give up the booking.  They used to be great, wait times less than 15 minutes.  Now if you are lucky enough to call right when they open the phone lines, you might only have to wait an hour.

Has anyone seen any Royal Up offers for the May 13th sailing on Ovation of the Seas?  They cancelled "The Key" last week - so I am crossing fingers for an upgrade.  Thanks!

Have you tried to sign in on the RoyalUp webpage?  Here is the link in case you need it.

Is it correct to assume that some cruises will not offer RoyalUp, especially if all the highest category cabins are already booked?  We are at 29 days, but when I try to go in, I continue to get the message that I need to be within 30 days, and enter correct info.

I always have to enter the info. twice. It comes up on the second try.

That happens on my phone.  It goes through first time on desktop,

Some people’s reservations are not offered RoyalUp.  As recently mentioned, a few travel agencies do not participate, the big one is C****o.  A few people report not getting offers a never know the reason.

If there are two surnames on the reservation, try the other name.  Try clearing your cache, or try a different browser, or even try a different device.  RoyalUp generally works better on my desktop, but I do quick checks on my phone anyway.  I hope one of those helps.

Some have mentioned getting an email from RC, stating that RoyalUp is now open for their cruise.  If no such email arrives, could this be a sign, as well?

I never recived an email for my 5/15 Harmony cruise. I was able to bid 90 days out.

Sailing out of Barcelona June 2. Put a bid in for balcony (now in OV) for $105 pp, just $5 over minimum.  Did the bid over 1 month ago. Yesterday,  I had to cancel a shore excursion with private company and rebooked the excursion on Royal. An hour later, my Royal Up bid came through. Very happy and very surprised.  29 days to go, and all balconies are sold out- I checked to see what the price WOULD BE. Think it had something to do with booking the excursion?

Congratulations on the Upgrade; have a wonderful cruise.  I think your shore excursion purchase is very likely a coincidence.

I just found another wrinkle, after still being unable to bid.  The Q&A page says one must agree to receiving promotional emails from RC, in order to be eligible to bid.  We have always received emails, although not so many recently.  Perhaps I overlooked that when I did my checkin?  If so, can I alter that?

Why would it expire if you didn't win another?
