I do like my premium wines, and really missed being able to visit Cellar Masters. For me, it is a major miss that premium wines are only available in restaurants on Edge.

That is an interesting observation.  No bar to go to that serves nice wines?  That does seem to be a major miss but something that Celebrity could correct easily if they are monitoring this thread.

We were in Suite 9205.  We only ate in Luminae the first night. Very limited menu and we were told they did not have my husband's choice of wine.  For the remaining two nights we ate in Normandie and lo and behold, they carried my husband's wine.  Suite guests can eat anywhere.

That seems unusual compared to other ships.  Luminae usually is very accommodating and will retrieve whatever wine or drink that you desire.  In this case they had the wine in Normandie so it was stocked on the ship.  It sounds like growing pains with the service.  Again something that could be easily corrected hopefully.  Did you relate this story back to the Luminae Maitre' D once you found the wine in Normandie?

No hooks by stateroom door!!:classic_ohmy:  Not good for a cool weather cruise when you need a coat.  Would not want to take up precious closet space so I guess you could just throw your coat somewhere - bed, couch, chair?:classic_huh:

I'm not sure if I have ever seen hooks for coats and jackets on any Celebrity ship other than inside closets.  Or is my memory failing me?

If so, you’re not alone😂 I don’t recall any hooks other than the ones on the bathroom doors.

I just spent 28 days on Celebrity Silhouette and very much enjoyed being able to hang my coat etc on the hooks on the wall inside the cabin. That being said, it was my first Celebrity ship, so maybe other Solstice class ships are without hooks? 🧐

I was on Silhouette this summer, in a Concierge Veranda cabin, and I don’t recall coat hooks. If there were hooks in that cabin, we mustn’t have found them useful for our jackets, because we hung them in the closet. I don’t doubt your veracity, but I simply don’t remember any coat hooks in our cabin. It’s highly unlikely that there would be hooks in only one S-class ship, so they’re probably on the other S-class ships as well.

I may be wrong... but we have sailed on three S class ships for the first time this past year... so I may be thinking of the wrong ship... but I do recall hanging our "do not disturb" sign on a hook ... as I recall there were two hooks just opposite the bathroom door.. fairly high up as I recall. Perhaps that would be a good idea for Apex... since that ship will be sailing out of Southampton.

Found it... look at video... at the 13 second mark you can see the hooks on the wall. To be honest.. the only reason I remembered this was recalling the do not disturb sign.. I was never really sure where to put the darn thing.

Well now on the Edge you will have a magnetic sign! Best thing since sliced bread....😉

VT we noticed that on Harmony as well. It was a nice touch... but would be even better is if there was a digital sign that you could hit a button and it would show up outside your door.... Would avoid the temptation by some to simply turn over the sign.... he he he. And it would be a technical 'innovation' of a sort...in keeping with the millenial theme...

You can turn this one over - it says “deep sleep” on both sides!😀

They show them at the Roof Top Grill - there were some games going on when we were there. Looks like a good space for it (if the weather cooperates). I think they can do them at the Club too.

We were told that the casino bar was going to show all the games - there are several TVs - Sort of like Gastropub - although limited seating.

I think they used to show them in the theater...and on TV in the casino bars and the converted wine bar on Equinox....GastroPub.  Very popular for playoffs etc..multiple screens..

hope not too much sports at Rooftop... our cruise ends on Superbowl Sunday...we,'ll be home to  condo in plenty of time.

The only time I ever noticed hooks was on a NCL cruise where we ended up in an accessible cabin (maybe that’s the case on Celebrity too).  I loved it and always comment how all cruises should have hooks. Very convenient for hats, light jacket, etc.  Last cruise I actually brought those Command strip hooks.  Works well for light items but not a winter coat.

Or you got sick from someone on the elevator, or the handrail by the stairs, or the counter at the bar or a hundred other places.  Anything that you touch that other passengers touch has the potential to make you sick.  The hand washing trough is another one of the well intended concepts on Edge that doesn't appear to be working for a lot of passengers.

Your are 100% correct.  I wash my hands and don't use Purell.  I have been on ships where they chase you around with a bottle of it and almost making you use it when entering the buffet.  People were sick anyway.  People are sick in my office right now as I type.  Why...there are restrooms with washing functionality and Purell bottles everywhere.  Germs find a way.  I believe in hand washing liberally but unless you where gloves you will touch something somewhere..

Suggestion: Celebrity figure out a way for Luminae passengers to be able to order off MDR menu, as has been the case on every ship until now.

We will see how we do on the Edge. We enjoy the suite life. But if we dont still have the option to order off the MDR while dining in Luminae it might be our last cruise in suites on Celebrity. While I seem to order off mostly on the Luminae menu. There is just no way my other half can only order off the Luminae menu

Are you saying that suite guests cannot eat in the main dining rooms? Is this only on Edge or all Celebrity ships?

On the other Celebrity ships. While dining in Luminae you can order of the mdr menu. This is one of the main reasons we moved from AquaClass to suites.

We have the Edge booked for March 2019 and final payment is do by Dec 18th. We still plan on going on our cruise. I just done know if we will book another Edge cruise. Right know we have 5 cruises booked with Celebrity. Four cruises are booked in suites on the S Class ships pre Revolution. One option is to book higher end suites that give us unlimited specialty restaurants with the suite. The problem with that is the specialty restaurants have the same menu every evening.

Sailed Dec 3, 2018 and these are my concerns.

Theater seating is too small. Elbow in cup holder, no leg room , small seats. replace asap.

Veranda ( balcony) rooms don't work and not for a reason your thinking. People smoke when they buy a balcony room. We all know they are not to smoke but some do. Now on a traditional balcony they shut the door behind them and have a cigarette and the smoke is not drawn into the cabin like on this ship. This gets into the ventilation system and next thing you know the whole floor smells like a bar. People I talked too didn't feel like they had bought a balcony room at all and was not pleased.

Pillows. Who needs 14 pillows in a room. I just put them under my bed.

Magic Carpet. Did not use it and don't think most people did . Seems like a waste.

Music. NO Bands outside of the theater. DJs, and one and two singers and that was it.

Entertainment. This new concept must have been thought up by a mill-in-i-al . Does not work.

Price. Lower your prices or the Celebrity brand will be tarnished. Reflection is a great ship. Learn from them.

3 days was plenty for me.

After this incidence, we chosen not to return to Luminae.  We thought the staff was very pretentious and the food unappealing.  Not a good first impression at all. We did tell the sommelier in Normandie and also the Bar Manager.
