CASINO ROYALE QUESTION

My SO is Prime and we realize his points start over April 1, 2019 but if he gets to signature level before March 31, 2018 does he stay always at signature, thought I read something like that but can't find the article.  Or does he also start over on April 1, 2018 as signature?

As I understand it....

1. One April 1, 2019 what ever level you were because your 'level' for 2019.

2. Your 'points' for attaining levels are reset, so as the year progresses you work your way back up to your level (or higher) and then that becomes your status.

So...if you reach a level....you have it for a year....but if stop cruising/gambling....come April 1, 2020 you will no longer that level

If he earned 25,000 points between April 1, 2018 - March 31, 2019 he'll be Signature for April 1, 2019-March 31, 2020.  The points he earns from April 1, 2019-March 31, 2020 will be used to determine his status for April 1, 2020-March 31st, 2021.

On the back of this question, does anyone know what happens if you are in the middle of a cruise on 1st April?  Is it strict at 31st March it cuts off and from 1st April the points you earn will go towards the new 12 month period - or is the total for that cruise added to the total for the previous year?

So if I am cruising 29th March 2019 until 12th April, will those points be added to the 2018/2019 total or the 2019/2020 total?

Thanks in advance for your responses 🙂

You earn the points at the end of the Cruise so the points you earn will go toward your status from 4/1/2020 to 3/31/2021.

I was on a cruise on 4/1  last year and this is what happened to me.

Points are reported to Casino Royale after your last day of the cruise. So it would count for the 4/1/20 year.

That does not match what I was told from Casino Royale as I am also on a cruise that leaves on 3/30/19. I was told all points would count toward 4/1/18 - 3/31/19 vs 4/1/19 - 3/31/20. It also doesn't make sense for them to give a free cruise in one year and count the points in another year. Or maybe I figured out a good kick start to the years progress.

Not sure who told you this but it’s wrong.  You won’t be eligible for a free cruise for your Prime status until 4/1/2020.  However, you may be awarded a free cruise or money off a future cruise if you earn enough points on your  3/30 cruise.

Haven't cruised since April 2018 of last year.  Just got off a cruise last week and I was Prime and no one explained the new program while on board during the 2018 or 2019 cruise.  I just found out today the way the new program works by calling them.

Now I am going on a cruise in April 1, 2019 and will have no points and not enough from the previous year to be a prime member.  They can take this new program and shove it where the sun don't shine and I will no longer even try to make an attempt in the casino to gain any points.   Good bye Royal Casino's - It's not worth it.  Time to go on another cruise line I guess.

Wait I must be missing something here. You spent nothing with RCI over the last year, and you are mad that they are not giving you something for spending nothing? What am I missing?

There are casino points, and there are VIP's. I haven't cruised in 1.5 years. I've gotten almost 10 invites in 2019. I'm missing like 4 more offers because I threw them out, but this is just from 2019. All suites

When you gamble enough money......

Your cruise you did last April 2018 was part of the new year that goes from April 1, 2018 until March 31, 2019. So if you got over 2500 points between those two cruises you are Prime for the new year beginning April 1, 2019.

How many points did you gain from your cruise last April 2018 and cruise you just got off of February 2019?

As far as I know. If you make prime during the year you will get the perks (free drinks in the casino etc.) for the rest of the year but no free cruise till the following year. Royal's program is quite user friendly especially if you cruise a lot. My wife and I never spend more than $500 total gambling per trip and make prime easily. The free cruise is worth at least $1600 (We used it last year on the Harmony and that was $3000) Plus I like to have a Pina Colada when going back to the room at night If I gamble 5 nights that's a $70 saving per cruise.

He only cruises once a year.

BTW

How many points does your $500 net?

We should have had Laura use my card last year to get me up to Prime. She earned her level early last year, I rarely gamble anymore

It depends. You've got to get a machine that keeps you going.  We earn anywhere from 200 to 2000 ( the later last trip my wife hit one machine for $2700 and another for $1800 the same night) If you play the 3 card poker you build up points fast, but it's like a slot machine but  using cards. You must get lucky.

3 card poker was her game of choice. Almost $40  per hand. Never got any points that way. Now she plays WoF at $5 or $7 a spin. Earns around 400 points a cruise.

Points really have nothing to do with how much you win, just how much you risk.

Yes I know but you can play blackjack a $10 a hand for hours and accumulate almost no points play the 3 card poker without the ante bet at $10 a hand and earn a lot more points. I don't understand it but that's the way it seems to work. You lose most of the hands but when you win it can be big. Both my wife and I wound up with 4 of a kind the last cruise One time the deal had 3 of a kind my wife had the fourth the other I had 3 of a kind and the dealer had the fourth. Big money for a $5 bet.

I would say sit down for half an hour with a full table and see how many points you get.

I asked this question when I booked and was told I needed to meet the requirements for the level by the 31st regardless of when that date fell within my cruise.. I'd suggest asking onboard at 1st day casino open. Every ship seems to handle things individually..
