TxSandMom Posted June 19, 2019 #1 Share Posted June 19, 2019 The documents that we have to print (luggage tags, boarding passes) are so ink-heavy (blocks of color, etc.)! Is there a better way?
NCTribeFan Posted June 19, 2019 #2 Share Posted June 19, 2019 Not really. But you don't have to print in color.
canes20 Posted June 19, 2019 #3 Share Posted June 19, 2019 Print in black and white. They do not have to be in color.
kingston13 Posted June 19, 2019 #4 Share Posted June 19, 2019 I usually go to Staples and print them there. 1
DukeASUGirl Posted June 19, 2019 #5 Share Posted June 19, 2019 We always just print in black and white.
Lottacruises Posted June 19, 2019 #6 Share Posted June 19, 2019 Black and white? You can change the setting right before you print to print in greyscale or black and white.
TxSandMom Posted June 19, 2019 Author #7 Share Posted June 19, 2019 Printing in black and white still uses a boatload of ink... it's not the color per se, it's the ink. Going to Staples is a great idea, though!! How much did that cost?
Bases5 Posted June 19, 2019 #8 Share Posted June 19, 2019 So the gas and cost of staples is more cost prohibitive than just printing it your self? It's really not that much ink. 5 2

Is there a better way? Have your boarding pass on your phone. You don't have to print them. The only luggage tags you will need are for checked bags and black and white are fine. Staples is going to cost you 11 cents a page minimum and that is after you drive there. 😐

jerrya72 Posted June 19, 2019 #12 Share Posted June 19, 2019 I think you can get luggage tags from porters, not sure though. Maybe you can print the boarding passes at the port? Also a lot of hotel's I've stayed at have a computer and printer.
purplephenom Posted June 19, 2019 #13 Share Posted June 19, 2019 Just print your boarding passes. Screenshot anything you've prepurchased so you have record of it if you don't buy internet on the ship. And don't worry about the boarding passes- the porters have blank passes and can just write your cabin number on.

purplephenom Posted June 19, 2019 #16 Share Posted June 19, 2019 I didn't' realize you could have your boarding pass on your phone. So do that, use the porter's luggage tags, screenshot anything else you would normally print, and enjoy. Just make sure your phone is charged before you go to check in :-)
jbethel11 Posted June 19, 2019 #17 Share Posted June 19, 2019 If you stay at a hotel the night before (I stay at Homewood Suites by Hilton) I recommend you print free of charge there! I photocopied much of my luggage tags there.
MauiWowie57 Posted June 19, 2019 #18 Share Posted June 19, 2019 I'll say this though - they do NOT yet have an electronic boarding pass (like Apple Wallet) for your boarding pass. The luggage tags? It's just one paper per bag. Color is good though as the decks, port/starboard, etc. all have color codings that help the crew handling bags rapidly identify where you're going.
Rare sprint180 Posted June 19, 2019 #19 Share Posted June 19, 2019 (edited) Go black and white if you have to or print at your hotel if you stay in one the night before. Edited June 19, 2019 by sprint180

I'm sure Carnival would be very grateful.
Out of Iowa Posted June 19, 2019 #21 Share Posted June 19, 2019 Check out your local public library. At ours, each cardholder is allowed a certain # of free printouts.
teknoge3k Posted June 19, 2019 #22 Share Posted June 19, 2019 Sounds like you need to switch from an inkjet printer to a printer that uses toner. A long time ago I had one of those inkjet printers that I had to spend like $20 for a little think of black ink for it. Plus the cost of color. I switched to toner and I spend about $20 a year now. We don't print anything in color, as we have no need to.

Organized Chaos Posted June 19, 2019 #24 Share Posted June 19, 2019 (edited) Many of the comments here are completely uncalled for. Instead of skipping the thread because you have absolutely nothing to add to it, some of you choose to repeatedly insult the OP for her question and for how she chooses to manage her own money. None of you have the right to tell someone how they should spend, or save, money. Edited June 19, 2019 by Organized Chaos
