Observations from MSC Seaside Yacht Club

Here are a few more observations. The cabin is the best we have ever been in. There are electrical charge outlets by the desk in the living room, the desk in the bedroom and one beneath the TV in the bedroom. Though each of these outlets provide for two plugs, they are mounted so close together one can only use one. You might consider bringing an outlet multiplier if you have a family larger than 3 that need to charge their devices at the same times.

Thank you so much, RC, for both the photo and your lovely comments! emoji9.png

We had a YC deluxe on Mera back in June 2017 so I can return the favour now with a couple of photos of the cabin (#18012):

We found it wonderfully spacious, but the chairs didn't recline, I'm afraid (you may be able to make out the ones that were on the balcony in the second photo).

Dear Bea, Thank you so much. You are correct, photo #2 is a let down. DW wants to know how you feel about drawer space in this cabin.

I can't remember exactly what storage was available, though it didn't seem to be an issue as I didn't comment negatively at the time. There was a unit opposite the sofa that had shelves in, which we used for DH's clothes and my shoes/bags.  Other than that, there were some shelves where the safe was kept.  I have a photo of it and of the wardrobe (which was perfectly adequate).  I'll add them to this post as an edit from my phone (I'm on my laptop at the moment).

If it's not too much of an imposition, could you post a photo of the spirits/drinks with charge from YC, please?  I'm comparing what's on offer between YC with € prices and $ prices.  We're on Seaview in YC in 5 weeks time and have also upgraded to Prem+ for that sailing, hence I'm interested in the prices for both regions.

Thanks to your photo I can see that the wine offerings for charge are quite different to what Sir Wolf posted from his sailing on Preziosa.  Only Moet is offered on Seaside;  it, as well as Veuve Cliquot, were available on SW's cruise.

I've thrown in a couple of pics of the bathroom, too:

Thanks a mil, RC ... you're a brick!  (that's a compliment - means you're the best!  🤗)

Hope this cruise is your best ever.  Really looking forward to experiencing Seaside's sister ship in 36 days time!  😃

Well I have to report that the alcoves of the Yacht Club One Pool Deck are few in number and 2 are reserved for the 2 Royal Suites. We found them to be very hot in the Caribbean Sun and stifling to the point that we returned to our cabin balcony to enjoy a very brisk but pleasant wind. We have those colorful towel chair clips , 4 for each chair, just not enough clips. When we get to St. Maartin we will have to buy 4 more for the wind like today.

Noticed outside the YC that the main dining room has 3 seatings for dinner.

Do you think you’ll have any meals on the nice table on the balcony?  The table wasn’t there for our first time

Dear CG,  I forgot to mention, those that book the Royal Suite do have added perks. One of which is a special meal prepared out on your balcony. But DW does not want that. 'Whatever Lola wants, Lola gets".

Dear PS, Brought your question to Vishnu's attention. No he is not going to be your butler, but assured me to tell you that his fellow butlers will take good care of you. He asked for your name and I told him PS Markle and that you had him last year and were looking forward to having him again. Also that you were a fellow CC poster extraordinaire.

Thx for checking with him!  I'm sure we'll see him in the lounge and get to say "Hello."  I'm sure he'll remember me when he sees me as I have a very distinct look...I do not have any hair at all (not even eye brows), so I tend to stand out in a crowd...or a lineup LOL 🤣

Thanks for this info.  Will have to think about it. If we meet someone we click with, it might be fun

So this is the YC “house hooch” list?? Prosecco and a nice dry French rose and a NZ SB..... I’ll be a happy bunny #cheapdate!!

You can upgrade the free drink package that yacht club has to get a better wine list , we will definitely be upgrading, but I do like there Chianti Classico, it’s not expensive but tasty.

That wine list suits me fine and it even has the Ravenswood Zin which is DH's favourite.

Hi Rattanchair.........please could you check if the Roulette wheels are European or US i.e. does the wheel have 0 and 00.    Thanks looking forward to reading your review, have a great cruise.......

Dear Jos,  Not a gambler. I philosophize  that most of us can not be lucky at everything in life, so I chose to be lucky at love. Having  bent your ear, both wheels are the same. 0 and 180 degrees 00. Best of luck !

Does anyone know what the additional price per day would be on Seaside if you upgrade to the Premium Package?

If you mean, Premium Plus (YC is already Premium) it is $17 p/p/d, as most people have cited who have done it.

Observations for today in St. Maartin.  MSC provides YC quests with a separate gangway to exit and enter the Seaside. This way we can avoid butting to the front of the line following a butler and the looks and comments by the hoi polloi .  But in order to find this exit it is not advertised.  YC guests are told to show up when they want at the TopSail Lounge entrance and a line of butlers are waiting to escort  you off the ship.

Last night a notice was posted outside our cabin door advising passengers of deck cleaning while in St Maartin.  They began when we left the ship to walk around the port area. We returned in about a hour and checked out the prepared alcove on the YC sun deck. No breeze and decided to return to cabin to check out our balcony.  The balcony was perfect, in the shade, capturing a nice breeze. Set up the navy blue YC deck towels provided by another butler who introduced himself at the YC sun pool deck.  (Bring a wad of singles $$ for tipping). He would supply cabin with as many as desired. I set the lounge chairs with towels and 'new' towel clips I found in port this morning, and logged on to report to you all, when without warning around from the corner of the balcony comes the manned window washing machine . He did not stop, just nodded hello as I received my second shower of the morning. All my fault, I thought they finished earlier. Luckily DW was inside cabin at the time of my dowsing. He went to the end of the Yacht club and guess what? They came back again for a second shot at me, but this time I folded up the towels and ran inside the cabin and got my phone out to capture a photo.

Will you be on a US-based sailing, L, because it's a different selection from that on Med cruises?

I just thought that you'd like to know that, already, your posting those menus has helped other posters, too, as the subject of what's included in YC is always being raised.  👍

Oh no, we will be in the Med.   I'm sure my basic human requirement for cheap Prosecco, a dry rose and some sort of red for DH will be met LOL!   Would you happen to have a pic of the 'house hooch in the Med YC?   Although by the time "SeaSaw" sails it could all have changed!

Dear Bea,  You are welcome, a brick, too.  DW asked me to ask  you if the YC pool deck has lounge chairs in the shade.  Since your photos of the suite show only 2 chairs and an ottoman. Divina has no shade, this Seaside only has 9. The Seaside does have a nice pool section with lots of shaded lounges on deck 6 in the aft with a Venchi  ice cream, sorbet, and crepe station. But then what is the sense booking YC ? (because no hoi polloi chair hogs ! ) We are hoping the RS opens. We no longer think the alcoves are such a good idea, at least not on the Seaside. We will just have to wait and see if the Meraviglia alcoves are any different.  Unless someone can post otherwise. Thank you for all you do.
