bigdawgs Posted July 22, 2019 #1 Share Posted July 22, 2019 We are two seniors. Does anyone know how far of a walk it is from baggage claim, etc. to the Hilton Rome Airport Hotel? We have several pieces of luggage. Should we get a taxi? Thanks in advance for any advice. Larry & Ethel
Rare cruisestitch Posted July 22, 2019 #2 Share Posted July 22, 2019 Try the port of call board since this is not a Celebrity specific issue
JKHawaii Posted July 22, 2019 #3 Share Posted July 22, 2019 It's quite far, over 1/4 of a mile. Most of the walk is inside (temperature controlled) and there are moving sidewalks & elevators. However, the last 200 + feet to the hotel front door is outside on a regular (concrete) sidewalk.
Rare Jim_Iain Posted July 22, 2019 #4 Share Posted July 22, 2019 My guess is the distance is about 1/2 mile. The good thing is that you can take your luggage trolly with. You go upstairs near the parking garage and their is an all weather tunnel that takes you within a couple hundred feet of the hotel. Their are elevators on both end and you can take your luggage cart right to the hotel.
bigdawgs Posted July 22, 2019 Author #5 Share Posted July 22, 2019 Thank you. We will get a taxi or Uber if available. Larry and Ethel
Rare cruisemom42 Posted July 22, 2019 #6 Share Posted July 22, 2019 The Hilton Garden Inn is also on the FCO property, but not as close (e.g., not connected to the airport). HOWEVER, they have shuttles that pick up from the terminal outside baggage claim and take you directly to the hotel door. I find it is more convenient than the regular Hilton, but YMMV. Rare cruisequeen4ever Posted July 24, 2019 #7 Share Posted July 24, 2019 The Hilton Rome Airport is a great hotel and super convenient for the airport. It is a long walk, though. It is indoors most of the way, and you can stop as needed for breaks. We did it with 4 suitcases but were mid-30s. It might save the stress to just take a taxi. GateGuardian Posted July 24, 2019 #8 Share Posted July 24, 2019 I measured the covered bridge on google maps and it's about 1500ft. The website says it's about a 7min walk and it looks like it's covered on the bridge. The taxi ride would be take about 2min.
Rare Clay Clayton Posted July 24, 2019 #9 Share Posted July 24, 2019 It might not work but when my DMIL was transitting Miami alone, we ordered a wheelchair with the airline. They took her from the gate to immigration to baggage claim through customs and to her hotel inside the airport....maybe your airline would do the same in Rome? Might be worth a phone call to your airline....riding a wheelchair would be much easier than hailing a taxi for a 2 min ride IMHO.
Covepointcruiser Posted July 24, 2019 #10 Share Posted July 24, 2019 If the OP can handle Hong Kong the airport at Rome, while less organized, won’t be a problem. We are also seniors, hip replacements etc, the walk is not bad.
bigdawgs Posted July 26, 2019 Author #11 Share Posted July 26, 2019 Thanks, everyone. I suppose we will see when we get to the airport. I recall that we did this walk several years ago (2006) but we were younger then. Larry
Rare Oviedo32765 Posted July 26, 2019 #12 Share Posted July 26, 2019 I found a map with directions from the Hilton Rome Airport website. https://www3.hilton.com/en/hotels/italy/hilton-rome-airport-ROMAPTW/maps-directions/index.html DIRECTIONS FROM THE HOTEL STAFF A pedestrian walkway connects the Hilton Rome Airport to T1, T2 and T3 at the Leonardo da Vinci Fiumicino Airport. Arriving from Terminal 3, reach the upper level. Arriving from Terminal 1 and 2, reach the upper level by following directions to the Train Station. Once on the upper level, take the covered walkway and follow directions to the Hilton Rome Airport. The walk takes around 7 minutes.
Blazerboy Posted July 27, 2019 #13 Share Posted July 27, 2019 I've stayed here many times, but even I made the Hilton vs. Hilton Garden Inn mistake. Only plus is that I thought the HGI had a better restaurant.
