PortFees45 Posted July 23, 2019 #1 Share Posted July 23, 2019 I've not had much luck with this. NCL obviously doesn't give any. The TA's I've used done either. What are some good tips for getting OBC on Sailaway bookings?
casofilia Posted July 23, 2019 #2 Share Posted July 23, 2019 Get your partner, spouse, parents, children, employer to buy some for you.

Some agents do give them, sometimes NCL or any line will run a special offering an OBC and share holders also get them I am not sure about casino players. Regardless it isn't something with a hidden way to get them. I am amazed someone would ask the question!!!

Only buy stock if you feel that it is a good investment, the OBC that comes with the stock does not necessarily make it a good investment.

I guess you've missed some of the other questions being asked recently: Are the perks really "Free" or are they built into price of cruise? What is Your favorite Ship in Norwegian fleet of Ships? Why. Do NCL show movies up on the lido deck on the big screen? I just walk in there with My everyday clothes on? I can't fit a towel around Me. I know Carnival on board card is the Sail and Sail card. What is Norwegian version called? I just call it the Key Card. PortFees45 Posted July 23, 2019 Author #7 Share Posted July 23, 2019 Sorry I should have asked a question on a more pertinent topic...like if I can bring water onboard or whether or not I should pay the DSC.
Rare All-ready2cruise Posted July 23, 2019 #8 Share Posted July 23, 2019 Isn't there a credit card, American Express I think, that offers OBC when used to book a cruise?
SeaShark Posted July 23, 2019 #9 Share Posted July 23, 2019 I would rather NEVER receive OBC...just take that amount off of the cruise price instead. IOW, I'd rather pay $1,000 for a cruise than pay $1,200 with a $200 OBC.

I use AMEX’s OBC promo all the time. But, as others mentioned, on SAILAWAY rates, no OBC is offered. You can look for them. There’s no secret way to get them. There simply is no OBC with SAILAWAY rates.

EllieinNJ Posted July 23, 2019 #13 Share Posted July 23, 2019 I'm not sure what you are talking about but on my last three NCL cruises had a sailaway rate and my TA gave me OBC. She said it was based on price of cruise, not what category you choose.

But, that’s been a rarity in my experience.
Rare All-ready2cruise Posted July 23, 2019 #16 Share Posted July 23, 2019 For me, when I book an SA rate, I'm happy saving the upwards of $1000. I haven't decided to do that recently but I've been happy receiving the OBC and a great balcony location. It's all about what you're happy with, and that includes the price you pay as well, JMO. Agreed. I find the GTY rates working for me recently. I know I do well with the drink package and I do like the other perks that go along with it. As you say, whatever works best for you.

I found one that used to give OBC, but now gives credit at their retail store. I like to shop there for certain things, so that works for me just the same. That % varies amongst agencies and cruise lines, how much business do they do with certain cruise lines, etc...
tomk3212 Posted July 24, 2019 #20 Share Posted July 24, 2019 The whole point to the SA/GTY rate is that it's the LOWEST rate available. That's why NCL doesn't include any of the "freebies" that you can choose with the other more expensive rates. And, on another note, are the so-called "freebies" built into the price? Of course! As Robert A. Heinlein's characters used to say, TANSTAAFL!!! lol

I would hope nobody would buy just to get $100 OBC. ☺️
