Woofbite Posted August 9, 2019 #1 Share Posted August 9, 2019 I pre-ordered a bottle of Vodka on our recent Alaska cruise on the Amsterdam with the expectation it would be waiting in the cabin upon embarkation for a departure with friends. It wasn't. When I checked with the front desk, (room service phones were busied out), they said orders were usually delivered about half way through the cruise. Does this make sense to anybody? Is that standard on their other ships?
canadianbear Posted August 9, 2019 #2 Share Posted August 9, 2019 Never heard of that before-who wants it half way through cruise!

Rare kazu Posted August 9, 2019 #4 Share Posted August 9, 2019 I’m with the other two. Never heard of this either. Any time I’ve ordered something it is in the room by embarkation night. Something is wrong in Denmark, here IMO!
g>ravel Posted August 9, 2019 #5 Share Posted August 9, 2019 (edited) I always pre-purchase before all cruises and it has always been in room when we arrive, including Alaska. Customer service can be problematic. On our last cruise, in response to posting that shuttle passes for the next port were available at customer service, I approached and was advised that you could not get passes on board. While still standing there, another pax approached the adjacent customer service person and ask for passes for the shuttle and was told certainly, how many. I guess the answer depends on who you ask, when, in fact, everyone should be giving the same answer.. Sorry your purchase was not presented to you as it should have been. g Edited August 9, 2019 by g>ravel typo

Woofbite Posted August 10, 2019 Author #8 Share Posted August 10, 2019 Powdered booze? What a great idea. Has anybody tried this stuff: https://palcohol.com/ Might even pass ship security but probably costs more than shipboard drinks.
Djptcp Posted August 10, 2019 #9 Share Posted August 10, 2019 We always order a bottle of rum to be in our cabin and it's always there waiting for us after we board. Somebody screwed up somewhere along the line.
Krazy Kruizers Posted August 10, 2019 #10 Share Posted August 10, 2019 For many years we have pre-ordered alcohol for the cabin and the bottles were there when we got on the ship. And that includes the Amsterdam. You need to write a letter to Seattle about that (not an e-mail).
sevenseasnomad Posted August 10, 2019 #11 Share Posted August 10, 2019 Did you ever get the liquor you ordered? It's always frustrating to have a pre-order messed up or, in your case, delayed. When we pre-order, regardless of what it is, we take the confirmation, so we can prove to the Front Desk that we did indeed pay for an item/excursion. Once they see the confirmation, the discussion is over, and we always receive our purchases within a couple of hours on embarkation day. Sorry you had this experience. woody14h Posted August 10, 2019 #12 Share Posted August 10, 2019 We also have it delivered in our room on sail day. Sometimes we ask that it be delivered later after sail to avoid local or govt taxes.
Kate45 Posted August 11, 2019 #13 Share Posted August 11, 2019 Never preordered before but are considering this for our upcoming repo Canada New England cruise. Since we depart in Canada, are you saying that if we pre purchase a bottle of Crown for our cabin, we will be charged additional taxes (which is a lot in Canada)? jlocole Posted August 11, 2019 #15 Share Posted August 11, 2019 I looked on HAL website but can't find the tab that lets you pre-order bottles. I have only seen the wine packages. Is that where I would find individual bottles of liquor?
