I don’t care what others are wearing. For me it will always be a tux on formal nights. One day I might wear my favorite Tux. See photo 😁 Woo Hoo !! Awsome !! I'll admit I don't usually read them anymore, same people defending their personal preferences sometimes even to the point of insulting those not agreeing with them. I did today look at the last page of the current one (there is always at least one on page 1) and again same thing, none directly replying to OP. There is even one admitting he make up something, basically to annoy others. While this erodes his credibility (especially since according to his profile he has only done one princess cruise), it also makes one wonder how many others are doing the same thing to "prove" they are right. Until Princess takes a firm stand one way or the other, and enforces it, there will continue to be this animosity among those here. Personally, I just don't click on a post with dress-code stuff in the title, and if stumble into one that devolves into it, I just nope my way out with the back button. Same goes with smoking threads, tipping threads, casino threads, yadda when it's not a productive discussion. We'd have to have 30+ stickies to cover these common opinionated slap-flights. Mainly correct. Here are the guidelines for packing I think this reflects the modern day problem that air travellers have. I have a 35 night cruise coming up, and several days pre and post cruise. The total luggage allowance is 23 kg checked plus 7 kg carry on. The cost of any extra allowance is prohibitive. Most people never bother to read that page & just assume what should be worn on both casual & formal evenings. It does provide quite a bit of latitude. K.T.B. Posted November 21, 2019 #32 Share Posted November 21, 2019 I've been a member on these boards since 2003. And not a week goes by that I haven't seen a brand new dress code thread. Every cruise section has them, whether it's Princess, Celebrity, Carnival, etc. Heck, one of the first threads I was involved in was a dress code thread and the running joke in that thread was that someone was going to buy a denim tux and wear it. I never did find out if he did it or not.... One thing that is consistent with CC in all the time I've been a member is that there are dress code threads, food threads (both complaining about and raving about), chair hog threads, and how _____________________ cruise line is cutting things.

We tend to do longer cruises with a few days pre and post cruise but still manage to take formal wear. We usually have 23kg each hold allowance, unless we fly with Emirates when it is 30kg. We sometimes need to buy or take an extra bag to come home, when we have bought lots of things...cost is under £100 which does not seem prohibitive in the grand scheme of things. We take small / de canted amounts of hair and beauty items, to travel and buy full sized items at departure port. We wear our heaviest shoes/ clothes and pack jackets into vacuum bags , as soon as we have passed weigh stations and are in departure lounge or at gate. Pockets are quite useful for heavier items like chargers and adapters. I think it would be a good idea for someone to create a section especially for PACKING. Those not interested could simply by pass it and those needing help could have a read through.

Were it a matter of £100 we would take an extra case, however Etihad want $624 for 20 kg one way- that includes 20% early booking discount! The tux and evening dresses will be staying in the wardrobes and we will follow the guidelines that Princess give. Thanks for the packing tips but we already employ them all.
