Bothofus Posted December 9, 2019 #1 Share Posted December 9, 2019 I know this has been discussed before, but I can't find it. If I redeem reward points through my Bank of America VISA card for onboard credit, and then I don't use all of it, what happens to it? Do I lose it? Can I advance the credit in the Casino, and is there a fee? I don't have a rating in the Casino. Many thanks, Rachel
Clarea Posted December 9, 2019 #2 Share Posted December 9, 2019 Visa points OBC is fully refundable. You can get a refund of any unused refundable OBC on the last afternoon of the cruise. If you don't opt for a refund, they will credit the credit card on file for your onboard account.

cb at sea Posted December 9, 2019 #5 Share Posted December 9, 2019 Only OBC given by the cruise line is "unrefundable"....anything from a credit card, or travel agent or a friend 'gifting" you obc is refundable.

Nope. There are times that OBC that appears to come from a TA is actually a pass through and it is from Royal and is Non refundable.

Go to the casino and ask for a cash advance against your onboard account so you can play some live games. Don't mention OBC. They will charge 5% for this if you have used a credit card to secure your onboard account. No charge if you have a cash account or are a member of their casino player's group. buzzard05 Posted December 10, 2019 #12 Share Posted December 10, 2019 I remember reading somewhere that there was a way to do this on a slot machine too (load all your OBC onto the slot machine and then cashout??)...but don't remember the details. Anybody know of how you can do this or if you can still do this? Thanks

Like the other cashing out options, this may vary by ship. Basically you tap/insert your Seapass card, load the OBC into the machine and then get a cash out voucher. All the ships I have been on lately are not charging slot players for getting credit on the slot machines. Even though the travel agent arranges the OBC, it still comes from Royal and is therefore non-refundable.

Ian On our recent Freedom cruise, we went to the casino and asked for $100 and was given a paper voucher. We then put the voucher in one of the slot machines and played a few dollars...we actually won a couple of buck!...go figure. We then cashed out on the slot machine and took the new voucher back to the casino window...we got cash back from the second paper voucher that came out of the slot machine...it was easy. Cost was 5% or $5...and since we won a couple of bucks...total cost $3. 😊
